- French onion soup is so frickin' good. It really is. But so often, I feel like it's this sad, watery bowl of lazily made broth with a few bits of onions that are most definitely not caramelized. Today I'm taking French onion soup to the next level with an insane french onion burger.
This french onion burger has the best of the best all around. A soft, fluffy homemade bun, some deeply caramelized onions, some Japanese wagyu, grated Gruyere cheese, and a delicious beef stock glaze. This was, to put it simply, one of the best five burgers I've ever experienced.

The trick to not crying when cutting onions is to not form an emotional bond with them beforehand.

Next time you cut onions, try placing a damp wad of paper towel next to your sliced onions. Onion fumes attach to the closest water molecules in the area, which would normally be your eyes. By using the paper towel, this eliminates or reduces that crying effect on your eyes. Hope this help anyone who reads!

French onion soup is awesome. I invited my family over for french onion soup when I turned 29.
I made a kick-ass ox bone broth as a base, then spent about an hour peeling and cutting onions. It took me about 3-4 hours to caramalize them all. The result was an absolutely amazingly hearthy soup in the heart of winter.

I made a French Onion soup once using a 5 hr caramelisation process. It was a labour of love but the result was spectacular. My husband, who is French was so impressed. 5 hrs to make. 20mins to eat. I've never made it again. 🤣

I myself have always struggled with crying while cutting onions but the one thing i have found that works is cutting the onions next to the sink and leaving the tap running with cold water.

This sounds great and I'm def gonna try this. The only change I'll make though is applying the sauce to the onions themselves instead of on top of the cheese. It won't look all drippy but might hold onto the sauce better.
