    I had a chance to drive one for a few days while my AMG was getting its yearly maintenance done. It was such an amazing experience. They have some amazing tech, fantastic ergonomics, they’re quiet and quick. As an appliance (which is what 98% of the population is using cars as) they’re perfect. I’ll probably end up getting one, or just having my wife get one. No point in using gas for my cars that never travel more than 200 miles a day.

      You sound like me I got a loner for five days when I took my ClS 550 in for service and we ordered one , that EQE SUV is amazing!

    I recently got the EQS Sedan and I have enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. Haven’t had any issues and charging hasn’t been an issue at all. I was a little scared at first but now I wonder why I didn’t go electric sooner.

    The biggest issue will be power grid and if you travel outside major hub, service! Great show as always!!!

    Mercedes needs to get their quality control in check in their Tuscaloosa and Vance facilities. Also, start implementing features like Digital Rearview Mirror, Digital Key and full functionality of their MultiBeam and Digital LED headlights.

    The lease rates on these EQ-series boat anchors are so laughably good relative to their price, even I----an EV hater that lives in Oklahoma where gas is $2.80 a gallon---am tempted to lease one for a few years. Benz is giving them away; leasing them at rates that are close to what gas cars that cost half as much lease for. Plus they throw in a couple years of free charging. Sure, they are ugly jellybeans, but they *are* extremely high quality, fantastically luxurious and comfortable, and get stellar range. For $600/mo. even I can overlook their flaws...

    I own a CLS550 Mercedes, a Jaguar X-Type and a Toyota Camry , I just added the EQE350 SUV Mercedes to the group and I love it I live in the Chicago suburbs and I’m enjoying this new venture.

    As someone who has an EQE 500 SUV, it is the best car I ever owned. My previous cars….,A91 manual supra in CU later grey. I know, weird right.

      $108,000 MSRP and had almost $20,000 in lease and dealer incentives. Money factor was also incredibly low.

      @@MrSchn3ll 100% I think MMR is about $65,000. That is why you lease electric cars if you rotate cars ever 3-5 years.
      If I got a GLE 53 or GLE 580 it would have been a similar MSRP. But my lease payment is about 1/3 what it would have been. I drive about 35 miles a day so I could and do level 1 charge my car at home and have free level 2 charging at work. When I drive from Colorado to Angel Fire New Mexico to mountain bike I fast charge it at an EA once. The EPA range is about 270, but I get about 320 at 77 MPH with the ac on, while the car is changing lanes on it own, and the massage seats are going. It just worked out well. In the snow it got down to about -5F for a few days and the car was showing about 230 miles of range. I love the tech, I love the 4 wheel steering, I love the driver assist, and it feels like it is built super well. I also take a little bit of pride it is built in Alabama and American made.
      I could not justify the ICE equivalent, but this has been a really fun experience, that has gone well so far. If anyone is shocked at the lease prices of new cars and is interested in trying electric I recommend test driving one.

    I had the exact same car but 4 matic as a rental in Houston and to be honest was impressed. The stereo was amazing. If I lived in a warmer climate I’d have one in a heartbeat for sure. But in western Canada it’s just too damn cold in the winter for them to be usable….

    It really depends where you live - I have a dense reliable charging network and Level 2 charger at my property - so an EV is for me the better choice. I have a city car which is already EV - and now I have a brand-new EV for longer distances - very comfortable, very quiet - best way to ride comfortable. The maintenance intervals are 2 years now for the Mercedes, suits me well. But if I would live somewhere without charging network and no charging at home? Not an option. Are EV´s more reliable then ICE´s? I hope so, today's modern cars are also very reliable - I don´t remember any breakdown I had with my cars for a long time.

    “The fastest I got here in LA is about 150.” I used an app and search around the airport and there are EVGO and Electrify America sites that go far above 150kW in abundance. Maybe I misunderstood your quote but those other EV’s you listed all benefit specifically from those chargers. I get the numerous drawbacks including the EQE 32A EVSE charging limit that should be 48A on a 60A beaker. That would be a 50% fast charge time bringing it to five hours. The 32A is manageable if you charge at least frequently at home. 2:08

    Once you have solar panels on your house -- which is required in CA for all new construction -- EVs just make a ton of sense.
    In my neighborhood, Teslas, Rivans, and Hyundai/KIA electrics are everywhere. I even see Fiskers and Vinfasts on occasion.
    My neighbor two houses over has one of these Merc EVs. I would never buy a Mercedes because of the horrible reliability.

    After 10 months, I've slowly adjusted to the iX50 White with a grey Alcantara interior. The range is outstanding.

    I didn’t seem to realize that EV’s could be a different experience that could be better until I test drove the Model S long range. For all the faults, I could also see that sort of performance. There’s still issues like depreciation, charging, and battery range that have to progress. The iPhone 3G wasn’t a good product, but you could see where the future was going with the iPhone.

    Great review and video! I will never pay $700+ on a lease car for this Mercedes. There are more aggressive and better options out there.

    I think it looks better than the EQS. Bargains are out there (or soon will be 😀)so I'd get a cheap lease and run.

    I've been seeing these EQ SUVs for a few years now because I'm in Tuscaloosa. They make up the majority of the motor pool fleet vehicles for the two plants now.
    I've always thought they were ugly as sin. Additionally, the local dealership cannot seem to get anyone to buy them or the EQ sedans either.
    Apparently the lease incentives on the EQS SUV are insanely good now though...

    The simple answer is NO. I was a Mercedes service rep in a previous life. A friend is still a Mercedes wholesale parts manager. They've replaced 15 "EQ" batteries in about as many months. The first was an EQS that had to be pushed off the carrier into the shop. They have so many sitting on the lot, they've been offering employees a $499 lease with 12K per year. No takers...

      Good for you. Lexus/Toyota is not what it once was - they are all about profit and cost cutting, since the early 2000s. I used to be a Toyota manufacturing engineer in Japan. I will never drive Toyota again.

    Very confusing these electric Mercedes. Looking at different photos the EQE is almost identical to an EQC from the B pillar back.

    I've been a Mercedes fan all my life, and Mercedes will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart. That said, Mercedes completely screwed the pooch with the EQ cars, _especially_ the EQE and EQS. They designs are terrible, the interiors are horrid/tacky, and the prices are ridiculous (especially on my Island). Not to mention the lack of physical buttons. I think the best mass market Mercedes BEV is/was the EQC (which the US didn't get). The upcoming electric G is the *only* new/upcoming BEV worthy of the Mercedes badge, imo. I think BMW have absolutely trounced Mercedes with their BEVs. Even with it's ugly nose, I'd have an iX over an EQE or EQS any day! Or if I wanted a sedan, I'd have an Audi RS E-Tron GT.

    Aside from me not liking any EQ design so far, this car is a limited vehicle for what it costs. 80k cannot translate into a sub-par product and the comparison with KIA is more valid than it seems at first. Then, the issue with screens. i don´t mind screens in a car that is made to be a technology bet or cheap cars but anything luxurious needs to move out of so much catchy eye gadgets and offer the oldschool feeling of older mercs vs their competition. I really don´t want to spend 80k in a luxury car that is flawed by nature and will feel old in a couple of years time plus being electric.... who will want it in 10y time? it´s almost like buying a future liability to be honest.
    One more thing, all the evs i drove feel the same. i cannot explain what it is exactly but driving dynamics suck for somebody who likes to get to know the car. it´s almost like a one trick pony like it or not and to me that´s boring as hell. i´m sure a taycan does feel better but still, i can´t see myself putting so much money down on something i cannot enjoy.

    my 2c: In 5 or 6 years, the infotainement won't talk to the latest smartphones, the cellular data standards the cars depend on will be phased out, and the things will have depreciated like rocks despite having at least a decade of driving left in them (unless they have air suspension). Every single old fart that whines about "not wanting all these gimmicks and tech, I just want something that'd go from point A to point B", well getting from point A to point B is all these things will be good for. they'll be a match made in heaven, they'll be cheap, and they'll be cheap to run. what more could you ask for?
    ...unless mercedes is still doing that [variable travel brake pedal] bullspit. that's the dumbest thing since tesla dreamt up the yoke without variable steering.

    How long before people start getting saddled with huge costs to 'retire' an electric car? I believe it's coming. Right now I can take the biggest old POS ICE hooptie car & the junk yard will give me a couple of bucks for it (scrap metal value). I foresee a day where they'll be a charge, much like with tires (only much much more) where an owner will have to pay the man an environmental burden fee to scrap an e-car. I just cannot see owning the typical (expensive) electric car nowadays, would have to be lease for me if going to one. I applaud the choice we have (E vs ICE) but.... at least with nice/cool ICE cars you get sensory enjoyment out of them to go along with the financial drubbing from depreciation & maintenance costs. I need something with soul for the kind of money we're talking here.

      A similar cottage industry will pop up for EV’s. We already have people converting old ICE’s to EV. Also battery recycling is already being done on a massive scale for other devices. Scale that up to cars.

    I wonder if Toyota is pushing governments on hybrid vs EV is because an all EV world would eliminate their market advantage of reliable when all manufacturers would essentially be just as reliable.

    I would not say EVs are more reliable - way more software and electrical glitches.

    I beg to differ, if you put a GLE Mercedes against a Kia gas powered equivalent what would be the cost difference between the two a are people still purchasing Mercedes despite Kia’s having similar options, bottom line if you a simply not a Kia person chances are you’ll never be and if you’re not a Mercedes person chances are you’ll never be again.
