  • Once the piece has been cut and both 45 welded to the travel of the piece it's time to find the two holes. Josh shows you how he rolls the pice 180 degrees to make the fit easier to make. Come with us a we fabricate this rolling offset.

    I like it when a brother takes the time to teach. I've done many rolling offsets and have taken the time to pass that on. Good job.

    Totally love these videos that you put together. I'm not a professional welder but I do fabricate many projects for my own use. I took several welding classes back in the 70's and learned to weld the right way. I've been in the excavating and grading industry for 45 years starting out as a mechanic and got exposed to welding there. All my equipment is portable stick and mig. Really interesting how pipe welding is calculated. Thanks for showing us how things are in your line of work.

    Very useful video.
    I think it would be very useful for a lot of people to do a video on a 45 degree lateral intersection.
    Love the videos man keep it up!

    I have a 10" magnetic digital level that gives the angle and also has a laser that projects from the end, seems like something like that might help make fitting this type of stuff up a little easier. I use it on handrails and stairs alot, it helps big time. Awesome videos though man you give a lot of good info, I don't do this type of work, I do mostly structural and handrails and such but a lot of it transfers over.

    Hey brother, just want to let you know that your videos really help a newer cat like myself learn things that aren't necessarily an "every day occurance". I went to school to get my certs, have been a welder helper in the oilfield for a few years, and even tried out fabshop welding with tig on aluminum and stainless but nothing pays like pipe. So for someone looking to break out, having someone willing to teach is huge. So again, hat's off to you brother. Stay safe.

    just watched both of these (pt 1 and2) So the guy that did the math is the welder? They expect you as a welder to be able to fit those rolling offsets. The reason I ask is its just a welder and helper and no fitter with you on pipeline correct?

    Couldnt you have just fit this at true 45, and then roll your two holes to the rolling offset it called for with a 211 square or a digital degree level? After that you could go back and check all your measurements to make sure it's right. Anyways, great videos and love watching them man.

    • @JacobSchofield
      @JacobSchofield  Před 5 lety

      So doing this method you dont need to know the angle you just need to know the offset height and lenght the rest will take care of its self.

  • @blessdunn
    @blessdunn Před 5 lety

    It's was cool, but can't you just set the travel on a 45, then 2 hole ya flanges

  • @neilflash05
    @neilflash05 Před 4 lety

    Couldn’t you of just divide your rise into your set and got the tangent of the degree set your pipe of level and roll your flange to the degree you got from tangent in the blue book

    • @chimera91977
      @chimera91977 Před 3 lety

      Some industries or contractors specify where the stamp on the flange identifying it's pressure rating has to be located. Even if it isn't specified it looks more professional as a finished product with all the flange stamps matching. They wanted to be sure the two hole matched the pipe at time of install for the stamp on the flange to be on the top of the pipe.
