AzzaMATE bout time bombers had the umpires on their side for once this year, lost Anzac Day and also against the swans with rampe jumping on post. Due to bad umpiring. Glad we had the luck tonight !!
Maltz That wasn’t due to bad umpiring. Umpires just forgot about a rule that was ancient. Whereas you guys had more than double the amount of free kicks against the Giants. 29-14 free kick count. And had a goal allowed when it was clearly touched. If that goal had not stood, it could of been a completely different game.

AFL is such an underappreciated sport. I'm American, but I learned about it two years ago because my girlfriend is Australian, and I've loved it ever since. Go Blues! Really though, these guys are super-talented, and the sport is as dynamic as anything I've ever seen. It's as close to organized chaos as you can get. Great to watch.

worst decision of the night was the dis-allowed goal in the first qtr for what was paid a mark to a GWS defender - still shaking my head
Followed closely by the non goal to Clarke in the first quarter after a mark was paid to a Giants player who held the ball for a second or the non 50 metre penalty paid against Fantasia that gifted the Giants their first goal. If it wasn't for the umpires the score would have been 5 goals to 0 at quarter time.

As a long time supporter of AFL I'm starting to become more disillusioned to it. Reckon if these umpiring inconsistencies (Rampe on goalpost, lack of cohesion on holding the ball calls, MRO decisions being on whims, lack of goal review usage) I'll just give the sport up. It's hard to keep watching when you know the outcome isn't based on a fair playing field.
Thank you Essendon, gives us a bit of breathing room, the Giants are breathing down our necks. (Pies I mean)

Shaking is an understatement. Was there, nearly had an ambo was shaking like a leaf. If only they played w that desperation for most of the game. So much went wrong and then it went right! It was that quick kick from Irish that wss the standout for me. The right option
@@DC-js4gk I was gonna go to the game but came down with an awful fever so stayed home and watched it with the family. Heaps and heaps of screaming, what a night. Imagine if the siren went when Hooker was lining up, that wouldve made the perfect game just that teeny bit better.

I'm a power fan, but even I could see the umps played a HUGGE part. Essendon were given 14 of the last 16 frees, not to mention the goal not being reviewed

because advantage entails playing on is advantageous for the team with a free kick, so a point isnt advantageous but a goal would be

I saw that too. That was a touch and footy is getting rigged. I hate seeing games like that. i think gws played better and in that last 2 minutes the umps did help essendon.
