- I demonstrate and tell how I tied and ice dyed this double fan fold shirt at an incline.
I have a newer video of this fold that has a better camera angle. If you are having difficulty with the fold, here is the link to that video: • Inclined Double Fan Fo...

Angie, I’ve watched so many tie the vids over the years, but you have the best techniques, advice and designs! Hands down! Was an instant sub for me, and my two shirts that I did today were based on your techniques.
Awesome, thank you so much! I'm glad you are enjoying them!
Great effect. Well done! Incline ice dye.... truly innovative.
Thank you very much!
I've never seen people adding powder dye and following up with ice like that! Thanks for sharing your creativity! 🤯
You are so welcome!
Tht came out look'n REALLY GOOD!! GREAT job!! THNX 4 SHARIN'!!
Thanks so much!!
This is exceptional 💕💜
Thank you so much! 😀
Unbelievable it’s amazing
Thank you!
Probably one of my faves from you to date. As soon as payday comes. I'm going to ace for some plastic guttering
You won't regret it - I love using the guttering. My husband cut it to more manageable lengths, and so I ended up with several pieces that I could use at the same time. It also solves the problem of how to keep the ice on the shirt - there is no need for another barrier.
Is that where you'd buy this guttering at? How long is it? Wide?
@@kariann226 this is a link to the guttering I bought. I cut it down into more manageable sizes though. It doesn't matter the length - as long as it will hold a shirt and will hang over the side of a plastic tub so that it is at an incline.

@@FunEndeavors awesome you are so sweet! Thank u sooo much for being so kind with your knowledge and advice! It was Soooo humid out today, I hung the shirts on the line to take photos and my phone died. So I'll be posting them soon. Quite a few I will have to redo due to faded colors just from one wash. Tulip dye😒😫 I'm gonna order some dyes from wherever I can find the colors I want, do u have any suggestions as to which to get first? I like a lot of colors, bright and I know there's been a high demand and hard to get certain colors lately. Would starting with rainbow colors be good enough? Do u ever mix 2 colors to make another? And what size do u think would be good for someone only dying in the summertime? Thanks!
@@FunEndeavors man, our Lowe's and ace hardware closed ! Lol I got some string from Menards today but it's not kite string so gonna take it back. Is it cotton? U sent me the link to what u use but I'm just wondering what it's made of and if it has to say kite string? Is it super thin like a thread or thin piece of string? This stuff I got is pretty thick, cord.
Really nice!!
Thank you!
Muchas gracias, desde Argentina!!!!
Thank you!
Amazing!!!
Thank you! 🙂
Really like the snakeski
beautiful! nice job. love the blues. :-)
Thank you very much!
Estou iniciando no mundo tie dye e amei este video!!
Thank you!
Very very nice
Thank you so much!
That's going to be the next shirt I try. Color change though. Thanks.
Awesome! I really like this fold. I've done several different color combos too. I hope you have fun with it!
I really wish I had your patience for folding and pleating. My main focus is on the remote control. 😊
You can do it! 🙂
Wowwwww😍😍😍
Thank you!
Beautiful work!
Thank you!
Lindooo parabéns

@@rosanesieg1176 I used Procion Fiber Reactive Dye. Here is the link to the dye that I used:

so when you fold this shirt diagonally from the left up to the right corner of the shoulder, will the shirt be overlapped and not even on the sides? do you fold it completely even up to the neckline so it meets?
No the shirt won't be even on the sides. The dark dye on the shoulder and hem are where my initial fan folds started.
Subarashi 😊😊
Thank you!
Gostei
Thank you!
I love this pattern! I've tried to do it 3 times and can't get the same effect!
Thank you - I really like this one too! If you look me up on facebook (there is a link to my facebook page below the video) you can send a photo of one of the ones that you made and maybe I can help.
Did you applied colors on both sides? I mean, after the ice has melted on one side, did you do the same process on the other side?
@@delialiwanag8884 No, I checked it after the ice melted and the color went through to the back side. However, I still had some dye sitting on the top of the shirt that hadn't dissolved. So I added another layer of ice to try to force some of the undissolved dye through the shirt. I never turned it over and added additional dye though.
@@FunEndeavors Thank you!
@@delialiwanag8884 you are welcome.
Are they reacyive dyes mam...
Your design is very beautiful..👍👍👍
Thank you! Yes, I use Procion Fiber Reactive Dyes.
After all of the ice melts, do you rinse right away or do you need to wait a certain amount of time? Love this fold!
Thank you! After the ice melts I wait at least 24 hours.
@@FunEndeavors so glad I asked! The waiting is the hardest part!
Absolutely - but it just gives you time to tie dye more while you're waiting - ha!
@@FunEndeavors pls I dyed mine and it washed it was a polyester T-shirt I used ??
@@syvesterbecky4996 You must use cotton T-shirts if you are using Procion Fiber Reactive dye. It will not work on Polyester. However, if you are using a different kind of dye, you need to read the instructions of your dye and see what type shirt works the best.
Muito muito bom 10👍👋👋
Thank you!

Omg this is super neat! Why is it called a double fan fold??
Thanks! Because there is a fan fold on the corner and the hem.
Can this look be done with liquid dyes? I have a blanket that I would love to have a pattern like this on.
You can try it. I've only done this pattern with ice dyeing myself though.
I have experimented with liquid and ice incline and it does work.
👍👏👏👏👏
Again my sides are offb
By about 5 inches so how would I draw an arch on that? This one is hard!
Here is the video that I was telling you about. The camera angle is a better one to see the fold. czcams.com/video/1RpQoQal2ew/video.html
I don't get it because I've done it over and over again and it's not looking like yours at all. Mine is not if I put it up over the neckline it's completely on even on the other side so I don't know how you got yours even?
I have another video for this same fold, but just different colors. I think it may be easier to see what I did in this one. Here is the link.
czcams.com/video/Uw9sCuUDQzk/video.html
hello please, what is the name of the paint to use for the dye?
It is Procion fiber reactive dye.
Could I do this with a tank top or should I just stick with a t-shirt?
You could try it with a tank top. It would depend on the tank top though - probably not much of the fan fold area would stand out on the shoulder area. However, you should get the main fan fold on the bottom corner.
podrias poner el orden de los colores por favor, al no saber ingles me cuesta mucho seguir las instrucciones, mil gracias

Do you use a cold water dye

Why do you let it completely dry after soda ash soak?
Yes, I tie it while it is damp and set it aside to dry.
Mine looks like crap. I did royal blue, houdini blue , glacier blue
And im guessing its because my shirt was damp still , or because i accidentally added the dye over ice method , either way the folds are lost snd it doesn't look like a fan fold at all
I'm so sorry. It should work fine if the shirt is still damp though. So, it may be the dye over the ice method. I don't ever think I've added the dye over the top before with this fold.
@@FunEndeavors makes sense. Thank you
@@AreEff1987 You're welcome!
Can you use regular die as well to create this look? Or do you have to use powder die?
You could try it with liquid dye. It won't have the same exact look though.
Dye only on the top half of the shirt?
No, I added dye to the whole thing. The Glacier Blue is at the bottom and it is so light that it doesn't show up very well on the video.
@@FunEndeavors I see. That makes sense. We all try duplicating your steps. I’m glad I asked or else I’d have a have done shirt.
Looks like spiders fighting
Ha - it kind of does!
No entiendo ;-;
I think I add wayyy too much dye to begin with, yours looks very sparse compared to mine. I don't leave any white. And Ice had to ice it at least 3 or 4 times a day, letting it batch for 2. And reading more dye two more times. Is this wayyy to much?
It sounds like it might be too much. Several hours after the ice on the front side melts, I usually come back and gently lift my shirt up out of the guttering and check the back side to see if the color is coming through. If it looks like it's pretty well saturated on the back side I either leave it alone, or I add an additional layer of ice to the front if there is quite a bit of undissolved dye sitting on the top of the shirt on the front side.
If the back side isn't getting well saturated, but there is a lot of dye sitting on top on the front side, I will add more ice and check it again after that ice melts. Otherwise, I will flip the shirt over and add a thin layer of dye to the back side as well as soda ash and ice.
