If it's a criminal then they'll be alerted that you're aware they're in the house, and might just leave so there's not a struggle. If they're a murderer or a ghost that won't really work, though.

I've been binge watching horror short films on CZcams and this one really stuck out. It was incredibly well made and I mean it when I say it had me on edge throughout. You capture a feeling usually super hard to get right

I, with my few friends, used to play cricket in the ground from 6-8 in the evening. One day we decided to explore that house out of curiosity.
Post dinner at 10:00 PM, 4 boys(including me) went to that house. We were staring in the house through the window. I heard a sound of crying. I asked my friends but they couldn't hear anything. Within a few seconds, shadow of a woman appeared right in front of us. We ran away from there in no time.
That was the most frightening moment of my life. I couldn't sleep for weeks!!

This scared me when I first watched it. Just the idea that Google Home can just react like that is terrifying. I had an experience like this when I was younger, not with a device but a toy. My mum was obsessed with the first Monster's Inc film when it first came out at the cinema. When we were on a family trip to Florida she bought talking Mike and Sulley toys. You pressed a button in their hand and they'd say one of five phrases. Some time later the Mike toy would start randomly going off on its own and when it did it always said one phrase, "I've got my eye on you." I know that it's likely the batteries were running low but when you'd hear it in the middle of the night sometimes it was pretty terrifying.
