Awesome review! Thanks for that! We now have these available as a kit (panel + connectors) - btpa.com/pp-0012-04-thru.html
To answer your negative comments on the size of the panel with the board: We offer a higher feet kit to install to Pedaltrain boards that features 1" higher feet. You can add these to the legacy boards and the newer boards to better fit the panel. Here is the higher feet kit for the boards with 4 feet - btpa.com/LIFTKIT01.html
Also, to answer your question - the 4 port panel fits on the Pedaltrain Classic Pro and old Pedaltrain Pro.
Beautiful! I pinned this comment so people can see it at the top in the future! Wonderful product and I appreciate the interaction! More companies could learn from you!
Are the white spaces for labelling meant to be used with a label maker printed sticker?
Do you know of any slightly cheaper versions of the same thing? don't need the sturdiest build as it's only for studio use, so provided the jacks are still good quality I'm sorted. Know of anything that fits this?
Best-Tronics Pro Audio I love the higher feet kit. If an idiot like me can install it, anyone can.
I just installed a four port on a classic 2. Need to put higher feet on but the existing ones aren’t screwed on...they are riveted. Pain in ass.
I absolutely LOVE this patchbay, it saves you valuable setup and tear down time!
Great video. Helpful. Straight to the point, no BS. Thank you!
You are very welcome! Thank YOU for watching and commenting, it’s appreciated!
Excellent review! Thank you!
Makhach you are very welcome! Thank YOU for watching and commenting. It is appreciated!
It is great if you use the same setup all the time. If you change the routing out for different amps, like ones that do not have an FX send/return that would be a hassle going back and forth. Though I like it.
TJ Nugent it’s actually very easy to do... if you simply plug a patch cable from what would be your “out” when using an FX loop amp into the send jack and then plug your amp into what was the return jack. It is then setup to use with an amp with no loop... takes one patch cable and just a few seconds to do
Great video!
Thanks so much! and thanks again for watching/commenting. It's appreciated!
So you use one of the outputs for your amp footswitch? Are you using a connector as a pass-thru with normal 1/4" guitar cable going into your foot switch input on your amp?
That is correct. Foot switch goes to the patch bay and the patch bay goes to the foot switch input on my amp.
Got two of the 2x slot ones, 2x ins one side and 2x outs other side of Pedaltrain 2 classic (two round holes at back version) - had to use the Cioks PT-Kit / 4 rubber feet raising kits to get clearance - seems like people have grounding issues with Neutrik, Redco or other brand locking connectors. But no reports of these issues with the BTPA. Also it seems like the BTPA connectors are smaller than Redco/Swamp/Neutrik - I got some Neutrik gaskets for the D size connectors but they are too big to use with the panel mount/BTPA connectors. Not a bad thing! I got the black connectors to match the colour of the pedalboard too heh. Also another upgrade I'm very happy with, 'Stagetrix Super Loop' high temperature tolerant low profile velcro loop tape on the board, and Velcro brand Heavy Duty (Industrial in US I believe is the branding) hook. Not as hardcore (or expensive) as dual lock, but better strength than plain velcro and better for me than the difficulty of moving stuff around that is dual locked, as I change stuff around a bunch.
How hard was the cioks kit? Did you have to Buy a rivet gun? I wanna put one on my PT2
Oh... and Fuk a bunch a Dual Lock lol... I bought a pedal with that shit on it once... it was on the whole bottom.... oh my god!!! I had to use a paint scrapper chisel thing and get a friends help to get the bastard off my board... never again... never again lol!
I ended up needing to raise all 4 feet so needed 2x PT Kits. I had already bought one PT Kit, never used a rivet gun before, didn't really understand what I was doing and mangled one of the two rivets included. I am STILL hunting for a cheap replacement for that rivet, down to around $8 USD with postage from UK to Australia for a couple (or 10-25) rivets of the correct size and type. I got a cheap rivet gun for $7 USD I think. Very simple to use when you get the hang of it. Just need to make sure the hole size you are riveting is slightly larger than the rivet (should be obvious but a simple instruction from Cioks would have helped me there!) - I believe some of the hole sizes mentioned on various Cioks pdfs and videos differ/have errors sometimes - I think I was advised 4 or 4.5mm for the 4.8mm rivet.. but I could have just got confused with the mounting bracket and everything else. I also thought I could save some money by buying the Cioks '4 rubber feet kit' which said it had rivets and washers included .. but it didn't. Cioks and retailers updated the description to remove the washers and rivets. Kind of useless without them! Luckily my store was kind enough (who ordered it in) to provide some washers and rivets from two PT Kits. Feel bad for the store losing out though! Using the washers underneath (I put washers under the front feet) made it harder to get the rivet in, but with a bit of force it went in. Without the washers was easier. I recommend bracing the rivet gun against your leg or something solid so you don't have to exert as much pressure as using in mid-air - you really have to work your hand and arm muscles to get it to pop! I had to ask a friend to help with the second front foot (with washer between PT-2 and the rubber foot) because my hand was so sore after the first couple going in, heh!
I now have five feet, three at the back and two at the front - going to add a sixth foot when I get the money to order in 1-2 rivets from the UK (lol, I can only find 25-100+ rivet packs locally for $15-25 USD). Sorry long story short yeah you gotta get a rivet gun, but a cheap one is all you need - just make sure it has the right size shaft attachment for it :) I like the look of the BTPA higher feet kit but I prefer having riveted feet rather than screwed in - also the PT Kit seemed better value, until I figured out I needed two of them! Edit: it was $6-7 USD ish from local chain 'Bunnings': Craftright rivet gun www.bunnings.com.au/craftright-rivet-gun-set_p5910194 should be something similar priced at walmart/kmart/amazon overseas
And yeah for dual lock I hear it's stupid hard to remove if you use too much.. I hear/see that you should use 1cm square tabs kind of (and in arrow shaps if want to make it easier to remove) in the corners only.. but yeah screw dual lock! Unless permanently want something in place/impossible to be stolen while performing haha
yeah if you do the triangle thing it seems to work good, Dan from that pedal show does that. He obviously knows his shit lol...
They make a smaller one that works with Pedaltrain. Cheaper from china too. Built my own and I can fit 6 on the side
Could this be mounted on the back side (towards the amp) of the board between the slats?
Hi, it really depends on the board. I believe it will work on the newer generation of the larger pedaltrains. Pretty sure BTPA has dimensions on their website.
Great review. Is your board the 12.5 inch board and does the panel cause the back foot to not sit on the floor? I have the newest classic 2 and want to run my patch the same as yours.
Greg Criswell it will not work with the classic 2... they do sell a feet riser kit which they actually linked in the comments. This is a classic JR and it just BARELY fits... I’m actually thinking about just drilling the holes in the back of my classic 2 and running the connectors through the back of the board. Because I don’t want to use the feet.
I don't want to mount it to my board, could I essentially get a blank pedal sized enclosure and create a pedal sized patchbay?
I did exactly that before I bought this… and it works just fine.
have you had any noise issues with these type of connection? recently I purchased something similar from Amazon and it adds a lot of noise to the signal, so it makes using my compressor and fuzz more annoying, and I want to know if maybe the parts I got send are defective or if this is just how it is supposed to be. I know it's the connectors because I'm using a very high quality power supply, good cables and when I plug straight into the pedals, I get no noise.
I had no noise issues. So unfortunately it may be the parts you bought on Amazon. If you’d like to hear more examples of me using this patch bay there is another video on my channel called something like “how to use a patch bay to run both 4 cable method and into the front of your amp.” The thumbnail is this patch bay again.
Hi mate. Can you please measure dimension of the patch bay? Height and weight.
Sandeep Tuladhar Hi, unfortunately i cannot as I chopped mine up to use it a different manner. However you could try going to their website BTPA . com
You can simply put taller front feet on the pedalboard to raise it up so the patch bay doesn't meet the floor.
This I true, or the back for that matter.
jobyregrets Yup, totally!!
Yeah but pedaltrain put rivets to hold the feet on. Not cool pedaltrain.
David Burleigh, that sucks! That is totally not cool.
You can drill them out. It still sux but you can do it
Do you still plug your guitar straight into a pedal ?
+NoDirectionHomeMTL yes I do, you can buy a single, double or triple version if you want to add an additional one on the opposite side or whatever. But yeah I plug into a tuner and the patch bay is just used for all my outs.
Thx !
Would the work with the novo 24?
Yes, I ended up buying a novo 24 and it works perfect.
@@JobyP do the feet still sit flat on the ground with this attached, or did you have to change the feet on the Novo?
Hey my friend, Is this pachbay stereo?
All the jacks are separate, you could run it anyway you want or order stereo jacks from BTPA.com if you didn’t want to run the left and right separate.
@@JobyP okay thanks!🎸👍👍
Dudes, i have a similar product and it generates noise. I dont have a bracket installed and my pedalboard is not metal but wood. I have also read somewhere that the little screws on the side of this kind of unit are responsible for maybe shielding? Anyone could help me out?
You are likely having ground issues. You could try a hum eliminator to see if that resolves the issue. You could also try a 3 prong to 2 prong adapter just to see if that resolves it. (I wouldn’t use this live)
@@JobyP i honestly dont know where is the problem. Im using 4 of these connectors (4 cable method). If i bypass the connectors, so just plug the cables into the first or last pedals in the chain then there is no noise. Noise only comes when i want to use the patchbay which includes 4 of these connectors.
So i dont exclude the possibility of grounding issues but without the connectors my rig is basically noiseless. Im thinking about shielding or grounding issues of the connectors themselves. Whats is weird, the same things happen when i want to use a temple audio 4x patchbay. And as i wrote to temple audio, it turns out its a well known “issue”, the patchbay requires shielding and grounding.
@@gabibartok4544 That sucks man sorry to hear that. Some amps do HATE 4 cable method.... I bought the most perfect vox amp I was so in love with it and got it home and in 4cm it sounded like dog shit... just sounded completely broken... I ended up returning it.
@@JobyP i think i have found the issue. I have recently started a “rig cleaning project”, trying to eliminate all possible noise sources, filter everything i can. I have bought a power connector for my board from Temple Audio called IEC MOD. Through this, the power is filtered and for some reason it eliminates all the noise i have experienced earlier. Im happy now as the problem is solved but it would be still cool to understand how is it possible that even without this pricey thing my pedalboard is noiseless if i dont use a patchbay but if i do i have to have a power filter.
What's the drum n bass at the end of the video?
It’s mine... I’m a big drum and bass fan. Congrats on being the first person in over a year to mention it lol... I always assumed people would be like “Why the eff do you have drum and bass at the end of guitar videos?” Lol... Cheers! Thanks for watching Ben!
Awesome sounding production mate!
I'm mostly working on my board for electronic re-amping/channel sends for breakcore and darkstep hopefully.. that is until I get my main 6 string fixed up. Not so inspired to play 7 string with very old high tension strings hehe
Hell yeah man! I love dirty nasty synths... my buddy had a real Moog and he was like I don’t know what it is but it just does different things when you play it lol...
Well I think you could use 2 on each ends of the pedalboard
They sell them in just about every configuration you could think off. Check out BTPA.com man.
Any tone loss? I tried a patch bay years ago and instantly noticed a brittleness to my sound. But if these still sound good then I’ll try it.
I would honestly say no... Give it a rip! It saves me a ton of setup and tear down time and it allows me to place my pedals however the hell I want on my board. Cheers!
Thx dude! I've got the pedaltrain 2 medium. Did you mention that it wouldn't fit on this version without the raised feet?
Dude when you go to your older board just put taller rubber feet on it to provide more clearance!😉
I sing and play so i really dont want my board any taller. So what I did was chop the bottom off with a dremel tool.... worked great lol :)
@@JobyP taller only at the back. Come on work with me here lol.
haha... Naw I feel ya! BTPA actually offers a feet riser kit for pedaltrain boards. BUt if the backs taller I gotta lean wayyyy down to make my wah pedal sound normal hehe :)
You can build that with 8 Rean Jacks and a Hammond Housing for under 10$.
100% Truth and that’s what’s on my other pedal board! Cheers 🍻
Hi Joby, look at the royal solution at Schmidt Array Website.....
Pedal train feet are too small. Only downside.... the BTPA stuff looks fantastic. Thanks
No problem! Thanks for watching and commenting! It’s appreciated.
Just get a TEMPLE board. They do this in a much more simply than this.
@Cameron Smith No, it does not flex in the middle if you spend another $15 on a mounting bracket. It also holds the power supply underneath. I have a regular power supply and a Vertex battery power supply, so I have two mounting brackets. Each mounting bracket adds 4 rubber feet in the middle. Zero flex. And there is no plastic on the entire thing. just aluminum
made i the USA all the parts are from china
That plate is made here in the U.S. The jacks are Neutrik. Which I believe are made in Germany… could be wrong but BPTA makes the plate. And to the best of my knowledge… they make it in America.
