The halo wasn’t the problem. The problem was the new wheel takes forever to boot up and when it did it didn’t boot up correctly or there was some software problem and they retired the car. The cars in 2012 were a little less complex in terms of the steering wheel
@@JMak02 I believe there was a short in the steering column wirings, so both steering wheels worked fine, but didn't connect properly to the car. The steering wheel actually takes about two seconds to boot, but there was no signal after.

So the steering wheel should boot as normal then the driver would do the button combination to start the engine and drive away?. Drivers switch off at the end of the pitlane when waiting during FP sessions, then switch back on almost instantly when they want to set off

If i remember well it was like 5 stops and 1 penalty. And I wouldn't say that was strategy (a priori plan), they should be Delphic Oracle to make 100 % prognosis about such crazy wet long race...
2012 had much simpler internals and the wheel did not have to display that much information. Most of the functionalities on the wheel were pretty simple and is mostly adjusted on the monocoque-attached dials instead of the wheel, hence the V8 era cars are pretty reliable, electronically
