I'm not sure it's worth it anymore because it comes out tomorrow for everyone but if it was a few days ago I definitely would've recommended it, so far I'm 15 hours in and its great

Fantastic review as always! Informative, entertaining, well-spoken. Can't wait to see what you've got next! I set off on a road trip with my Phantom Thieves last night! I'm along for the socialization and the story, and I've not been disappointed! When the crew surprises Joker with a welcome home party at LeBlanc, I felt I was being welcomed along with him. I can't think of any other games that elicit that kind of response from me. I do have two quibbles. First, as you (and others) have mentioned is the audio, particularly the dialogue balance. It's a real shame because these voice actors are amazing and deserve to be heard better! Second, I find the control scheme to be cumbersome and unintitive. I'll get used to it, for sure, but that was my initial reaction during early combat. Enjoy, fellow Persona fans!!

Hopefully it get a day one patch to fix it 'cause the voice acting in P5 is excellent. So excited to be picking this game up tomorrow! And seeing as how you can play as any of the Phantom Thieves, my entire play through is gonna be with my fave character Yusuke/Fox!

At first I thought that no one was gonna enjoy this game for not being connected to Royal, but from reading the comments here I don't have to worry. I've been hyping this game on Twitter for the longest since I've decided to skip royal and just watch it. I'm really enjoying P5S and I don't regret buying it! I'm really enjoying myself since I've been waiting to play this game for the longest now.
@@UZXCrimsonAvenger i'd actually prefer it not be connected to royal. after hearing some of the major changes they've made to the story in royal that i don't like much, such as akechi not dying, i decided to just stick with the base game. honestly the base game was pretty much perfect as is for me, so i had no desire to buy it again with unnecessary changes to the story. i wasn't really intending to play strikers either but i just found out it's free with ps+ so i will definitely try it out sometime soon.
Its a great game for sure, having a blast with it on PC so far! About those sound issues u have on your PS4 version, i played trough the same scene yesterday and had no issues at all, i suspect its a console version issue, couse i had no such issue on PC. Having only seen a streamer play trough P5(and recently watched the anime as a refresher) i honestly hope P5 itself also comes to other platforms, couse this tastes like more!
@@BacklogBattle So I'd like to chime in and say those issues are DEFINITELY present on the PC version. However, on the PC version at least, you can change the volume settings to make the voices louder to compensate.

So it's not just a dynasty warriors game, that's good to know. I'm a little sad they removed the social links/confidants but still, it looks great. 35 to 45 hours sounds good to me, even though I love Royal and the original, I think they were a little too "bloated". My ps4 copy arrives this monday, can't wait.

I've been playing Musou games since PS2 and I am glad that this did not follow that same old formula. Although, this is also one of the things I find challenging in this game - adapting to the fast-paced battle system. The mental gymnastics is just new to me. LOL.

Is Strikers like past warriors games does it have high replay value or is it as I suspect a one time playthrough and it'll then sit on your shelf for month after month.
Replay value is subjective, so I think you have to be a bit more specific with your question. For example, I love the battle engine so much that I’d love to replay through the game all over. But for someone who’s just after the story, they’ve no reason to replay through the game

I'm usually very iffy on crowd combat games. But this nailed it while still feeling like a Persona game and I love it. Some of the fights feel fairly challenging on normal too which I don't mind. Makes you have to be more strategic though. I bought the deluxe edition to play it early and I don't regret it.

Few minutes in your video and I’m like I love Persona soo much, I felt like the combat wasn’t a great as in Age of Calamity but think it got better going on. I loved visiting new places in the game and this is a great love song to Persona 5 fans. Although I hate that it left out Kasumi.

I am a guy who haven't played Persona 5 or Persona 5 royal because I don't own a console. But I am enjoying the game very much (10 hours in btw). I hope one day I get to experience Persona 5 on PC.
@@BacklogBattle I have played Persona 4 Golden so I was somewhat familiar with the concept of this world. I liked the art style and the characters from the promotional materials of Persona 5 Royal and always wanted to experience that. What I was worried about was the fact that I might not be able to connect with each character like I did in P4. But they have a done a good job on characters feeling accessible to newcomers or maybe it was me being more open to experience this game without playing P5.
Finally more and more Persona games are coming to pc and I'm looking forward to playing P5 Strikers on it. The only problem is we still have no P5 pc port. I'm really hopping this is still going to happen in the near future but until then Strikes will have to wait on my steam wishlist...
My biggest worry about this game is that it wouldn't feel like Persona 5 at all and that it was made to milk more money using the name and after watching your review I am happy that it seems not to be the case at all. I am more than excited to return to the Phantom Thieves and spend some precious time with them while we kick some shadows' butts. Now give us some Persona 5 ports for Switch and PC too, Atlus!

Persona 5 Strikers maybe a warrior game but with strategy and better AI as to any other Dynasty Warriors titles, including Nintendo warriors (Zelda and Fire Emblem)
Didn't really have time to get it during review, but if you aim for it during your playthrough you can. There's only one that requires you to START NG+ at Merciless, but that's it.
I don’t see how it can’t be fulfilling. As I said, it’s an extension of P5, so there’s plenty of things to work with. Haru, for instance, finally gets the closure she deserved that was never addressed in P5. A game doesn’t need to have the length of P5 to feel fulfilling. It just needs to feel complete in and of itself, and that’s what P5S delivers.
really wanted to get the game, but my guts keep telling me that Atlus is going to make a "Royal" rerelease for Strikers, guess I'll wait for another month or 2

Finally got the platinum. Took 12 hours to grind the last trophy. I wish there was a trophy for actually completing ng+ on merciless.
It *is* odd that it's only to start NG+ with Merciless, but that hasn't stopped me from trying!

Someone in the comments said that the PC version doesn't exhibit these issues somehow, though I've yet to confirm this myself.

Both are great games! I think Strikers is different enough that if you’ve been playing turn based games, it’ll feel like a breath of fresh air!

I don’t see how it can’t be fulfilling. As I said, it’s an extension of P5, so there’s plenty of things to work with. Haru, for instance, finally gets the closure she deserved that was never addressed in P5.
A game doesn’t need to have the length of P5 to feel fulfilling. It just needs to feel complete in and of itself, and that’s what P5S delivers.

The music drowned out Yusuke, nice!! He was by far my least favorite character.
really wanted to get the game, but my guts keep telling me that Atlus is going to make a "Royal" rerelease for Strikers, guess I'll wait for another month or 2
Atlus has never made a Royal style rerelease for any non-mainline Persona game, so I doubt that will happen.
