I've followed Jiz Lee's career for years, since they've written multiple books, work as a sex educator, and make amazingly queer content as a camera operator/editor of PinkLabel's Crashpad Series. Their essays on queerness and sexuality are awesome and they're an outspoken activist for sex workers' rights.
The same praises can be sung about Stoya and Nikki Darling, who've both been quite vocal on the sometimes harsh realities of the sex industry.
As sex workers, these people always bear the brunt of today's misogyny, slut-shaming, and some people's saviour complex, but if they have the audacity to raise their voices in protest or call people out on their BS, they're bullied and humiliated. 🤔

Sweetheart, it's not “bitching“ when you raise awareness for more diversity. If you don't like their work, fine. But complaining about other people's identity and their sense of community is the epitome of privilege...
Also, calling people out on their (in your eyes masculine) looks is quite childish. We're all different and express ourselves differently. Jiz Lee happens to be genderqueer, so they may not meet your heteronormative convention of gender. Read and watch some of their work or talk to some LGBTQ+ people, before you express your own outdated opinions on something you obviously have no clue about.

I always viewed people’s sexual interests/fetishes/turn ons as a bit of a window into their subconscious’s. It CAN say quite a bit about a person and how they view other people, what they want from the world, any repression’s that they have, and what makes them feel powerful and sexy. I also think it shows how deeply influenced by society porn is. I personally get IMMEDIATELY turned off by most of those demeaning titles that they mentioned or if something looks painful or uncomfortable because i don’t want to see people degraded or treated like shit and they’re not obviously enjoying it.

Jacob Star In general, it doesn't bother me that much whether it's sensual or bdsm. It's just hard to get past the flood of creepy and/or racist titles that include phrases like "teen in pigtails" "ghetto ebony" or "tiny asian gets bbc". Then when you click on one, the female actress always looks bored, overworked, and often very uncomfortable. Maybe the people who watch it can't tell the difference, but instead of being sexy it ends up being kind of sad and awkward. To me, it doesn't have to be sensual necessarily to respect the actors involved. Not to mention the fact that sex in porn is so far removed from sex in the real world it's laughable.
The stereotype was implanted in us when Marilyn Monroe was introduced on Playboy magazine in the 50's The voluptuous large breasted blonde was introduced and it kind of became the norm.

Back in the day when I just started watch porn used to wonder why all the "interracial" porn was just black folks with white folks? The first couple of times I thought it might just have been coincidence but I eventually caught on that it was deliberate. I didn't even know about the differences in pay rates until a few years ago. Minority porn stars need to start charging more for interracial scenes until they achieve parity.
The lack of representation and racism in porn and it's marketing is a project I really wanted to research/present in college but...ya know...trying to frame that conversation in a classroom without getting labelled and blackballed is so difficult. All of a sudden everyone gets super immature like,"Why do you care about it so much *knowing stares*". Well, because it's a multi billion dollar industry that y'all participate in everyday that's why.

Not sure, you'd have to go by category (amateur vs. professional etc.) but I was aiming more at the pay disparity, the marketing of black and minority performers and the fact that white performers are allowed to play so many different characters (the nerd, goth girl, girl next door, teacher, nurse, babysitter, femdom etc.) and others, especially the black female performers (as was mentioned) are all lumped into either 'ebony' or 'ratchet ghetto sl** gets blah blah blah'. But lack of representation also plays a part

I HATE the term "people of color". But it really is hard to find good non-white porn. It's there, but it's FAR less common. And Asian porn is generally terrible- it's like the women are babies being raped. It's awful. Finding a confident Asian woman having clearly consensual, non-blurred sex is SO hard. And the majesty (IMHO) of the black female body is almost totally ignored. And the natural, unaltered female body is of course called a fetish because American women have body issues that they will defend with their lives.
It makes me incredibly sad that people slam and shame the same people that are contributing to their pleasure.
