Corporations are afraid of lawsuits around here, so they have good reason to toss things unfortunately. Texas laws ought make it a little tougher for consumers to win the "I did something stupid, but the store bears some responsibility" lawsuits. But they toss stuff anyway instead of donating. GRRRR.

They would give it all away if they could but they would be facing mega fines on the company part. So keep collecting what the companies put out there for your convience. Don't let it all go to waste.

They are not. By law if its a return or if say something like a mouse /rat other critters walk pee poop on the item it can not be given away to anyone...
Most of the foods you gather are not healthy choices. Breads chips candies processed cereals. Your intentions are good but not the healthiest of foods.
It's even more wasteful when they cut it all up or destroy it in other ways
With so many people that can't afford to buy food, it makes me sick to see companies throw away so much.

Books could be donated to local nursing homes and some cities have book boxes for donations, similar to planet aid donation boxes.
Please take those book books and donate them to nursing homes etc. Don't let good books go to the landfill!

If you have a foster and adoption centre near you as they make a bag with a soft toys and books, for children going to foster and adoption families.
