    Wow...exciting developments at RTI !!! I stopped at one point to comment about what an improvement it would be if all that silver at the valve/regulator could be, then decided to finish watching first. Half a minute later, you held up the new bottle design. Sweet! I think version 2 is going to disrupt the bullpup market. I can't wait for part2...and 3 of your review, thank you !!!

    Cool vid.
    Some info on priest 2 .30cal:
    In performance version (500 cc bottle, external adj reg, extended stock and 22 cc plenum extension) measured with FX chrono:
    - With 7.8 mm spring tension / 150 bar / 50,15 gr JSB, results in avg. over 5 shots 871 fps, with a high of 884 fps = 118 Joule.
    - With 7.8 mm spring tension / 180 bar / 50.15 gr JSB, results in avg. over 5 shots 903 fps, with a high of 912 fps = 126 Joule.
    And I think you can push it even further when you go to 200 bar on the adj. regulator and/or give it more spring tension.
    Although RTI Arms says going beyond 180 doesn't give you more.
    Soon be testing 200 bar and some slugs...

    Thanks for a great video. This version 2 is so much better than the original as you can adjust the power easily for different weight pellets.
    RTI are great to deal with, very helpful and respond quickly. Unfortunately I live in Turkey where there is currently no agent so I have forwarded links to this video to a couple of the largest retailers to see if I can get some interest.

      You cannot see it from outside (it is under the left cover plate), but the pellet probe actually rotated in the last part of the bolt travel forward and locks it. The way it is designed you can be confident that it withstands powers over 200 J. There is not force on the bolt upon firing the gun.

    • @gregorkamensek3923
      @gregorkamensek3923  Před 5 lety

      The Priest 2 comes in 4 calibers: .177, .22, .25, .30, same as was The Priest 1. The standard barrels will be the same as on V1 (all CZ except .30 LW). Right now, the long range pellet barrel is in .22 and soon there will also be in .25. These are LW. This is what I know right now, things might change so I suggest you follow their web page.

    • @gregorkamensek3923
      @gregorkamensek3923  Před 4 lety +1

      No no, that is not what I meant. What I meant is that if you are trying to adjust the second stage trigger pull length to minimum (something that is desirable by target shooters), you will come to a point there the gun might fire on its own if it is bumped. Factory setting will be safe.

    • @gregorkamensek3923
      @gregorkamensek3923  Před 5 lety

      If there is absolutely no wind, then YES. With Monster redesign in RTI with custom pellet barrel and adjustable regulator and adjustable but plate, shooting at 295 m/s, you can get genuine sub MOA groups all the time.
      If there is even a slight wind, Huben will be more accurate as the slugs are not as sensitive...
      Slugs also loose way less velocity and hit much harder.
      But keep in mind that JSB are relatively cheap and you use less air.... So it is really up to you what you prefer. Also worth noting is that if you want the cast slugs to be accurate, you really mush have the know how and skills for casting to make the accurate enough.

    Hello Gregor, to inform you, i learned that 1.77/.22 Priest 2 can not be rebuilt to .25/.30.
    The valve is different.
    I learned because i bought a .22 Priest 2 with .22 LR barrel. I could not get JSB Redesigned past 260m/s, even with heavier spring and extra hammerweight.
    So i asked RTI what's going on here and they told me that the valve in my .22 Priest has a too small diameter. I need .25/.30 valve.

Also, latest generation of RTI guns uses thicker wall shroud (external dimension is the same but internal is smaller - the threads are the same though) so you have to use the correct barrel spacer (the one it is threaded on the muzzle of the barrel) for it.

      The screw to adjust the length of pull of the first stage is on the trigger blade. It requires a 1.5 mm Allen key. You will need to remove the right side plate to hold forward the trigger rod to oppose the 1st stage spring. Then you just untighten the screw on the blade, position the blade to desired position and retighten it.

      For Huben cast bullet, regular airgun twist will do just fine as the slugs are not very long. My suggestion is somewhere between 1:16" and 1:18" They shoot very well in standard LW .22LR barrel and all airgun barrels form LW (regular, poly, choked or un-choked).

    Gregor, the new Priest looks awesome. I am looking to buy a new gun and this one did attract my attention. I have a simple question... I am interested in 6.35 only. I prefer the Exact Kings Heavy 2.2 grams. I have come to realize that the best Diabolo pellet velocity is about 260-265 m/s. So here's the question: can I achieve this velocity with the 2.2 gram Heavies in .25 and get about 75-80 Joules out of this gun, by adjusting the externally adjustable reg to 145-150 bar and tweaking the hammer spring tension? I'll get the new butt pad too, of course. If this is possible, I am most certainly choosing this gun over the Impact Mk2. Thanks in advance for your kind assistance on this one.

  • @uzumlubay
    @uzumlubay Před 5 lety

    I believe the carbon fibre bottle only rated for maximum 250 bar while the smaller aluminium bottle is rated for 300 bar. How does this affect comparable shot count and maximum power available. Dutch seller says that Carbo Fibre gives slightly less power.
    How easy is it to adjust the new regulator?? I know decreasing power should be straightforward but if increasing say from 125 to 175 would it be best to make several small adjustments??

    • @gregorkamensek3923
      @gregorkamensek3923  Před 5 lety

      CB bottle is made for 300 bar fill so you only gain shots.
      It is extremely easy to adjust the reg. All you need is 3 mm alley key. For increasing, you do not need to take small steps, all you need to do it turn the screw counterclockwise. For reducing, it is slightly more complex. You need to turn the screw clockwise a little but and take a few dry shots and repeat... or you can remove the bottle, make a few clockwise turns and then reattach the bottle and start raising the pressure until you have it at desired pressure. In this case, you will still have the higher pressure remaining in the plenum until you taken a few shoots so just be aware of this.

      One more thing. CF bottle has nothing to do with power. The power only depends on the regulated pressure and the hammer...
      If lower power is obtained by CF bottle, it is because the regulator was at a slightly different pressure or changes were made to hammer weight / spring. Bottle is just a container and has nothing to do with power.

      @@gregorkamensek3923 Many thanks for your response Gregor. RTI's Dutch retailer may be using a different C/F bottle because on their website they say "You are not allowed to fill this carbon at 300 bar, but at 250 bar maximum."
      I hope RTI or their retailers offer this as a "Match" version - with long range barrel, externally adjustable regulator and extended butt plate to enable easy adjustment of hammer spring as standard. It IS OK to have all these parts as upgrades but for example why would you want to buy with standard regulator if you are never going to use it.
      I am eagerly waiting Part 2 of this video to see 100 metre accuracy with redesigned monsters in 22. In theory with the rifle in the above configuration shooting at about 970 fps should give the optimum accuracy.
      Just been looking at your earlier reviews and then if you changed the regulator pressure you also needed to change the hammer spring and use a heavier guide. Does the new extended butt plate alone give sufficient adjustment to a standard hammer spring or do you still need to change it. If so this still means you must purchase the extended butt plate if you are going to use the adjustable regulator.

      @@uzumlubay Well you are quite right but I do not have influence of RTI sales policy... :) You are right about the velocities, I shoot at about 300 m/s with JSB monster redesigned and the results are extremely good.

      @@gregorkamensek3923 What about the hammer spring???
      RTI might need to know the first rule of marketing - you need to supply what the customer wants. I think that the majority of people would want to buy a "Match" version which would include adjustable regulator, extended butt plate and new long range barrel. Basically the same as you described as an Extreme Benchrest Rifle.
      They should have realised this and shown of this configuration at IWA this week.

      @@muratmustafa4532 It will shoot light pellets very well, as long as we are talking about diablo pellets. This barrel does not force a lot of spin stabilization, so the pellets have to be drag / flare stabilized. Pellets in most cases have worse BC than slugs.

This barrel requires the pellets to be shot at "normal speeds" (up to about 900 fps) to retain accuracy as it has relatively fast twist rate to be able to shoot slugs as well. @@thomothompson1344 Well, if you are happy with operation and power you have now, then you don't need to change anything :) But if you do want to tune it, you will need both. You will not gain much with only the adjustable but pad. The only reason to get only adjustable but pad it if you are happy with power you have but only want to tweak the hammer to really fine tune accuracy and consistency. But these effects will be minor since the gun is already quite well pre-tuned. With it, you will be able to reduce the power as much as you like but if you decrease it significantly without reducing regulator pressure, the consistency might suffer. You will not be able to increase the power significantly, for that, you would need to increase the pressure as well.
