(mainly because you are adorable) but I love how you always seem to keep your recipes simple which is great for us widowers. Love this Pulled Pork, and will try it for my next summer BBQ. Ciao.

    I made this yesterday for my birthday. It took a little longer in the oven, but it was well worth it! I made your yummy and spicy BBQ sauce and my mom made coleslaw. It was DIVINE! Everybody loved it. And now I'm going to get some of the leftovers...nomnomnom.
    Thanks for this awesome recipe!

    Hey Laura! I just made this and it was a huge success!!! The pork shoulder I got was 5 pounds so I didn't use as much seasoning and I put it in the oven for 3 hours covered and after I uncovered it, it took only an hour for it to be done. It was so delicious and so simple! Thanks so much! :D

    Laura, We smoke pork shoulder several times throughout the summer. Here's a helpful tip for shredding the pork. Cut up a few chunks and toss it in your kitchen aid mixer with the paddle attachment. I kid you not, it makes life so much easier! Love this recipe you did for during our winter months....yum!

    This was terrific! Made it tonight and put some kosher pickles on it with a freah bun. The pulled pork was fantastic, such awesome flavors even good without BBQ sauce. With bbq sauce was tops as well. Took 6 hours in my oven at 300 for a 5lbs pork shoulder. So worth the wait. This recipe will be a definite repeater. Make it soon guys!

    It's often useful to leave on the fat for cooking and then remove it afterwards. Makes it more juicy - otherwise you might find your pork butt gets too dry.

  • @willydawgs

    I love that you mention the slow cooker and that you find the oven a better method here. I've been watching you for awhile and really appreciate that you DON'T use a slow cooker (I don't even own one -- gasp!). Personally, I feel everything that comes out of one sort-of all tastes the same and has the same texture -- blech. My opinion on that isn't very popular among my fellow Americans -- lol. I have a pressure cooker that REALLY does the job if I'm in a hurry but preserves the integrity of the meat and the flavors and the nutrients. Thanks for this recipe, Laura! Gonna put this on my list of things to try!

  • @KeithSansevere
    @KeithSansevere Před 10 lety +1

    I recently bought a pressure cooker and I made pulled pork for the first time the other day. I didn't know you had a pulled pork recipe. I should know better. Anyway, I used a store bought pork rub, sliced up a sweet onion that half went on the bottom of the pot, and the other half went on top of the pork. Then I poured a can of ginger ale on top as was suggested to me. After two hours in the pressure cooker, the meat just fell apart and I used a sweet vidalia onion bbq sauce. It was fantastic. I'm going to try yours next and modify it for my pressure cooker. I don't have 6 hours to wait to eat lol.

    Hi Laura! I have made the pork according to your recipe, and it was the best pork I have ever tried! I can't thank you enough, your recipe is amazing. This was so unbelievably delicious, I didn't think pork can taste like this. Tried the pulled pork with BBQ sauce and without it and can't decide which one is better. Was to hungry to make coleslaw, so just chopped some fresh tomatoes, and they matched really well. Best wishes to you. And thank you so much for all your effort. By the way, I cooked quite a lot of your recipes and they all turn out exceeding all possible expectations. Thank you so much, Laura!

    Thank you Laura for the love and attention that goes into your videos. I don't know how I have lived so many years without your cooking delights but I do know that the quality of my cooking has skyrocketed. We love your meatloaf. We have it twice a month. We would have it more often but we work on the left overs for days each time I make it. This recipe for BBQ pulled pork looks fantastic. I don't like the flavor that my slow cooker renders to my recipes. Everything tastes the same to me in my slow cooker. So I will definitely be using the oven. What can I do to make sure this recipe turns out really, really, tender? Is it all in cooking low, slow, and long or is their something you add to the recipe when you want to make sure it turns out tender?

    Laura, I love your show! It's informative, entertaining, and you have a presence on the camera...I'd rather watch you than some of the people I watch regularly on the Food Network or Cooking Channel. Nonetheless, you've inspired me to get back into the kitchen which was my original passion since I was a kid. I'm looking at graduating from college in about a year, and I WAS planning on heading to medical school and becoming a doctor, but I honestly HATE it and I'm going to start culinary school this fall. Altough this is a way of cooking pulled pork, i think would have been better if dry spices were mixed with some acid (orange juice, lime, vinegar, or a combination of theese) then rubbed the pork with them. And an important step when oven cooking in foil is to sear (brown) the meat first. anyway nice recipe.

    • @bv8985
      @bv8985 Před 8 lety

      +Johnny C. hi Johnny! What do you mean by to sear (brown) the meat first? To cook it for a bit without the foil?
      Also, have you use any acid in your recipe for the dry spices? Which one do you prefer?

    • @topdigitall
      @topdigitall Před 8 lety +5

      +Jocelyn Vasquez Yes, browning and searing are basically same thing. As for slow cooking, i do not recommend a tray and a oven. Proper slow cooking its made in the dutch oven (heavy iron cast pot). Just cut the meat in fist size chunks, add a bit of oil in the pot and heat it properly (almost to smoking point), brown the meat on all sides (make sure meat is at room temperature, properly seasoned with salt and pepper and no water on it before add it to the pot). When meat is browned, deglaze the pot with a bit of red wine, add some roughly chopped onions, garlic and carrots, and cook them for 1..2 minutes with the meat stirring often, then add red wine (just to cover a bit over half of the meat), add your favourite herbs and spices, cook uncovered on medium-high heat to reduce half of the wine, add freshly squeezed orange juice mixed with lime juice (2 parts orange/one part lime) to replace the reduced red wine, cover the pot and cook on low heat untill all the liquid insde reduced and formed like a sauce and the meat is soft and easy to shred (should not take more than 3..4 hours depending on how much liquid u added) . During slow cooking make sure to check the meat from time to time and scrap the bottom of the pot, especially at the end becouse the thickened liquid tends to burn at the bottom. When done, remove the meat, shred it and mix it with some sauce from the pot. And one more thing, if the oranges are not sweet enough, add some sugar to the mixed juice (need to go that tangy sweety taste).

      yes, you can cook however you want but when you wanna make your food amaizing..not just good, you need to follow some steps and cooking techniques, its about chemistry afterall and balancing the flavours and tastes...for that need proper skills, some say that good chefs are born with theese skills, thats why some can cook amaizing foods, and others not.
