Watch this short beginner’s tutorial video guide on how to box, boxing rules, and how to fight. And yes, I know the stoppage in this fight is a little bogus - but it's the only footage I could find without downloading massive clips.
Ninh Ly can you make another sports video rules ?
Ninh Ly fencing rules or judo rules please
Thanks man, glad you approve!
I'll stick it on the list, as everyone's been asking for it recently.
But it's right at the bottom of the pile unless I get, like, an overwhelming demand.
Thanks.
it's great although you could d a bit about the southpaw advantage
Imagine slipping and dodging everything like you in that matrix mode and the ref stops the fight. How tf
That's pretty much what happened. That stoppage sucked.
Sums up what I wanted to say
Omfg omg I’d be so fucking mad did the fight results get overturned? Cause that’s fucking retarded
Who are the 2 boxers?
What’s what happened in this video man the fighter must be so angry to get stoped like this when he was slipping all the hits
1:50 that ref's trash though. man was slipping everything
Exactly.
was about to say the same thing. I would be HEATED if I was Blue Trunks.
yeah, what a fucking moron
Facts. Wtf was that!?
Arhum Ahmad yo wtf😂😂😂
1:50 ref stops fight even though he is clearly able to dodge ALmost a dozen blows> i would have been pissed too.
Yes exactly.
Yeah wth
@@Mahdi-eh7rc FIXED IN MY OPINION
@@jerrysmooth24 Unanswered generally implies said punches were landing.
Jerry Smooth yeah 20+ punches that didn’t even land
I hope that ref was FIRED and NEVER reffed again. He straight up took his opportunity away like
Probably was.
I think the stoppage was premature but he didn’t punch back so it wasn’t too bad by the ref
@@juliansteen109 Not UNANSWERED though. He was reactive to every punch being defensively responsive. Not just in the ropes with his hands up eating punch after punch. That opportunity was taken for sure. Didnt see the fight itself though so I'm just speaking from this video 😅
@@juliansteen109 He was still intelligently defending himself. No stoppage was necessary
That cab driver wasnt ganna l be anybody
I’m getting into boxing thank you a lot
Cool, glad this video helps! Be sure to check out my channel for more like this!
MMA is better
Both great but when it comes to boxing MMA fighters arent really that good
JustMe when it comes to an actual complete fight the mma fighter wins
@@bobbyhilltats Boxing is part of mma and is usually what you should start with when learning to fight.
Great video as always! I don't really watch boxing but at 1:45 the guy imo defended really well using rapid head movement and didn't let his opponent hit him. I think it's a bit unfair that the ref stopped the game and he seemed upset, too.
Yeah, I think the Referee stopped it a little prematurely as he wasn't actually being hit by any of those punches.
I think what you don't see is that the defending boxer didn't throw a single punch for like 20 seconds and the referee may have interpreted that as the boxer being unable to defend himself.
Well spotted though.
panoC97 are you a dolph lundgren, sylvester stallone or rocky fan
Number One what are you talking about? You think that was a good stoppage? He didn't land 2 punch you idiot
Some refs get paid by the one team to stop the fight early in order to secure more money and fame for themselves
Caden Sheerin in your head, yes the do
WTF 1:45 that was great defense, f*** that referee.
Agreed! Referee got that one badly wrong. It illustrated my point though! Thanks for stopping by! :)
The definition of being robbed
Yeah that was ridiculous I would be hot if I was that fighter
Just slowed down the footage and I counted about 16 punches thrown with only 4 landing that red should be arrested for robbery
That pissed me off
Yuph... He have good reflex to dodge the punch...
It's the best defense move, to dodge the punch or to clinch instead to hold it with hand (because you got hurt/damage in your hand that hold the punch)...
But It's not entertaining to audience... 😅
Maybe the referee got bored by his defense tactic... 😅
The stoppage shown was so bad. I had to rewind. The video itself was good but seeing that was ridiculous almost all the punches thrown were missed.
Yes, I agree. It's the only stoppage i could find that illustrated my point without having to download a 2 hour video for 15 seconds worth of footage. That said, that was an awful stoppage by the referee. That dude was pissed. Thanks for stopping by!
Ninh Ly Thanks for the reply, im very sure it would be hard yup find a boxing stoppage with good film. Unlike mma.
Yeah MMA sucks for that! Thanks again! :)
Just dropped a zoot in the bath
Lol shouldnt have been show boating they need to do that for huggers

A few things to point out.
First, the most common scoring method in boxing is the "10 point must system", where the judge must award 10 points to the fighter who they believe won the round, and the other fighter gets 9 or less (1 point is generally deducted each time they're knocked down). As mentioned before, points are also deducted for fouls, therefore if a fighter that won the round committed a foul, then the round would be scored 9-9 (or 9-8 for one knockdown).
The number of rounds depend of the type of fight, with lesser fights generally lasting four, six, eight, or ten rounds.
There are many forms of decisions in boxing. First, we have "unanimous decision", where all three judges have one fighter as the winner. Then, we have majority decision, where two of the judges score in favor of one fighter, while the third rules it a draw. Split decision--where two judges score in favor of one fighter, and the third scores in favor of the other fighter. Split draw--one judge rules in favor of one boxer, the second judge rules in favor of his opponent, and the third rules it a draw. Majority draw--two judges rule it a draw, while the third rules for one of the fighters. Unanimous draw--all three judges rule it a draw.
And I love the "absolutely no biting" thing you used for the video.
Thanks for your comments. To answer your points ...
a) I'm fully aware that judges score out of 10, but remember, this is a beginners video and I keep it simple for a COMPLETE BEGINNER to understand.
b) I used the phrase 'up to 12 rounds' as I know different levels have differing number of rounds.
Remember, this is a beginners video and I keep it simple for a COMPLETE BEGINNER to understand.
c) I'm aware of the forms of decisions, but remember, this is a beginners video and I keep it simple for a COMPLETE BEGINNER to understand.
See a theme here? The reason why my videos work is that I don't explain every rule and nuance.
And if I did put in all the detail that you mentioned, it'll add another minute to the video and finding another minute of footage to support those points.
Sometimes less is more.
Some people really don't know the rules of Boxing. I think it's common sense, but a lot of people don't - hence why I made the video. So stop being so condescending just because you know the rules.
@@NinhLyUK sorry, but a complete begginer would also like to know these rules, specially how they count the points. I clicked on the video expecting that.
I don’t think he’s being condescending mate. I think he’s just try to educate people just like you did with the video
@@NinhLyUK Just some constructive critiscm:
I get what you're trying go say in this being a complete beginner guide but the dude is right tbh. Beginners would want to know all of that info.
And you come off as kind of aggressive in this comment like the man was just giving some extra (but importsnt) details.
Logan Paul has left the chat.
He most certainly has.
@@NinhLyUK hahahaha
Hahaha may be he has reported this channel before his departure :)
Waseem Khan for sure😂
1:50 *BULLLSSHITTT TKO RIGHT THERE*
disqualify the ref instead
Yes, that was bad.
Great video man! That Tko stoppage was so ridiculous tho, I can't believe the ref stopped it!!!
Thanks man. Yeah, that stoppage was bullshit, but it was the only footage I could find that indicated the point without downloading a full fight.
Right🤦🏽♂️
yeah man the guy just able to defend himself with head movement and the referee stop him, that's a bullshit stopage
Probably the most basic and straight forward sport when it comes to rules.
watching that stoppage made me pissed, dodged everything thrown
Yes, that was a bullshit stoppage.
Yay. Been waiting for this video for a long time. Better late than never haha!
Yes, I have a whole bunch of them to make but only limited time to do so.
Thank you for educating me. This is something ill need in the future.
Thanks, glad this helps.

I had to play the video twice to realize you used a remix of Balrog/Bison theme song from Street Fighter! Great choice for a great video!
Well spotted! It's the Balrog theme from Street Fighter V.
I would really love to know more in depth how the competitions work. Great video, super helpful.
Thanks Olivia. But what do you mean by comeptitions?
Ninh Ly like, the day spent fighting. i do dance and we spend the entire day doing the routines and getting scores and it’s called a competition. they tell us who won what and who is going to the next level of competition. i was just wondering how it worked for boxing?
@@oliviaharris4632 I'm answering sort of late, and also from a perspective of someone who doesn't live in America or the UK, but I'll try my best to explain.
Usually before the fight, boxers will do something called the weight cut. This involves usually, training in a sauna suit to sweat out excess fluid and thus make you lighter. After the weight cut, boxers will rehydrate and do a carbohydrate refill. Usually the rest of the day is spent resting and figuring out strategy for the fight, this is done by examining your opponents strategy and finding weak points to use and strong points to avoid. Then right before the fight, you usually will hit pads, get a warmup and get mentally ready. Hitting pads is really common, because it will sharpen your reaction ability so you're not mentally "cold" in the ring. After the fight, you usually just recover and rest, since the camp beforehand, the weightcut and the fight itself usually takes a really heavy toll.
Hope this helped :)
Good stuff mate 🔥🔥 this really helped me out 🔥

Hi Ninh, I'm an 18 year old guy who has a real interest in boxing after watching Mayweather vs McGregor and then going back over Mayweather vs Pacquiao. This video really helped me understand the sport better. Next comes the training!

Thanks for that. When I was in elementary school, in fourth grade, our teacher, a nun, asked the class what a TKO was. Now I can tell her.

Thank You so much for this, considering MMA fans like myself doesn't know about all its rules and regulations, so this is definitely a winning video for it.
can't wait to see the showdown between McGreagor vs Mayweather Aug 26.
Cheers for the comments! As for Mayweather vs McGregor ... at first I thought Mayweather all the way. Now I'm not so sure.
that is the reason why people are gonna bet the hell out of this one, anything can happen and that's the super excitement part, MW has all the support and odds oh his side, but McGregor has no footage on him so he has to surprise, gonna be a fun weekend.
I guess we'll have to see. But there's no way I'm paying $100 to watch it. Online streams is the way to go.

*The referee had one job*
and he messed it up
one of the reasons why referees should at least understand the concepts of fighting
Yes, it was a bad stoppage.
hello. i love how you explain it, how about a video regarding boxer's weight classes, why cutting weights, rehydration protocols, etc? would love a good explanation for that mate. :D
I'll consider it.
@@NinhLyUK thanks mate. even just thinking about it deserves thanks. :)
I like how in these videos, someone who doesnt even know or even heard of boxing can understand these videos.
That's the idea Daniel, I try and make these videos for a complete beginner to understand. Otherwise, what's the point? Cheers :)
Nice video, but i would also include the point system for a more clear picture.
If you win a round you score 10 points, if you lose 9 and a foul can cost you 1 or 2 points like a low blow or a headbutt.
Also a knockdown cost the fighter who goes down 1 point.
If the fight goes on to the end the one with most points wins.
Yes, good points.
I probably should have gone into more detail about the points system, but didn't want to confuse a complete beginner.
Thanks bro.
This is a good vid
