Today we are finally starting to do some projects around the house after spending ages moving and unpacking. As always, disaster strikes, but that doesn't stop me from decorating and DIYing to make this place look better!

Hey Hermione, I know you have put a lot of work into this place but if it doesn’t feel safe, then talk to the agent. Being in a new relationship and moving in with each other is a lot and so is dealing with two dogs in a small space. Make sure you and Hailey are taking time for each other and just being in love and together. ❤
Sending you the biggest hug! May your dreams of France become a reality real soon!
I really hope that mold gets removed/they fix the source of the leak. It is very dangerous for your health & we've had to deal with it in a rental where we ended up having to move because it kept coming back.
As someone who currently cannot rent alone (like most people around me, not in this city), I live the fantasy through these videos of how I wish to decorate my own rented place. I like how aesthetic and cozy it looks the result overall.
I feel your pain. I moved in with a friend temporarily to save money, we moved into a really spacious house last summer. Fast forward 6 months and we were battling damp, black mould and various infestations that weren't there in the warmer weather when we viewed the place... it's been a slog but we keep thinking how lucky we are to have somewhere safe to live. It's a nightmare but it could be worse.
You've got this!!
I’ve been in a nightmarish project THAT ALL STARTED OUT WITH JUST TRYING TO CHANGE OUT FAUCET IN BATHROOM SINK! I’ve been without working sink for 2 weeks now. Someone here now to deal and install a tiny little vanity. Fingers crossed I have a working sink by tonight!
Omg!! I hope you got it all fixed! It all starts with one tiny project and snowballs
I still think wall mounted cabinets or shelves over the doggie couch could really be a storage solution for all the extra stuff you need to store and are sick of looking at.
We are in the throes of a HUGE renovation project and replacing all the floors is next. We have already had the ceilings scraped (of popcorn) sanded and painted. Then we primed and painted every room. It’s exhausting! lol I’m ready for it to be over. After floors will be replacing all the windows. Thankfully, a contractor will do that one.
Great improvements.! Remember "Rome wasn't built in a day!"... take your time and give yourself grace!
I would use a wood stick/poll on the top edge of the dog tapestry to keep the material straight so you don't have those pull lines. You could roll some over the wood so you don't see the wood.
Good luck saving up to move to France. That sounds amazing and everything is easier when you have a firm goal.
But mould and electrocution are no joke. Lots of open windows, mould spray, and if necessary, stay with friends till that is sorted. People underestimate how dangerous mould can be.
You’ve sensibly not revealed too much about the layout of the building, is there a neighbour above you who perhaps has a leaking appliance that you can track down? Are you under a blocked rainwater hopper? Flashing from the roof that is split? It looks dirty, so looks like long term seepage rather than a new sudden leak. Hope it is an easy fix. But you might have to cut your losses on this one and just run. Mould is a cause of long term health problems and if the landlord is not inclined to fix it/the law doesn’t force them to, it’s not worth risking your health and the dog’s health. Do you have records that the leak started after you signed the lease? So you couldn’t have been aware there was a problem in advance? If they’d covered it up by painting over it for example you might be able to get out without penalty.
“What do you mean there’s something wrong with this couch?” Bing probably 😂
I hope that you are able to get those things fixed and make the place a cozy home for yourself, Hailey and the pups.
Ditch that place I know you want to save money but with two ppl sharing the rent you should be able to find something better. Living comfortably is worth it.
Aprt in korea sucks it’s challenging and with all that fixing cost it’s better to look for other place keep looking unfortunately cuz it’s actually nt worth any money at all tbh gd luck my dear
When I first read your comment I was like “Nah, she can handle it.” Then I got to the part with the mold and cockroaches and I get it now 😂
You'll be hard to find a Korean apartment without mold.
I agree I feel so sorry for your situation, and I know moving sucks, but your life is happening now! Screw the south of France- its not worth this torture!!! You deserve at the very least a place without mould, electrical fires about to break out and without cockroaches❤❤❤
If you call that place torture you are very privileged. Wow
That pink filing cabinet 😅 i NEED
Oh my I'd be outta there in a shot. And in my mind, fire alarms should be a building's responsibility.
YES. There is no way that place is legally fit to be lived in by anyone. The electrical could have electrocuted someone. The fire alarms should have been standard. There should be CO detectors as well. They need to get out of this place
@@CaliMel184 truly!!!
Fire alarms are not mandatory in every country.
@@GardensOfChina Well it's pretty stupid not to have them if you own property, since it protects the property as a whole to have them!
You made me utterly LOL about whether to steam the hanging! I felt your absolute defeat in your reaction-thank you for sharing, and extra thank you for giving us these delicious DIYs!
I think this is very realistic. People who urge you to move have not rented in a while! I am sure you will manage the situation as long as that water damage is addressed. From living in China, cockroaches tend to be attracted to food in the open so be super consistent at taking away crumbs etc and close lid bin.
The blanket on the couch looks amazing! You can barely tell that it's there, it does not disrupt the clean look of the couch. These improvements that seem little end up collectively making a big impact. Lovely ideas as always, you make me wanna improve my place aswell. ♥
Ugh, totally understand how frustrating it is to move into a place and eventually realize you hate it! I hope things eventually work out. 😊
Perhaps for the dog leads you could get a nice raffia shopping basket to hang up on one of those pegs and hide the dogs stuff in it.
Yay, another vlog ❤
Your sewing machine is the Aldi one I bought a couple of years ago. It’s such a lovely tiny machine and I travel with it because it’s so portable! Do I prefer to sew with my real machine? Yes. But the little one works for simple things.
I put up actual wallpaper for the first time last week! It took forever but I now have two feature walls in my house
I feel like moving in to a new place is always a nightmare, things always go badly until a certain point. You have to hang in there!! Happened to me in my current place for literally 4 months until it got better and now I'm almost 4 years in and it is much better
It always takes so much longer than it seems like it will 😅 I'm glad I'm not the only one and also glad that you're settled in now :)
I'm thinking this place is pretty sketchy.
Great progress!!❤️
It’s looking great so far! And most of us can only do a little at a time. I love seeing the realism of that even if we have to wait to see more! 😂
You're making some great improvements! Love seeing the Hermione touch :)
Love the DIY project!
I think that fake wood panels would look great on the wall at the entrance😌
You did such a great job with the apartment!
I think it is time to switch apartments..... old ones usually are not the best ones to live in
They probably have a 12 mth lease- Hard to get out of without great expense.
@@katbar6066 considering there is mold and other things, there is risk for your health to stay there. therefor it should be easier for you to break the lease. they cant stop you from that.
@@michaelaeriksson No they can't stop you from breaking the lease but I bet there are penalties galore for doing so and who is to say that they have the same type of tribunals that other countries have where you can plead your case. This is Korea not the UK,US or Aus.
@@katbar6066 this is why you always should see the apartment before you sign a lease on it. plus it doesnt seem fully safe and the amount of changes you need to do. and the penalties should not be paid by you since you did not create the mold itself. thats just dumb.
She saw it but there wasn’t mold. Come on if you think anyone can just move at will you must be in a great economical situation
Moving is always stressful. You will be fine ❤❤❤
Congrats 👏🎉 that you moving to different chapters in your life Hermione.
i just moved to korea two weeks ago. i'm currently trying to furnish my apartment and get the bare essentials without having a korean bank account or phone number. absolutely love a challenge hahaha
The pink cabinet is so cute! Where did you get it from?
Just started the video, but Hermione: you look so pretty in the teal/green color you have on!! Makes your eyes pop and skin look so healthy. Xx ❤
Edit: spelling
You're a survivor. But I would move ASAP. LOL. Peace 🕊️
🤣 Trying not to break the lease
What, you plan to move to the South of France? Awesome idea!
Have you gotten the mold and electrical problem fixed since making this video?
have they been round to inspect that water mark in the ceiling? looks...interesting
❤
Get outta there and move directly to the south of France! 🇫🇷 😊
I enjoyed this comment because it gave me a chance to remember my French! Only a couple of words I had to look up.
i’m always wondering what hair colour you are using and now I saw vibrant red by Wella in your luggage. Which number was it?
You are a good sport. This apartment is awful compared to your other space. Mold, funky electrical issues etc. etc. etc. I'd be out of there in a nano second. France can't come soon enough.
Love the solution you came up with for the closet light! Simple, cheap, and renter-friendly 👍🏻👍🏻 May want to invest in an air purifier for your home to prevent you lovelies from breathing in the mould spores? Also, I made a purchase of Wild deodorant using your code 😊😊
Could you place some window screening against the inside of your fan where the cockroach came from? I’ve done that with my fans/vents. You can’t see it and itprevents critters from entering but still allows passage of air
There’s not such a thing as one cockroach they need to leave
Yes! I found some and put it over both fans and haven't seen one since! It works so well. I think it was a one off :)
Hi Hermione, what did Haley bring besides the two cute doggies to the new apartment? It still looks like all your great things, but I don't see any of her taste represented there. It still looks like you're doing all the cleaning and putting away things yourself...be careful, girl.🤗...Love your channel.
She brought her stuff, but lets me decorate as she knows its for youtube :) and that's why I do all the putting stuff away on here. I only show what I do when she's at work as this is my job. We split the chores
how long are you thinking of living in this apartment/Korea?????
love from England
That's scary bad electrics and mold you poor things sit on your landlord about those repairs and stay with friends to get the place sprayed. Hard to see these things when you visit apartments. Use a large blanket on the sofa a great fix solution when you have pets easy to clean. I got a glass and metal mesh cabinet for my plants as I have a cat and new wood bench as can't stand sofas I am making my own cushion pads for it. I also made an skinny pantry for my kitchen as lack in accessible storage space that I can change to a magnet lock to keep my cat out of it also putting legs on it to keep off the floor. I am sorry to hear of your issues and hope they will work themselves out :) love the pink cabinet btw :)
Did the couch cover come with sticks? Like are you meant to tuck the sticks in the crevases and it streatches the fabric?
Yeah I accidentally throw them away 🥲 so now I need to make some more
Sincerely, I waa asking why you chosed this appartment... The South of France is the best possible answer.
Take your time, you have tackled bigger projects in the past, I'm sure you'll get to enjoy a cozy, beautiful appartment. Love to Hailey and the doggos! ❤
They are smoke alarms not fire alarms.
Do you still have your house in the UK? Also great vlog :)
I've been wondering this aswell. I remember a while ago saying about someone renting it?
Start laying the foundation for the South of France dear Hermione! You don't need all the stuff you have in your apartment~ Think of jobs, opportunities and things you want to do there. Then start building the dream. It's not about just saving the money darling. It's about so much more! Love you and now Hailey too~ ❤❤ Joan
The entry way with the grey see through area that you don’t like. Get 2 pictures in frames and put one on each side that are big enough to cover it.
Saving money seems to have a cost
If i don't see a bit of a mess in a house, i won't believe someone lives there.
So true!!
I looked up the deodorant thing, and it's apparently due to a gene mutation that links earwax to underarms. If one produces "wet" earwax (nearly all those of European and African decent) one will also produce stinky armpits. If one produces "dry" earwax, (nearly all East Asians) one will not have odiferousness in their under sleeves.
You need to buy some huge ikea cabinets to put all the stuff!
🤩💌🌻🌷⚘️🌈💅
First 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Love your vibes. Thanks for sharing
Just my opinion but, I think you should do a little DIY on that brown piece of furniture you have (media cabinet?) It looks very mid century modern and while it’s a nice piece it would look so much better with some mcm legs on it rather than sitting directly on the floor.
Don't use spray on cockroaches, as it can cause their eggs to burst and lead to a larger infestation.
What do you suggest that you use instead? I'd really appreciate knowing. Thank you
You guys need to find a new place. That place is literally unsafe to be in. The lease should be invalid if it's unsafe to live in, which it is. Put your stuff in storage. Find somewhere else.
I totally agree, but it's not that easy in a foreign country to find a short term lease with two dogs. Moving in was tough enough so we're trying t make it work and it's improved 100% since this was filmed
I’m sure we all live very busy lives…..🤨
She says „and like you“ 😅
Piece of advice from a person older than you not patronising...stop buying....i know its part of your you tube but think about it...i follow you since uk 👍👍
Can you speak Korean!!??
Enough to get by and have simple conversations :)
@@HermioneChantal OMG Hermione responded!!! TYSM! I didn't think of subbing but bc I am Korean(but live Australia) and all I am going to sub!!! Also loved your videos from like 5-6 years ago on DIY stuff! Keep up the great content!
As a Lawyer break the lease , That place is not safe of healthy, Saving money is one thing but you stuffed in a place plus two dogs . this is not how your use to living
I wish it was that easy in Korea 🥲 I agree though! But we are making it work
Is your dog allergic to its food ❤ poor thing 🤮
Why did you move into such a crappy place? Like the others have said you should move since it’s 2 people sharing rent. Not worth it. I never thought I was gonna see you living like that.
This is the reality of living abroad. Finding a new place with two dogs for a short term rental is impossible. I'm sharing because it's reality and honestly I like the challenge.
I think this is very realistic. People who urge you to move have not rented in a while! I am sure you will manage the situation as long as that water damage is addressed. Thank you! We got a dud apartment and now we're stuck and that's reality. Especially the reality when you live abroad and navigating a system in another language. Thank you for the tips! :) We've been making sure there's no scraps of food since and I've blocked all the holes they can come through so we haven't seen one since (long may it last!!)
❤
