How could a human being see that mule with his leg hanging off and not give him the last act of kindness!!!!!!!!!shame on those people that watched him go by and didn’t step in! Thank God for you guys!
My heart ❤️. I literally broke down and cried when I saw that! Bless you.
That tore me to shreds, I had to sit my phone down and walk away to regroup. Mind boggling. I think outreach to communities is so important to let those who may no longer have the finances to pay for a vet or even euthanasia and disposal (as I would imagine it is costly)...something to encourage people to reach out for help. My God, communities can accomplish amazing things when they work together. A simple FB post, a phone call to local vets seeking help would likely have prevented such prolonged suffering for this animal.
@@eury5405I did the same thing when I watched that one go by.
I wanted to give you some information about trying to get help for euthanizing a horse. It isn't easy trying to get help to euthanize a horse. Most small towns, like mine, don't even have a horse vet anymore. We have to travel almost 3 1/2 hours to get to a decent vet hospital. A once booming horse community is suffering hard times and 4 years ago it cost us over $600, probably a lot higher now, for the euthanasia and care of the body. It was good we were able to coordinate it with a vet that comes down once a month or we would have had to have someone shoot him. An awful death for a beloved family member in my eyes, that I couldn't do. I learned the hard way that when you need financial help for a horse for any reason, people just won't help. They say plenty of nasty things about you, even though they don't know what's really going on.
Yeah, I was shocked someone out this poor soul onto a trailer. I'm genuinely surprised the donkey didn't go down and was trampled to death, because that happens a lot to horses with severe leg issues on overcrowded trailers. Maybe the trailer wasn't full. Still, that ride must've been hell for the donkey.
A whole trailer load of babies - the result of too much (irresponsible) breeding, personal tragedies, the dire shortage of hay in some regions - it breaks my heart.
So glad their journey led them to HPHS 🧡🙏🏻
Many come off the Indian reservations. That's why horse plus works so hard to provide gelding clinics to these reservations!
Yes. Irresponsible breeding!!!!;
I'm SO glad you mentioned irresponsible breeding! There just SO MUCH OF IT! And nobody should breed horses when there are already too many.
Well I burst into tears when I saw that donkey with the messed up front leg. Thank you for taking care of them.
Me too. Heart wrenching to think of them standing in a trailer like that but so glad they don't need to struggle anymore 😢
All of those horses came off that trailer looking too exhausted to be scared. Dehydrated. Which was bad enough. And then I saw the donkey. That shot is going to be coming back in fundraising videos.
Dr. Lydia is such a treasure. Not only vet extraordinaire but a very good horse handler as well. So impressive that she does whatever is necessary to get through the intake. She doesn't hold herself above doing the menial tasks. Love her. Dr. Gina is great as well!
Dr. Gina too 🙂
You can see Dr. Lydia's heart breaking a little every time there is a horse she cannot help....
Dr.Lydia is remarkable she handles every horse with love and care, like they are her own I just love her. Tawnee and Jason are such amazing people and they work so hard to keep rescuing these poor injured and sick and lonely horses. I have a lot of respect for them, they are doing a very hard job.
I am so glad that that donkey with the mushed up right front leg came here so he/she can be set free. When it first appeared I instantly started crying. I can't even imagine how much pain it was in. That poor baby. May you now be pain free and running wild. I hope you give it a name
She was called Raisin.
These poor babies . Take good care of them!🙏🏻
The song and lyrics put to the video was a big tear jerker. It spoke the truth of the love the team has for all God's helpless & suffering horses. It made what my eyes saw in the video sink deeper into my soul.
Whoever wrote it, composed it, and sang it, did a heartfelt masterpiece.
I pray miracles over all of your lives!
The song definitely sounds like AI.
@@sarahbeth4934 maybe that's why it made me so uneasy. I also love hearing what the vets have to say as they go through the process.
Sad and impossible to bare - these wonderful horses would not be helpless and suffering if the humans who had them before had hearts and consciousness
Oh my gosh, that poor mule with the broken leg. No words.
That donkey made me so sad and really angry at people that sent the donkey instead of doing the right thing thank you guys for careing for these horses and donkeys at their time of need
They made the right choice by brining it to us.
When altering a stallion:
"Their thought process changes from ASS to GRASS"
I've seen almost immediate change.
But, yes, I've seen (so called) "well trained stallions" seriously hurt it's owner/handler.
Don't believe the hype!
Stallions can be dangerous to people, other horses!!
Thx to everyone that love and care for these magnificent creatures!
💕🐎
Best true comment ever lol
I'll say it a million times! Why is there no prosecution and jail time! Total bs
No words for the poor mule with the broken leg...I felt it's pain. How do people ignore something like that?
I've seen just as bad in two town donkeys (injured and so let loose to fend for themselves) in a village in India. I approached the local vets to see if I could pay for euthanasia but due to Hindu beliefs they refused to help. It is truly horrendous what people can look the other way and accept.
@@classicambo9781 : perhaps a different belief system in India...afterall, we in the USA slaughter billions of animals in the industrialized, traumatizing factory farming of cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, duck, and lamb; and, sending horses to slaughter in Canada and Mexico still exists....and puppy mills ...
Animals used in medicine and science, too...
Unreal!!!
What person with a heart can let a horse starve or mistreat like that ? Thanks Tawnee and your whole team you guys really are heroes !
All these precious horses, once someones best friend, disposed like garbage.. It's even sadder that some of the horses that has been treated so poorly still are kind to humans and want to be petted.. I am crying.. Thank god for people like you guys.
I had to cover my face when the poor donkey came off the trailer walking on what looked like a broken leg.
I had to look away, so sad, can't imagine the pain.
@@humaneleaguelancPA
And they can't talk to tell us how painful it is. Or where it hurts.
NO ONE CAN WATCH THIS AND BE UNMOVED. Silently they walk by, mutely revealing the lack of attention to their needs. Thank GOD the drivers of those trucks accepted the buy out offer of Horse Plus.

Thanks for researching that info. 👍
Such a beautiful boy ❤
#istandforthebrand
What's that got to do with this video?
The donkey killed me. 😢
The stallions are absolutely beautiful and it's amazing how gentle they were being with each other. A perfect example of why people shouldn't make a fuss just when the animals being loud and not doing anything wrong. Maybe a stallion is not perfect for every level of Horsemanship however people get lazy with a little extra training stallions can be some of the most well-behaved well natured rewarding horses you will ever own
It takes a lot more work and facilities to care for a stallion properly than it does a gelding. Yes, we need stallions to perpetuate the different breeds, but any that are not registered or high quality need to be gelded.
That way they're not looking for mares and can be kept with all the rest of the horses. I've known of stallions that have been kept away from any other horses unless they are going to breed them during the breeding season. They live alone which is not a great life for a herd animal.
For a riding animal, I prefer a gelding as there are no hormones so I don't have to deal with a sometimes moody mare or a stallion who is looking for a mare to breed. Plus, they are ready any time you want to ride or just hang out.
Keep grabbing those auction commissions. You are getting them where it hurts!
Please nobody take this wrong but I think it was a blessing in disguise that the Auction Owners no longer allowed Horse Plus to come there, because of such a minor issue. You guys fought hard and stood your ground for what you and many others believe in..Saving horses from the slaughter pipeline ❤ So glad that many are coming to your facility, in the buyout program and skipping the auction. Although there were those foals that had auction numbers on them😮but no matter what you have them now. Plus kudos to you Jason for protecting the seller’s identity 🙏So I hope the buyout continues.. This saves time for your team travelling, less stress on the horse and more time for evaluating the horses. Keep up the good work…Kory must be proud that Jason misses him so much 😂 can’t remember how many times he mentioned his name..
Gotta take a vacation sometime..lol me I'm doing same thing at work..2 years no vacation ( were always " short handed, and my vacation is use it or loose it..smh) I SO need a vacation, get away from WORK lol. come back refreshed and raring to go...( And ..my boss will be having to do MY job.. lmfao..that out to be interesting..I think she's going to get a dose of reality, that my job isn't so EASY...
That was my thought exactly! They are getting lots more horses/donkeys/ponies/mules that they did before. That doesn't mean that they can't add the auction back in at some point in time, but this is an AMAZING opportunity in and of itself!
When one door closes, God opens another one.
The song was beautiful. So glad all these beautiful souls found horse plus.
When I saw that donkey with a broken leg I thought to myself how could anyone let this poor donkey suffer like that it really breaks my heart to see how some people can be so cruel and heartless to these amazing gorgeous animals, thank you for saving these gorgeous horses and donkeys from the hands of cruel people ❤️ ❤❤.
The father son stallions are so frisky and loud! They're like "WE OWN THIS PLACE WE ARE FULL OF TESTOSTERONE!"
And YES THEY ARE! 🤣😂
I saw the comments about the poor little donkey, and I still wasn't prepared. That poor baby. How anyone could look at him and not immediately do the right thing is something I'll never understand.
Stallions acting like stallions. That poor little donkey with the broken leg just broke my heart, how can anyone look at that poor baby and ignore its plight and just load it up to continue the ride of misery? One or several heartless ppl out there. May its misery end and it be set free here. So many scared babies, wow. Kory is going to be busy.
My heart is so broken at seeing the abuse of these animals. Such awesome majestic creatures. When are the laws going to change against this abuse.
The Standardbreds are so pretty breaks my heart to see those kind eyes in pain
To me, it seems that you’re getting more horses then you did when you went to the action. Also, they are coming to you instead of you and your staff having to travel and stay the night, that has got to save you money.
Plus the time and effort and trying to figure out how to deal with the horses that are too damaged to make the trip to HPHS. They can do the intake as soon as the horses arrive rather than a day or 2 afterward. As Tawnee mentioned, they're now seeing the draft horses coming that would have been out of their price range at the auction. I think this turn of events has been a godsend for HPHS and the animals involved.
Wow so many babies.
I just ache when I see the condition of these poor babies
Dr.Lydia eine unglaublich LIEBE Tierärztin
I am so glad you were able to intercept all of these sweet horses, the babies, the poor adults in need of a kind end to their journey. I am glad to see that their suffering is at an end and the babies get a chance at a new beginning with good homes.
Julie Fletcher is so caring for her Belgian draft horses. ❤
Very very depressing I cannot imagine handling these horses like you do bless you all
Oh my gosh, what you guys go through seeing this first hand. I used to rescue small animals and know the toll it takes emotionally. Most people don't understand how hard it is. To see animals in these conditions is just....breaking. Thank you all for your continued hard work 🙏
Huge shout out to your song writer. I got goose-bumps and cried every time. This makes him incredible. Love and Peace.
Cory needs a break and his lady, they work hard.
🎯💯
My heart breaks every time I watch your rescues. So sad the condition of these horses and shame on the owners. May God continue to give you all the strength and the comfort of caring for these animals.
Those babies are so beautiful
Jason and Tawnee, I suggested to Julie at Fletcher Farms Amarillo to contact you. They rescue Beglians and give them retirement homes. They take such good care of them. I thought they might be a good home for Dora. Julie responded to me that they had reached out to ya'll and that you would not work with them. I am so sad to hear this. They are a nice couple and have 23 Belgians to whom they give great care. I just thought it would be a good way for any Belgians to have a great home. Please reconsider working with them. Thanks for all you do.
Yes they do I watched that one to cause I'm from around Amarillo,I'm from Borger.
I'm assuming there must be something going on behind the scenes/that they've yet to share for them to have not worked with them, I wouldn't read too much into it unless something is said.
I’m amazed that Tawnee and Jason won’t deal with Julie? Why is this? It must be a mistake. Fletcher Farms is also known as, The big hoof foundation and is incredible.
The only issue I could see is that Julie buys from kill-pens/feed lots, which puts money straight back into the kill-buyers pockets. Kill-buyers go to auctions, buy the Belgian horses cheep, then sell them for double what they paid. When you buy horses from these people, they then use that money to go outbid rescues at auction.
When the kill-pens say the horses are going to ship, they’re not, they’ve often been kept for some time, fed so they look healthier, then they’re going to ship to the next auction in the next state, to be sold for a profit.
Could Tawnee comment if this is true about not working with Julie and why, if it is true?
I’m in no way criticising Julie or Tawnee, I’m just trying to understand.
@jantaylor3788 I'm not sure about the Dora thing, but I do know when Julie first started her youtube page with her rescuing Belgians multiple people including myself suggested to Julie to see if hphs would give her grants to help with rescuing . She got back to us an said that she had tried multiple times to get help from them an they said no .
Maybe it is b/c Dora is still in tough medical shape. Both organizations do a great job. ❤❤
I love seeing you all taking such care with every horse whatever their condition. It’s a privilege to see you making sure they never suffer again.
Wish we could have listened to the Docs comments on several more horses.
Me too!
And they all were doing double duty or more with Kory gone. It's hard when they had more horses in ONE day than they've had at intake and missing one really critical member of the team gone. I'm happy we got to see as much as we did considering the circumstances.
Well, I'm glad whoever owned those 2 stallions at the beginning got them to you instead of going straight to auction, much better outlook for these guys, and I must say the dark maned boy is just stunning I'm sure he'll get swept up in no time!
IMHO They'll both get snapped up quickly once gelded and with some training. They're just the right age to start a career in some riding endeavor. Glad HPHS got them along with all the babies!
FANTASTIC job Jason! And to these enormously compassionate vets...I thank God for you. To all working for HPHS, you are real life heroes!! Bless you all 🙏💗😇
Wow 55 precious lives saved...Amen, thank you Jesus. Thank you All .. great job. Dr. Lydia has a soft approach and voice to these horse's it calms and reassures them ❤
Every time I see a jacked up standardbred, I think they got into an accident pulling an Amish cart.
I was watching my granddaughter in Westfield , NY and an Amish buggy passed by us on our walk . The horse was definitely a beautiful standard bred and could see the ribs and sweat from 50 ft away ! Trotting on pavement on a humid 80 degrees day ! I would have wept , but didn’t want to upset my granddaughter . Western New York could definitely use an amazing horse rescue.
The Amish are brutal to their animals.
@@karenhirschfeld3259Yes, they are. Makes me sick.
@@karenhirschfeld3259 Not all of them are. Free Spirit Equestrian has an absolutely wonderful mare, Beauty, that she bought from an Amish family. Painting any group with a broad brush is unkind to all involved.

Prince Naveen is another fine example of an Amish horse.
Thanks Jason. You did a great job multi tasking today. With all the team working so hard too. Your vets are a godsend, especially on intake day. I love Dr Lydia’s attitude, always there with her bag of cookies. Well done on saving so many horses xx
Just love watching the care you give the animals but I get so upset watching what humans are capable of (I am watching this in tears) that I can’t watch all the time. Having been born and raised in the country ( Australia) as much as I love animals I was also raised to respect animals and not to let them suffer, respect anyone who can handle all the stress of handling all those distressed and injured animals.
25:49 - such a beautiful song, it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for all you do, and for giving us and the horses the hope of seeing the end of the slaughter days. Y'all are so appreciated, and the soldiers fighting it with your feet on the ground, and Tawnee, for bringing awareness and education, fighting it in the big house. 😭❤🩹
The dark bay stallion at the beginning is just gorgeous!
Looks like you got a bunch of semi healthy yearlings 😊 and a few needing the last act of kindness. But a better amount of healthier horses this time.
I agree, I cannot remember whether it was the last buyout or an earlier one, but there were only a few that didn't need the last act of kindness right away.
Awwww, the Dr. Gina song!!! ~
I may be in the minority but I find the music highly distracting. I love this organization and contribute monthly. The vets are great and obviously care very much about the horses. I also look forward to these buyout videos but please, less music.
Or turn down to make it background music, so we can hear the vets talking.
Understandable we will do out best to make better content in the future.

Love the Buyout…the spots on the chestnut look like saddle soars 😢….the Stallions are gorgeous but really need to be gelded….❤and look at all the Babys, save and a good lease on life it’s just sad that they have been bred for nothing…seems nobody wanted them and finally they go to slaughter…Breeders need to be held responsible for their Offspring and keep the numbers down….i am always happy that for some horses the suffering is simply over even if it means the last act of kindness ❤❤
Seeing all of them in pain like that just breaks my heart, but knowing that the’ll get all the care they can- it’s just a relief, knowing that they’ll be ok.
Jason, I have enjoyed you taking the camera today. I really have enjoyed your comments.

I'm not a big fan of the new country music now days but the song about Dr Gena is what country music is about I feel tells the whole story amazing job to the artist
Another overwhelming Intake beginning---good luck everyone.
So very kind of you to help them - the suffering is not fair and it is very difficult for you but we are really really thankful for your work.
Glad you are getting so many horses in the by out and some great horses.
So many babies!!!! So many beautiful horses!!! Those stallions are beautiful for sure. As always, those who have suffered for a long time
G time. Thank you for saving these horses from slaughter❤❤
I hope you can heal as many as possible ❤ and love the rest❤❤❤❤❤
Thank You. Those babies are precious. And those two stallions will calm down immensely when gelded. They were just being boys but not viciously.
That doesn't mean that they wouldn't act even worse if there were mares close to them. Since it takes a while for the testosterone to completely leave their bodies, the calming down period isn't immediate.
Another thing is that there is still sperm left for a little while also so if one of the newly gelded stallions gets with a receptive mare, there could be a surprise baby 11 months later. Of course, HPHS knows that but maybe not all their viewers.
@@alycewich4472 I'm aware of all you said. I just meant they don't seem to be out to actually harm each other.
Oh my goodness, guys, this rescue was incredible. Over 50 horses, that’s amazing. Dr Lydia, Dr Gina and team have definitely got their hands full bless them. I can’t believe your X-ray machine is broken, that’s just awful, god I wish I had the money to pay for another so you always had a backup. I wonder if your nearest large animal veterinary centre would be good enough to let you take horses to them so you could use their X-ray equipment…just until yours is fixed?
My heart broke for the horses and poor donkey who were so so critical. The poor donkey, I just cried, his/her poor leg. I’m so glad that the poor thing came directly to you, so he/she didn’t have to go through a horrendous auction and bought by a kill-buyer. What pain it must be in, I can’t imagine it being hauled across America in that poor state. What a heartbreaking thought. I thank god for you all. I thank god he/she has somewhere like your hands for a soft landing. These critical, beautiful animals needed you so desperately and I’m so grateful you were there for them, to give them the peace their owners should have given them. I wish I could hug you through the trauma that selfish owners have forced you through. You are angels and I appreciate you so much. 🙏🏻🫶🫶🫶
The x-ray machine.... That's how it works. You get some money and you can replace, for example, the cracked bathtub. You think you're doing good. Then, the rear seal starts leaking on the car.
Oh, it looked to me that that baby donkey came off the trailer.
The music totally says it all...thanks guys for all you do, you're the best...!

I'd like to see as much of the intake as possible, so I'd be fine if you didn't cut much out
With a very important member, Kory, being gone, and 55 horses coming in, everyone was having to do double or triple duty. I'm amazed that they did as well with handling the large amount of equines and getting the video footage they did get.
The songs written are so meaningful! Who is the artist? Please give them credit as it makes the videos another notch up!
Dr. Lydia is that it girl, period.
55 saved is amazing 👏
A big shout-out to all of you for what you do. My heart breaks every time a new load comes in. I cannot believe how people have treated these wonderful creatures.
This is the healthiest group of horses at intake I've seen since you started the buyout program!
Thanks for shining a bright spot light on Kill Auctions. Horse overpopulation leads to cruelty and neglect. Just like it does with dog and cat overpopulation. Fortunately, there is no meat market for dogs and cats in this country.
Thank you for your educational episodes ❤️❤️❤️
Don't think horse are over populated at all; if so, why the need and actions to hunt down free-roaming "wild" horses? To tame them? Why? To get the horses off of someone's land, perhaps a billionaires land who wants that land for farming, ie, growing and selling rice to China! Horses are not the issue, really, but we have made them an issue due to our behavior/temper tantrums about so much...
Thank God for HorsePlus and all animal rescues...
FYI: I volunteer at a cat rescue. The conditions of some of the cats is appalling but I pet them and love them and give them eye contact anyway.
Dr Lydia is a God send!
You guys really do have an amazing staff and that is not easy to do.
Love the songs
That poor donkey! I love the music, the song about Dr Gina is so good. Thank you for being angels of mercy for those poor broken equines. Oh the spots on the sorrel are called Birdcatcher spots!
holy moly! so many babies/young horses! where are they all coming from?
I thought you guys were too far south to see Premarin foals, but they have auction tags, so maybe? It seems like too many to just be a coincidence, though. maybe the auctions just put all the foals in a lot?
either way, I'm so incredibly thankful that you guys were there to pull those babies out of the slaughter pipeline and put them on the path to becoming someone's beloved family member!
thank you horse plus!!!
To me they look a little old to be PMU babies, but then I haven't been looking for them specifically.
Probably won't get an answer but ....
What is a premarin horse?
Oh my Gosh, that poor gelding with the bad legs. So stoic. Extremely sad.
It's a saddle sore on that chesnut horse; beautiful grey horse!
I liked the grey, also.
Hopefully doesn't have too many grey equine melanomas. I've always favoured greys.
I have a feeling, which I also find totally ironic, that kill buyers are going to auctions and buying these horses for a couple hundred and then coming to you guys to resell them! They make a little money, do not have to trek half way across the country saving time and gas money.....is it wrong when I had this thought I gave a little evil laugh that you have the auction house and the kill buyers on the ropes? so worth every dime to see the horses saved and have them do the buying for you!!!! I know it is terrible but I love that you are putting everyone in their place while saving horses.....your persistence on finding the loop holes and working your way around things gives me the confidence in your ability to get those laws changed!!!!! way to go guys!!!
Doesn’t that mean they’re directly funding the slaughter pipeline? Now the kill buyers have plenty of money to get horses that’ll actually ship
@@Sweetpeaslovrr no it means they are turning them into rescuers rather than kill buyers
incinerator on site so easy disposal
@@wilsonroo16 If they are purchasing horses from kill buyers they are giving kill buyers money to not only go get horses that can actually ship but to also have money to look for more neglected animals they can neglect for a couple weeks before delivering them the next buy out day. It’s a win win for everyone. Their followers believe they’re saving horses and the traders and kill buyers have a place to send horses they otherwise wouldn’t be able to profit off of
@@Sweetpeaslovrr I don't agree and the facts don't pan out that way.....they may be making a slight profit by selling here but not enough to turn their whole operation around. If you look at the actual shipping costs versus the cost per pound they are better off doing this.
