Exploring the Metrics Behind My First Devlog

- This video is not intended to be boastful. Before I started, I was always looking for this information, so after finally stepping foot in the arena, I thought I'd share everything I've learnt in a hope that it provides useful insight to anyone else considering starting.
I was initially hesitant to make this in case it was perceived the wrong way, but I think it could be useful for some people. I see a lot of people have success with their devlog, but I don't often see people talk about how it happened.
I hope you enjoy. - Věda a technologie
Congrats on your initial success 👏Hope it continues!
Thanks bud, stoked to see you’re still going too! (And to see you still around here!)
Great insights. Going to help me out no end.
Great, I’m glad to hear that!
Fascinating insights! It's always a joy to see how new games are received.
How do your newer videos compare with retention, CTR, etc?
Great to see you still following along! Overall, my retention is going up (gradually) but I feel that’s just because I’m getting a (slightly) better sense of how to edit videos. I do think I sabotaged my first video with the music.
I’ve also been making the videos a little shorter but % wise, retention is a lot higher with my later videos (this video is around 43% for example) but CTR is lower with non devlog content (which I kind of expect).
I enjoy making these “side” videos but devlogs are definitely my best performing. We’ll see with the next one! But yeah the stats are super fun to go through. I’m a bit of a nerd for this stuff.
Always fun to nerd over analytics number XD
Thanks for sharing !
It sure is 😅, and welcome!
I’m subscribed!
Glad to have you along!
Interesting
this video was very valueble for me, thanks! i will definitly redo some of my thumbnails :)
Really glad to hear it’s provided value! I appreciate the comment, best of luck with your content!
Wow i wish this could happen to my channel, but great vid.❤
Keep going! Just keep learning as you go and look at how others in your niche are achieving their success.
Though my channel is relatively new, I’ve been studying this stuff for a while.
@wheezyworks thanks for your support, your a great person. I'll keep going. Have a nice day😁💯❤️
I think it doesn't count your comments, it would be a weird eay to boost your own metrics first of all, and also at the moment I started to watch this video it said 3 comments but i saw 3 comments and your reply...
Ah, good to know! Thank you
the second mistake: you didn't have minecraft in the title
I don’t want this game to have any reference to Minecraft. I know there’s a common association given it’s such a popular voxel game, but this is early in development so it still looks very blocky and the textures are simple. The end product will hopefully look completely different
your second devlogs musics use is better but its volume is even more obnoxious, so its good that you learned from your mistake but would be better if you applied the knowledge
I really feel that it’s the one section that needed balancing as opposed to the whole video, but I think that overshadows the rest of it. That said, its a hard balance. In one way I want to add a certain level of energy and entertainment, but it’s a very fine line before it’s overdone. Trying to improve but I’m still fairly new to this. Will try and do better!
