I swear I remember owning this, hopefully not a false memory. I either read it or owned it. I was in freshman year of high school and talked about it with a friend in French Class. I had Samhain's initium for some reason in my book bag with a walkman. I talked to the friend about black metal, and how crazy this story sounded. He said, well that band "Samhain" played "blood metal" since it's that famous pic of them in blood. That's all I really remember other being shocked af from the article. I didn't care to hear anything from that genre until 4 years later when I got into it full force, well at least a. lot of it. It later became one of my favorite subgenres of metal.

Thank you for sharing this with us! The magazine is rare and very expensive to get a gently used copy. Might I also suggest Kerrang 494? It has a two page article and a review that are similar to this issue and it's much easier to find and less expensive.

If I come across it, I'll sure upload it. This was the article that brought NBM to the world for the first time, a little fortune well spent (or wasted?). :)

You might also look for Ultrakill Magazine issue 1. I haven't been able to find a copy for myself yet, but it's another rare magazine with an article similar to the Kerrang articles. I've seen some excerpts of the magazine online.

Danzig looked jacked back in the day. I'm kind of surprised that there haven't been more front men like that. You had Danzig, Rollins, and maybe Zakk, but his drinking and what not ruined any physique work he did.

Scream Magazine was my go-to, great norwegian magazine that are still running.

Back when Kerrang dealt with denim, leather and drunken Metalheads/Rockers, instead of razor blades, tissues and emotional wrecks with wank haircuts

it was transitioning to that though, with altenative metal giving way to "nu" metal and grunge and alternative becoming more of a thing as issues went on.
