Criminally underrated channel. I hope you and your work gets more recognition in the CZcams community, Knut. They have been very informative for me as a student studying composition.

The algorithm randomly brought me here and boy am I glad it did! One of your other comments said "criminally underrated" - I quite agree.

I hear ya, but must say as someone having sung all of these arrangements (some of them both as sop and alto) that each one is still a delight and great fun to sing!

Hahah, yes; I originally used the background music for a throwaway joke in my episode on musicianship (czcams.com/video/0P8-zawvg70/video.html). In the episode I advised people not to rely too much on using the same licks over and over, with this in the background, though I ended up liking the resulting track, so now I use it loads for my newer episodes and commit the same sin myself 😅

Having looked back on my old arrangements I can confirm I've found all of these mistakes somewhere! My arrangement of Mr Blue Sky just didn't relent from the top E's and F's in the 1st soprano part. Excellent video as always Knut.

Hahah, yes, it's easy to do these things when starting out, but if we can go back and spot arrangement decisions that we'd navigate differently now, it's a good sign that we've become better at our craft! Thanks for your comment and I'm happy that my video was helpful for you! 🙂

4:33 What? Too low? No problems for me there. I don't see any problems with the arrangements myself.

Hey! 🙂 As long as you know for certain that your bass section will consist of true basses that can sing comfortably and with good projection down to the lowest notes, then yes, it would be fine (though it's not ideal to have the other parts in their high range at the same time). However, in my experience, most choirs tend to consist of mid-range singers who sing low or high depending on need, and this certainly was the case for these arrangements. I recommend that the bulk of low notes for the basses stay at or above low G for this reason, as it's much better to have the whole section able to project the notes rather than have some of them drop out because the part goes under their range. It's of course best to know the voices that you arrange for and adjust the parts according to their individual voices, but I'm trying to give general advice that should work for most choirs here 😉
