    • @ShellyMiddleton
      @ShellyMiddleton Před 6 lety

      We didn't have a wet/dry shop vac when we got a lot of water on our floor, but we got the water up fast by pushing it using the flat blade side of a rubber broom into a dustpan (flip the dustpan up before the water has a chance to rush back out) and quickly dumping it into a bucket. It was all up in about 5 to 10 minutes.

  • @none-ya-dam821
    @none-ya-dam821 Před 6 lety +777

    The water is coming in at the Foundation underneath the first row of concrete blocks. It wasn't sealed probably. Pull everything away from the foundation and even dig down a little bit, clean all the dirt off and use a gallon of Flex Seal. Put it on heavy with a small roller under the decorative rock at the foundation line. Then install a French Drain to stop flooding.

    • @mitchelll899
      @mitchelll899 Před 6 lety +20

      Paul None Ya that's far less than needed. Dig 3ftX3ft trench around the entire area outside fill with gravel and you now made a flood plain water barrier. It's what we do in Ohio for the areas that flood like no tomorrow up to 4ft deep and then you latex paint the floors and walls that aren't carpet or tile. We had to do it living in a valley area but it never flooded the basement again even with 40 inches of rain in one night.

      kyle n you don't put it on the nice rock dumbass. It needs to be sealed. If water can get in so can bugs.

    • @mitchelll899
      @mitchelll899 Před 6 lety

      Paul None Ya flex seal is just silicone. Bugs and other animals chew on the stuff and if you use the wrong kind that isn't koi pond safe you'll kill animals under your home and having worse thing's like maggots coming through the cracks. If you ever tried using silicone on a fish tank you know that stuff takes 48-120hrs to cure and dry. It also must be applied to a clean dry surface. Your foundation 3-5ft below ground is a sponge for water as it's just cement that isn't coated in anyway. Also if the foundation is off balance it will require a jack and new foundation poured below it to keep it level with the rest of the house or your foundation can snap and bring the entire house down.

After tonight I can officially say that I have watched every single Off The Ranch video ever.... the best part is I enjoyed every second of it. Part of me is upset I can’t binge watch episodes I haven’t seen before but the other part is extremely happy I have seen all of this content. You and your family are an inspiration. Just an FYI for if you do actually get the Humvee stuck (very improbable considering I've seen what these things can handle in the deserts of Afghanistan) but the rear tires have this weird looking loop coming off the center of the rim. That's for self-recovery, you can loop your rope or whatever you have on you through the loop, tie it to a tree or something and reverse your way out. Just a heads up. Keep up the great videos! We all enjoy watching them out here!

    Hey matt, as a builder I would suggest that you should put a soak away outside your laundry room.
    I'd move the gravel and dig a 5ft deep by 1ft wide hole and put some polyurethane tubing (almost the same size as the hole) in the hole and back fill and put a piece of wire mesh on top the re-cover with gravel. That should solve your flooding issue.
    This should take you around 3 hours if digging by hand but if you have access to a fence post hole maker it should take 1.5 hours.

      he should have called a professional, the water came in through an exterior all and probably wicked up the insulation, which will not dry fast enough with a regular old fan to mitigate microbial growth.

    As someone who deals with a foundation that leaks alot when it rains heavy, I can safely say, if that leak in your laundry room happens often, go get a wet vac. It'll make that clean up job so much easier than trying to mop it up with a buncha towels and drying with a fan.

    Wet dry vacum is better than towels for your laundry room floor. A Jeep defroster (squeegie) for the Humvee windshield. STAY ON HARDPACK when pulling someone from mud, if at all possible.
