Especially when you see how kickass and strong of a character the same actress plays in the drama Nothing But Thirty! It's the same with the original Empress' actress in The Family (she's adorable), it barely seems like the same person.

I feel so bad for Lianxin. 😢 She trusted the Empress and thought that she would protect her and see her a more than a maid only for her to sell her out to someone who abused her. I wish Lianxin became Ruyi’s maid after this because then she would have been treated better and could have asked for even though at the time not as powerful, but asked Ruyi to have her family watch over her siblings so she didn’t have to worry about their lives being used to make her do something she didn’t want to do and if she did Ruyi would have said yes to that request cause you see how she treats her own servants as human beings and family to her
Unfortunately she stayed with her but learned of the truth through a conversation between the empress and noble lady jia. Lianxin felt betrayed and used the second prince to get back at the empress

And in this series he succesfully portrayed a super annoyingly egoistic, and cruel character that i hate so much (i guess i'm not wrong thinking that was intentional, and that was demanded by the script, at least for the later part of the story). But, at 12:46 rather than disgust and anger towards his subject, in my mind the expression looked more of a perverted old man 😂😂😂
