- Beginning the Mvskoke language is a good starting point for people looking to learn the language of the Muscogee Creek and Seminole people.
College professor, Nelson Harjo Sr, presents this lesson from the Bumpy Brick Sports Bar in Seminole, OK.
My grandmother, Lucy Condren, only spoke Muskogee until she was 5 yrs old.
Mvto. I am Poarch Creek, Northern Band of Florida. I live in Bellevue, Nebraska, south of the Omaha tribe. Thank you, glad to be welcomed to the fire. I’ll try, I’ve been wanting to learn as best as I can. 🤲🏽
Turtle Clan.

My husband’s grandmother fought hard along side the elders for the language to be taught and kept alive! 💖 This is wonderful! I really want to teach my daughters their heritage 💖
So good, thank you!! I go to Haskell Indian Nations University and I’m about to start creating videos about Afro-Indigenous life and universal consciousness. I appreciate this video & just ordered a mvskoke dictionary ❤❤
AS for my personal views, its more than a a blessing,
One that dates back to 1888
My father's grandmother,
Loved her so much, unsure there reasons no to pass on this knowledge, Creek and Seminole. I find so many
Family's who language not pass on . As I listen, my thoughts so Grateful ,
Someone listened to there hearts to do this
So many deep thought
Share yet a need to pass on to people even years to come
That feeling a need ,
Thanks you for, for giving thought and savings this knowledge
I hope to see more videos of your teachings 🙏 I know a little bit of Yuchi language from my dad , he is full blood Creek. His mom spoke fluently until she passed.I would love to see more of your videos of your teachings. I hope to learn so that I may pass it on to my children and there children as well ❤ * Mvto Koeetah*
My dad & uncle's know some words, my grandpa Joe Smith could speak it fluently but unfortunately when he passed away so did the language.. I'm trying to learn my native language so I can pass it to my son's, they as myself owe it to ourselves & our heritage!!
Hi. I also want to thank you. I just found this today. I am not Native, but I have 2 very good friends who are Creek. I am learning because not only do I legitimately love learning, but I want to surprise them! I have already saved this and plan on playing it back until I master it as best I can!
Mvto, it sure helping me remember and refreshing our language to me again. I learned the old language, as my grandpa Newman told me the Old Semvnolē language the long words.
And I sure miss hearing him speak to all his brothers and sister in our language. Growing up listening to them speak it every time they got together I could figure out what they said and I always loved when they change there expression and have the loong ending to the word. Lol
I understand the old language I do have hard time understanding the shorter words idk why. I guess use to hearing old language lol
My father used to speak mvskoke to me when i was young im one of a handful of creek in iowa thank you so much
Thank you for this my great-grandfather chief Dody McIntosh told me if you lose your language you lose your culture
When was Doty McIntosh chief? Purely for genealogy reason. With all respect. Mvto...Jeannette

are there any like terms of endearment or ways to say you love someone??
I was on the roles of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation until they change the requirement of the blood inheritance. Our family did own plot 20 and 21.
Don't let that keep you from knowing who you are. In other words. You still are Creek..
If you were on brother and on the Dawes role how did they take you off? Didn't think it possible.
Weird idk know they even accepted freedmen on their... From a legal stand point if y'all lived on the land squatter tigjts i would jave claimed
Languages have their own alphabets. Greek alphabet letters are different from English alphabet letters, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic, all have their own letters. What do Mvskoke letters look like? Are they similar to Aztec?
Vietnamese uses a modified Latin alphabet although I believe before colonialism they wrote it in Chinese
Thank you

I've had a tough time searching for a reliable Creek-English dictionary.

Just FYI mvskoke r should be the voiceless lateral fricative, a sound which does not exist in English. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voiceless_dental_and_alveolar_lateral_fricatives
Where can you get an Creek dictionary and CD. So you can learn.
Amazon may be a good start. Tribal complexes have them too.
Amazon is the easiest place, try Beginning Creek by Pamela Innes
PvceLane cracked me up.......He said parrot, I believe that actually says "Yellow Dove"

I love this video and have watched it countless times. Is there more materials or a way to purchase the video he speaks of?

Question: why is the Creek writing similar to Carthoginian writing?
it isn't - and they are not Black
Creek writing is based on the Latin alphabet which was derived from the Phoenician alphabet. Carthage was founded by the Phoenicians but conquered by Rome. Some of the sound values were changed due to phonetics being different from English. Mvskoke is a beautiful language & is not related to the Carthaginian language as you stated in another post. Btw, it may help you appear more scholarly if you learned to spell "Carthaginian".
