- Mvskoke Hymn singing at Wewoka Indian Baptist Church in Wewoka, Oklahoma on March 19, 2014. This was recorded during our spring revival. Rev. Mitchell Taylor was the guest speaker for the week. Our Pastor is Rev. Curtis Kinney.
Brings tears of missing my grandparents, watching them as they sit, for what seemed like hours, just singing...❤️
Same I get sad because I remember my relatives and my grandparents singing this at my aunts funeral and she was only 26 💙
Thank you Curtis Kinney for speaking at my grandmother's burial service in Seminole last year. She would have been happy to see her family there and you speaking to us all.
I grew up on these songs but when my great grandmother died and then my uncle after her and just recently my grandpa a year ago, I stopped going to church and stopped the songs. Now I hear them and I can't stop crying
I understand the loss of so many. Standing alone.
It is this lonesome that brought me closer to the Father.
life is birth and loss.
Quinten Wahweah me too god blessed our elders family members who passed on too the happy hunting grounds mudol!
You should take honor in their names, and what they have taught you please share your ancestors wisdom we need it more than ever.
I love you Grandma. Always.
I'm home with this music.
I wanted to die a few times to be reborn but I know it is not that simple.... this is the first time I heard these hymns, they bring a comfort to my heart
Preached a revival here in Nov of 2019
What a blessing it was to preach at such a Spirit filled revival
Keep praising the Lord ! B

NEW MUSIC & NEW ARTIST
Mvto! for the songs, I don't get to hear my tribal hymns unless I go home across the river. So spirit-filled I miss hearing my daddy sing but still blessed to hear my momma.
These hymns also remind me of going to church at Okmulgee Indian Baptist church with my grandma, great aunt and uncle and my cousins. I listen to these hymns every now and then to remind me of my heritage and where I came from.
Makes me tear for family passing away
some of these songs I haven't heard scince I was a little girl in efulfua Oklahoma when great uncles and my great aunts & My Grama bring tears to My eyes

Earthly Patriot I have a lot of family still there :( it's a shame I've grown so far from home. Are you still in Oklahoma?

Earthly Patriot mine as well. I've been to many many places yet when I think of my happiest of moments, this little town in oklahoma holds them all. I hope you find your way :)
meat moose Funny you said that at the end...thank you and Much Love
Earthly Patriot why funny?
I'm just a lonely Christian man, lonely and looking for a church. My parents were from Hillabee.
Reminds me of being in church with my grandma. We had the church on my grandparents property which is now called the Randall Indian Baptist Church.
Alot of comments are of ones who left behind the language . And returning hearing the old words brings on many emotions. Keep speaking creek
How could we let the language die out and not honor our ancestors
reminds me of when I used to go to Creek Chapel Methodist Church in Okemah
Miss that place. Haven't been there for awhile.
When I was young, my grandma would make us stand in front of everyone at this church and sing hymns every Sunday. I sure had fun here.
Great granddaughter of Susie Deer-Ware. She was amazing. Hearing her often call her sis, speaking Creek. Or in our church here
This is beautiful. I can't wait until the day I learn of our language to teach it to my daughter. I regret living from my heritage.
Awesome video brother! Reminds me of the good times with my grandparents Bunny and Louella Porter at Cedar Creek Eufaula or visiting High Springs as a kid

The hymns sounds so beautiful! I came here to find out how the language is spoken. My father never got to know my grandfather. I found out my grandfather was full Mvskoke and was from the Cheek family. I feel saddened that I wasn't able to find my grandfather before he died. I would love to know more about their (and my) culture.

I appreciate this recording very much. I am trying to understand everything I can about Mvskoke music. Does anyone have a recording of work songs they would share on CZcams? Perhaps a corn-pounding song?
Mvn yvhiketv taket Mvskoke Opunvkv ofvn yvhikhoyet os. Those songs are sung in the Mvskoke Language is what I tried to say.
