    Just wanted to say thank you. Your video worked. I took it step by step, and it works perfect! Probably saved a few hundred and labor. Thanks again for making it easy 😁👍

    Shouldn't need to pound the alternator into place. There's 2 bushings that slide in and out in the mounting holes. Free them up. Then the alternator drops in without persuasion

    Just did this on my 2015 Yukon XL SLT 4x4 with the 5.3. Took me like an hour and a half. I wasn't moving fast and the longest task was hammering the new alternator back in the required location. That took me like 30 minutes. Thanks for the video.

    I’m about to do mine in my 2015 suburban. I watched another video that shows an easier way to get the alternator in place is by using a nut and bolt in the holes for the alternator bolts . U take the nut and bolt and put it in the hole and tighten it up to where the lil rubber bushing pushes itself closer to the hole and out the way of the alternator to be put back in place. Then remove the nut and bolt before putting the alternator in place. Kinda how u do brakes. M not sure if I’m doin it that way or just tap with a mallet. I will update when I’m done to let u know which way works better.

      So I did do it step by step but I didn’t take the serpentine belt all the way off! I just put it around the throttle body intake . The whole process only took 45 min tops if that maybe 30 mins. I just kept working all the way till it was complete. I used the mallet. It gave me a little fight but I got it. Thanks to this video I know I saved a few hundred.

    You just saved me about 800 bucks thank you. Question though how did you notice the alternator was out? Yesterday we leaving my Tahoe on I noticed it kind of struggled to turn on battery level was kinda low. When I tried to turn it on this morning, it wouldn’t start anymore.

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  Před 3 měsíci +1

      The voltage should be 13.5-14.5V while running. If it shows lower (and you see lights flicker, loss of power, etc) it is also a good sign it’s failing. Mine was actually okay, but removal was part of the lifters repair:

      @@dannyjohnsonsgarage got it. I’m still trying to figure it out. When I started it it just bad some ticking noises, I jumped it with my other truck and then when to open the tail gate abd it wouldn’t open. I just turned it off and left in my truck. Do you think it’s the battery or the alternator?

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@jrchavez6167 it could be the battery itself. If you jump start it and it runs properly and shows 13.5V-14.5V it can run fine off the alternator if the alternator is good. Yukon battery replacement 2015-2020 GMC CHEVY Tahoe, Escalade Sierra, Silverado, suburban

    Question if I swap a escaldes alternator since a 6.2 will it work and fit on a 5.3 2010 avalanche?

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  Před 14 dny

      I see replacements showing they work on all, so as long as the housing and plug is the same it should work. No guarantees though

    Did u have any Power Glitches while hitting Bumps on Road with Bad Alternator & low Voltage..?

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  Před 9 měsíci

      I don’t. It should be 13.5V-14.5V when operating properly. If it’s only when hitting bolts, check the power connections (with the battery disconnected) and also any grounds for the vehicle

    My knowledge of cars is super low. I went out of the country for three months and I didn’t disconnect my Tahoe battery. I thought a jump would get it started again but it won’t hold a charge and it stalled out on me with sudden random code’s popping up and then steering wheel lock. Is this a sign of a bad alternator or a more serious problem?

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  Před 10 měsíci

      I would try charging the battery fully with a charger for 12-24 hours (or replacing it) and see if the problem is battery only. I have a video for changing it too. Make sure the black cable is taken off before the red, then on install the red goes on first, then the black cable czcams.com/video/QIvi453fstI/video.htmlsi=l7nexCR9dWNw-ge-
