I'm using 3D Coat for many years now! I really like it! it's a perfect tool for any artist!
Totally agree with you, I am surprised nobody talks much about 3D Coat, I have over a year using it by now and the Blender addon work perfectly, you already mentioned it and is important to highlight the 3D Coat is the king of UV and Retopology, but also you forgot to mention another task 3D Coat excels that is TEXTURE PAINTING, for any artist who looks for stylized hand painted materials creation 3D Coat is probably the BEST option in the market, works with layers and is very similar on how you would work in Substance Painter and at same level of performance, then a good pipeline is to create the models in 3d Coat using his great capabilities of UV and Retopo and then send it to Blender or UE5 for animation, is important to mention how 3D Coat picked Blender instead of Maya both addons are for FREE software trying to avoid more spendure for artists, 3D Coat is one of those software that really don't need any addons, as is already offers a lot of value and if you see the price is accessible in comparison with ZBrush and offers more options being a real multitask software that only uses and additional software for animation but all the model creation can be done in 3D Coat and the performances is outstanding, I will say match ZBrush from all perspectives in terms of sculpting but in terms of environmental design and architectural models 3D Coat totally surpasses ZBrush and has all the features of ZBrush plus others ZBrush doesn't have and more importantly the UI and NAV system are superior against the AWFUL and more IDIOTIC UI and Nav system in the market of ZBrush, man I uses Zbrush since date release and the damn incompetent developers can after 2 decades give us a descent UI what is disappointing more if you see that ZBrush cost the triple of what you pay for 3D Coat
thank you lol
I watched the whole video hoping he'd touch on texture painting
I understand why they don't talk about 3DC, if you haven't used ZBrush it is very difficult for you to understand 3DC, in my case I have only used Blender and only modeling, doing this in 3DC seems easier but the tools are not the same, learning 3DC is so complex how to learn Blender, I bought the license convinced of what was shown in the videos but if you see its official page the learning is very strange, they are a series of tutorials from different parts and times that so that you can put it into practice at least In my case it is a real nightmare, I am constantly asking questions in the forum but the explanations, in addition to being late, always leave doubts.
I use it for texturing since a decade now, to me it's the most artist friendly software available out there and has a lot, a HELL lot of tools to help you enjoying your work ♥
Its very sad more people dont know about 3D coat. Its quite amazing! The hard surface modeling/sculpting is even better than Zbrush OR Blender!
I would really love their bool tools in blender. Damn fun to work with.
Totally agree, I use both I drop Maya for Blender and now I make the models in 3D Coat and send them to Blender for animation, I am amaze how they made complex things easy for us
thankyouuu
Hi, may i know does 3D Coat contains Textura functions? I am a little confuse, i assume if i just want to uv, paint, render, i just need to get Textura. But if i want to sculpt/modeling at the same time, i will go for 3D Coat? In other word, Textura is a features from 3D Coat that is specially made for those who only want uv, paint functions
yes
I have it and not using much of it because of the bugs and non intuitive UI, i use it mostly for destruction sculpting and painting.
i bought the full version yesterday for cheaper after trying it for a month. i prefere this over zbrush anytime tbh. so now i use blender and 3d coat.
For me, it's pretty much all 3 softwares that I need(Blender for animation, ZBrush for modelling, and 3DCoat for texturing/UVing, though I wouldn't mind giving Substance Painter a try).
I constantly try to Stan for this software. Once it fixes its bugs it will surpass zbrush. Currently they are adding multi res for sculpting where it lacks some feature parity it’s a good step forward. Being able to concept refine and paint an object with little to no polygon or topological restraints is one of its biggest strengths. I would like to see more tools like edge creasing in the modeling room as well as some brushes ported over from zbrush and this program will have my heart. For now I’m still using blender as a be all do all.
Since Zbrush sold out to Maxon, and now wants a Kidney to update the program with lets face it, laughable updates, 3Dcoat is in a PRIME spot to rise up and take market control in the indie and hobbiest markets alone. I know pros who refuse to buy the ZB update. Thats how much they screwed up lol
@@Glitch-Gremlin this is true but before anyone takes up 3D coat they need to flesh out their multires implementation. That’s at a minimum! It’s a ton of features that zbrush has that coat doesn’t.
- I would like to see more tools like edge creasing in the modeling room as well as some brushes ported over from zbrush.
Can you give a little more detail about edge creasing in the modeling room? I am a modeling room developer.
What brushes do you need from ZBrush?
@@Dom3d hey man! Glad to hear from you! Yea in zbrush when working with subdivision (in 3D coat live smooth) you have the option to add creasing to the edges instead of having to add supporting edges which makes managing the low poly a lot simpler since you don’t have to remove any edges once you’ve done any sculpting work on the high poly. As for brushes the main one I would like to see in both the modeling and sculpting rooms is the Move Infinite Depth brush. It casts a trace through the geometry and move all the verts under the brush even those in the back of the geometry. So working in orthographic view you can make edits to more than just the front side of the mesh. There’s also things like poly group selections which is clutch in zbrush. If I have a 2 sided mesh let’s say a shirt I extracted from a mask. In zbrush the inside faces are a selectable poly group that I can hide and delete super easy. In 3D coat the same extracted shirt would require me selecting polygons one by one or with brush and deleting them. It’s small quality of life features that make it hard to commit to 3D coat. That and multires not being similar to other programs. I really like the software and steadily waiting for it to improve further so I can love it.
This is a next level ad... yeah, the alternative to a open source software is a pay software, sure
And that's suppose to be bad why?
Raises fist, im unsubscribing from this channel because of this exact reason.
@@MrERJ1992 Because is a tutorials channel or I though it was because I watched one video, I liked it and sub... but today I watched this video and looking at the other videos in the channel and this is NOT a tutorials channel, is a CLICKBAIT channel
@@amoeba23 I did it too
What do you think how CZcamsrs are making money for their living? 3D-Coat really is fantastic piece of software so no harm done.
for some reason it doesn't seem support pen tablets i have tried veikk and huion tablet they did not work
I have huion kanvas pro 16 and it works very well in 3dcoat
@@mjonathancg1794 pen tablets not display ones
You can check in 3dcoat forum by solutions, because they support huion, independently if it is pen or diaplay , I'm not sure about veikk.
@@mjonathancg1794 thanks i will try it
I have a intiq and a XP-Pen and works perfect with them 🧐
another software no one ever mentions is Modo. Both 3dcoat and Modo are under represented. Clarisse too, but not so much as 3d modeling program. Its kinda wierd. Blender is all ive heard about over the last couple years.
It's because blender is free. Very easy to just jump in and give it a go with no risk involved. And because if this there are a ton of tutorials. And the more people talk a out blender the more popular it'll become. Just a big cycle really that'll make it hard for other software's to break into the market
Clarisse is now dead and Modo had its peak when everyone talked about it around 5 or 6 years ago. Modo is all but dead now too.
I use 3D Coat along Houdini, the best combo IMHO, ZBrush is a no-go for me since Maxon took over, 3D Coat is a lot cheaper, and I prefer it for texturing compared to Substance Painter, Painter actually kinda sucks at painting! 😋
An alternative to Sculpting & Painting in ZBrush , fairer comparison of rental programs
...Probably because substance painter on steam is 150 bucks(100 on sale), vs this ON DISCOUNT ATM, is 279+ Euros (268.8 Dollars at time of commenting) while both can do the same, it's just split between the programs.
3DCoat can do a lot more than Substance painter. You can do the entire 3D pipeline on 3DCoat apart from Animation & FX. Just build your asset there & import them to Blender for rigging & animation.
Also Cycle is great for rendering as well.
And if you want something more serious in FX & Procedural generation then add Houdini & you will have entire 3D pipeline covered.
3DCoat-Textura is the Painting tools in 3DCoat and would be a more direct competitor to Substance Painter, and it's cheaper than SP
great feature but their UI could be better!!!
If you wanted to go that far and learn a real sculpting software, might as well go ZBrush and do it right. The investment in time for both is heinous. 3D Coat does more, but I have no need for the other things, cause I have software I like that can do what they added to it...
Some in the comments section, here, have an issue with a sponsored video, but with such a good Applink connection/Blender Addon...one that comes with each build of Blender, natively...why would it be an issue for this author to give a good summary of its capabilities, for the benefit of Blender Artists who might be interested?
I mean, what about PAID Blender Addon's? If it is something I know I am not interested in, then I just watch something else, right? Maybe it's time for me to look for Material Libraries for Cycles and EEVEE, and I run across a video on this channel that discusses one...and upfront, he states that it is sponsored. That doesn't bother me one bit. Why should it bother anyone else, here?
More than 1500 paid add-ons on the Blender Market alone, Blender is not a functional tool, and it can't handle large scenes, why on Earth would a professional artist use a tool that limits his/her creativity and growth? 🤔🤷
It's a tragedy that 3D Coat has mostly a cult -following. The 3D Coat stage of my workflow is easily that part I look forward to most!
because, time is gonna pass anyway ,believe it or not , one day you will notice my work, because, i am working hard
hello gordon , i am very inspire by you can you use any my blender render in your video ,its a pleasure for me ,tell me?
Too bad this channel doesn't ever do anything with 3DCoat
There’s just too many problems to learn at this point. I don’t see the point unless it’s better that Zbrush.
Actually, that is one of the biggest benefits of 3DCoat....instead of having to learn how to use multiple complex applications, you just learn one to perform Sculpting, Modeling, UV, Retopo and Texture Painting all at a very high level.
Guys, if you just managed to lift your head and see this program, it's not because nobody was using it. By the time it becomes popular, the artists using it will have moved on to something new (kodon/modeler wink?)...
What??
Is this free or do you have to pay?
Did you bother to watch the video?? 0:36
I missed that part because I am working.
You don't have to get a fucking attitude
@@spittingame4241 I don't have attitude. You just interpreted my comment like that. Simmer down lol.
There is a free app (3DCoat Print) that is largely the Sculpting/Modeling environment of 3DCoat, and there is a lower cost version (3DCoat-Textura) for the Texture Painting tools/environment...but no, the main 3DCoat application is not free. Pilgway doesn't get BIG Sponsorship $$$s from mega corporations. They have to feed their families the old fashioned way.
I tried it now, im quite experienced in Zbrush and even i gave fair shot to Blender sculpting, 3dcoat looks great on paper and this video, it was horrible experience.I rather pay for Blender if i had to, their pricing is redicoulous for this software. Sculpting is so messy (actually wors than Blender) on every level, FOV is fu...ed, Ui horrible, performance - mediocre, brushes are some innacurate joke (when you wan to dig-they dont dig, when you want to not dig they dig and this kinda stuff). If this software was free i would seriously need to force myself to combine it with Blender workflow to try, but pay this money for this?? pff
Ukrainian company I always mentione this software but no body want to find the alternative !!!!
No one talks about 3dcoat anymore cause overpriced. It started quite fair but now the same greedy shit like others.
3DCoat has 39% of the Zbrush price for individual users and has voxel sculpting, texturing, retopo and UV tools, and is available in more than 50 languages. I think it is not overpriced at all.
@@stanislavchernyshuk6559 your right vs zbrush which is far to expansive. Compared to blender as alternative where this vid points to 3dcoat is overpriced. I was a fan of 3dcoat at beginning but the price license politics turns into the wrong direction and this is sad. there was a steam version around 100 bucks for years. If sculpting counts the rating is still zbrush -> 3dcoat -> blender. But blender is not far away. If i decide invest money i would go to donate blender every time insteat into a comercial product.blenders philosophy is worlds future.
the removal of 3D Coat on steam was huge. I got some of substance 3D 2022 for $99 a pop a while back when on sale.
@@tomoprime217 ...Steam was a terrible business model for Pilgway, as Steam took about half of the license proceeds. If it were more friendly to the Software vendors, then it would still be available on there. Furthermore, a license of 3DCoat can be installed on up to 3 machines (but used only on one at any given time), so the need for a Steam license for portability reasons is not really a factor.
@@dnashj33 Pilgway can renegotiate with steam anytime to reach more customers.
their marketing is bad. their.tutorials way too bloated/long. many workflows are bad and stay untouched.
