West Coast 5: Santa Cruz to Napa

- We woke up in Monterey and continued our trip north along the California coast. First stop was Santa Cruz where we watched a boogie board competition. Then Jaime was able to find some famous Redwoods that were on our way....Love those trees!!
San Francisco does actually look like the scene from Full House and the Golden Gate would probably give a pretty view...if you can drive over it without being in the sea fog. :)
I'm pretty sure we found Jaime's favorite place on the trip...Napa!!

He gave us an explanation last vid. ATC is understaffed, where they work has them working 6 day weeks for the foreseeable future. 771BC was sold months ago, he will post as he can to catch up to the final vids they made (everything we've seen this year is still from last year before the sale), then they'll decide what to do with the channel.

I saw a post on POA he said he would only be able to fly 1 day or 2 days a month didn't justify the cost of ownership.

Just one minute into the video and I see you're watching the 'Dogs vs. the Hogs. I've been in suburban Chicago for over 30 years now but I grew up in northwest Arkansas. Go Hogs! 😉😜 Love the video! I lived in the San Francisco bay area for 3 years. It is incredibly beautiful country there. Thank you for sharing your adventure there.

It is really good to see you back again! I have missed you. it is fun to watch you come in to land in the Sugar Grove Illinois area. When I first got out of the Army, we bought a house on the west side of Aurora and my job was in Geneva. I used to go west ro Route 47 and then swing north on Route 47. I started out going north on Randall Road, but construction and traffic quickly made that undesirable and Route 47 was the way to go. We had good friends just south of Elburn out in the woods, which meant we were always passing through the Galina and Route 47 area. Sooo, it is like old home week seeing you land at the Aurora Airport in Sugar Grove. Jamie is an acrobat. On the beach in the Bahamas, she leaned over backwards, put her hands on the sand behind her, kicked her feet up in the air, and completed a reverse summersault. Not many people can do that!!! Then in this video, she does a hand stand and then walks a few steps upside down on her hands, Not many people can do that either!! You two are great people that I really enjoy, especially now after my wife passed away in 2014. Please know that I have missed both of you and look forward to hearing from you as time rolls forward!!
I appreciated watching this team fly their aircraft (which was apparently sold) in past years, and foremost their display of competence. But I liked this vid despite no flying as such, because I haven't visited CA wine country in about 20 years. Great travelogue.

Welcome to my world, guys! I'm in a little town a few miles just north of Half Moon Bay, very quiet and peaceful. So glad you enjoyed your trip to our state. The way you got here is THE ONLY WAY! Flying your own plane and not having to fly commercial makes for a great vacation.
I lived in Santa Cruz, Sonoma and still live in Napa. I was hopping to see more of Santa Cruz, Sonoma. Nice video. Thanks

Fun video. Looks like you all had a great time. On your next trip to California, skip Napa and Sonoma and instead head to Paso Robles. Unbelievable wineries, a cute downtown, and an easy to get to airport.

I know they were nice but never been inside. The room you stayed is incredible. I thinks it awesome that you stopped in Monterey. I’ve had drinks on that very rooftop. I’m finishing a graduate degree at the Naval Post Graduate School about one block from there. But most of the time I’m home in the western suburbs of Chicago, flying my Warrior out of 3CK.

After growing up in Rosemont I have learned that there are a lot of places that are far more peaceful than the greater Chicago area.
in the flight sim, I have taken a BEAVER into half moon bay.... don't know if it's APPROVED :) but, if you need sompin to do in a sim, that's an awesome ''virtual trip'' :)
I work 7 minutes from the Meritage. I have not been there. The room looked great. They are a little South of the fun, but they offer a great resort.

Were you surprized how cold the coast of CA gets in the summer? And how fast the temperature changes. You can be at 50F on the coast in a strong wind, freezing, then less than an hour later you are in Orinda and it's over 100F. I hope you visited V.Sattui, they are the best. Napa airport was the first place I heard of the FAA preventing housing development near the runways on the grounds that the new residents would complain about the noise and try to get them shut down.
