Watch this video with Bob singing and then go back to watch "stuck inside of Mobile with the Memphis blues again" and look at the difference how he's aged. Make you realize time is flying by, I feel very old right now.
this isn't the grateful dead. this is a pathetic cash grab for those who missed the real thing, fish fans, and those who just want nostalgia of being wasted at a show while the music is totally incidental. this is terrible. especially w that lame guitarist up there
I like this version because we hear the song without thousands of GD fans screaming their "turn on" through the beautiful lyrics. These fans were into the spirit of the song an saved the adoration until after it was done. "Ripple" will be a classic in it's simplicity or sophistication as you perceive and its accessibility to all.
My favorite song! (one of) Ripple! Golly, Bobby looks so beautiful-the footage (aud & vid) is fabulous! After only 2 syllables of the lyrics were sung ..I started weeping like the "little school girl" I am! My point? I don't have one🙆✌️
The album American Beauty came out in 1970, I was 10, did not know anything about GD. I saw them sang it in NY a decade later, I was 20, then I know about GD. Today, I know how you feel every time I hear this song now in my 60s.
@@roesbud53 I agree, one of those songs by the Dead that reminds me of my late teens and 20s years. The years when friends we‘d picked up deadheads hitchhikers going to the concert and had great times. Nowadays it’s not safe even in a good town.
It’s been 6 years and Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann, Mickey Hart are playing as Dead and Company, and Phil Lesh still does smaller tours by himself. Eric Clapton, Eagles, John Fogerty, Paul McCartney, The Who, Roger Waters, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Bruce Springsteen, and others are still doing tours.
I honestly don't remember this off hand but I was there. Oh, maybe because night one I wasn't psychedelicized or had something that was way underpowered. Did meet and smoke with more strangers than half a summer tours worth and maybe that's why too... with that hazey sweet smell. One group was the size of a decent sized drum circle but rythm wasn't what was being passed around.
Farewell - u all r not really living, read & learn - he is still singing - wonder hiw? Start reading books 'cause I am not telling all my secrets - just waiting......
A very bad thing to u all - all he wanted was sing - u can not kee a good man down. If he is gone - he is in heaven but i believe i God & a lot of other things - I can deal with everything because of Jerry. Amen He loved God!
There is no pebble tossed... then Bobby does this weird hand thing. What was that about? Then Phil comes in and starts ruining this great song. I think that Bob has made this song his own since 2012. He made it better than it was.
+Jerry Garcia : a gesture like that would normally mean "pick up the tempo", or maybe "go around another time" if a solo were in progress. But so far as I can tell, it had no effect. Maybe no one paid attention. Maybe it had some other meaning. Whoever can tell what Bob is thinking?
The first time I ever cried at a live show. My father had passed away the previous month and I used his ticket to get into this show.
Get out.. I cry often... Thinking about all that!!! I'm nearin the end of the road!!!
one of the best things he could have left you.
Omg I just cried, JG is gone, I love you Jerry
me too
again
Forever
❤❤❤❤❤❤💔💔💔💔💔💔🎼
Hearing him sing Jerry’s words… Warms my heart
They aren't Jerry's words, but Robert Hunter's. But agreed, Bob does them justice just as Jerry did.
@@Tom-dt4ic yeah, I forgot that! Glad you understood the sentiment. Ripple is my all time fav…
Gli anni passano, ma le emozioni restano.
Veramente 💔💔😭😭😭
My favorite group. I saw them all together in 1972. Hollywood Bowl. Pigpen's last concert with them.
I was there it was awesome.

"Would you hear my voice come through the music...I don't know don't really care, let there be songs to fill the air!"
When I saw this on July 3, I could've swore I heard Jerry singing along. Nice phsyco-acoustics... Peace V
I pray they live & play at least till I get my call to go on up!
Thanks guys, God's Angels!
I cried during this one.
Whitefolks I always cry at this song. The words and the melody are so sweet and uplifting.
Not when Bobby croons it.
Attics of my Life on the last night was the tearjerker for me, especially all the pictures over the years in the background
I was there. beautiful night with beautiful people
I love the grateful dead
Sean McNulty me too Sean.
svenolley Me too, Svenolley and Sean.
+Sean McNulty Why? I don't get it?
Not everybody does.
Thank you so much Jerry.
Sooo good 😌!Bob Still has a good voice! Blends well!
Grateful Dead is a pure example of Carl Jung's theory of synchronicity

I absolutely love the audience singing along

How could anyone put a thumbs down, why would they be watching if you didn't love the dead!
GENE PAUL the quality isn't perfect which could be a reason why
Pearls before Swine !
This version is way too slow dumbass
This cool, even though I love live shots at the concert, the sound quality tends to suffer a lot. This sounds pretty good. Thanks for the post!
I HAD THE FIRST ALBUM WITH RIPPLE OF COURSE WHEN WAS IN 8TH GRADE N PLAYED IT OVER N OVER N OVER EVERYDAY AFTER SCHOOL
I think that Bobbie got a little choaked up at the beginning. (Know I did)
+R Lee every time I get a glimpse of Bob's soul when there's a close up to his face I get choked up. the intensity kills me
Great weekend this was it was also the 4 th of July weekend so Chicago was packed it was fucking great!
Long live The Dead!!!!!!! ♥♥♥
Wow...
Mistakes man - & others, excited but got my glasses now.
morning bowl pack mountain songs and homemade apple wine.the good life .
James Chase iii
Wow!!!!
watching this makes me sad because in the next 5 years all of classic rock will be completely dead. I mean the real classic rock of the 60s and 70s.
Real music will be dead after everyone is gone. That's even worse and sadder.
Freedog13 life is good. Music will continue lifting souls for countless years to come
the great thing is now 5 years after this comment bob, mickey, phil, and bill are still going strong

Gerry's daughter also.

Those are Dead and Company shows, without Phil Lesh. This is Grateful Dead
I love you Casey jones

4.0 GPA and prattling along in two separate comments which make no sense whatsoever.
I was there
Farewell - u all r not really living, read & learn - he is still singing - wonder hiw? Start reading books 'cause I am not telling all my secrets - just waiting......
Mesmo sem Jerry Garcia o som ficou lindo

A very bad thing to u all - all he wanted was sing - u can not kee a good man down. If he is gone - he is in heaven but i believe i God & a lot of other things - I can deal with everything because of Jerry. Amen He loved God!
That is his song
Is Bob trying to look like Jerry?

Keep - gonna start reading my text better
Way too slow.
Slow and horrible! Jerry is rolling over in his grave!

+Jim Davis I think you're right. And Bobby is very visual about his musical cues on stage.
Pick up the tempo would make sense in this version...
Jerry Garcia hahahahahahahaha what the fuck happened. That shit is too funny
lol. better "than it was" ok
what an embarrassment
Not the same… not ever. It’s nice but just sayin….
