    My favorite is the phrases and use of midi files in the phrase presets that I can modify. I also want to get around to analyzing these and making libraries of my own. My vote is for more phrases in the future for when I need to feel inspired or just want to experiment and get these sounds fast. I really liked when you slowed to 75bpm to show the versatility and pop use.

    Hello John, lovely to see this. I like to use the ensembles in Unify for sketching in BBC SO and then repatch when I have sketched either with or without Unify. This is a real solid addition to the Spitfire release as you need to know what you are doing with an orchestra more so than you do with Unify patches.

    Monumentally AWESOME!! I love Unify as well as your Unify and Omnisphere plugins! I have no problem creating music but I am not incredibly tech savvy and I know I can get much more out of Unify if I had more in depth knowledge of it. Your CZcams tutorials are good but the left side of my brain needs more hand-holding ;) It would be GREAT if you offered an interactive Unify class (or tutorials with more detail and examples) for those of us who are a little slower at the technical stuff :) Much gratitude to you and your amazing team!!

      Me too.... I just love all the sounds but when Skippy starts to turn buttons, I'm like, what is telling him to change this or that because nothing tells me to turn anything ..... I just go to the next patch.... lol
      I would love to know what to turn or even where to go to get the sound I am looking to achieve. But it's all so amazing. And his sounds are always so big and powerful.... wow

    John, about the lack of sustain on your bells. There another example you can try which is also baffling. If you open Unify and load BBC Core/Discover VST directly rather than through the DiscoverStation library, then select 1st Violins Long, play and release the keys and the sounds cut off. Switch to the shorts and it's fine. It's almost as if Unify is not triggering the release samples which have the ambience form the Maida Vale Studio where it was recorded. This is the same with any of the Longs for most if nor all instruments. If you select the Longs from the DiscoverStation Library it doesn't do this and sounds fine. Loading the VST in my DAW or other hosts doesn't do this either. It's a really odd one. Hope this helps track it down

    Thanks John - this is a fantastic piece of work. I noticed some odd behaviour on the "Film Noir" patch, in that it seems fine in Discover, but in Core, if you play in the 3rd octave up, with any additional notes in other octaves (and especially if you play in 3 or 4 octaves at once), there is a strange pulsing or gating effect. Again can't figure out why the difference between the two versions.

  • @johnb6723

    When using this in the likes of Logic Pro X, one thing I am noticing is that it isn't separating out the instrumentation in the score mode. Is there a way of getting that to happen that I don't know about, or is that a feature for a future version of Unify? At the moment in Unify 1.3, all it does is show the notes being pressed on my Roland midi keyboard, not the Unify outputs.

    • @PlugInGuruVideo
      @PlugInGuruVideo  Před 3 lety

      Hi John - if you are referring to separate audio outputs, Unify currently doesn't have that option - it is only a stereo output right now.

    I have a Spitfire BBC orchestra I got free during a promotion. Simply amazing. So I get unify and load it in? What’s the difference from loading into ableton and grouping? Thank you!

    • @PlugInGuruVideo
      @PlugInGuruVideo  Před 3 lety +2

      You need a total of 3 things - BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover/Core or Pro, Unify 1.3 and then this library - both Unify and this library are available at www.pluginguru.com. As to the difference with Ableton/Grouping is pretty huge. Maybe the coolest unique thing NOTHING else does is the ability to load any saved patch into a new Unify layer as a Unify Plug-in. So you can make patches of your favorite ensembles or single instruments and then simply Contorl+Click to load multiple patches into your existing patch. AND do it seamlessly with minimal audio glitching. We have developed our own MIDIFile player that allows you to play polyphonic chords from a single note rhythmic MIDI file. We have other effects that can randomize timing and do Wavesequencing with multiple layers and most importantly, each layer is connected to a different thread in your multi-core computer so that it can pull this off. And Geoff Stradling and myself have used all of these tools to expand what you can do with this single plug-in to incredible heights (some patches load over 30 instances of the BBCSO) and we do this without being married to any DAW or plug-in platform. Hope this helps...

    • @PlugInGuruVideo

      Yes, it's still using CPU. CPU is freed up if you hit the Mute button on the Layer...

    I have a few Spitfire Libraries but not the BBC Core or Pro yet. I do have Discovery. I'm assuming it's easy to go into your presets and change from Discovery to another Spitfire Orchestra with the same articulation, more round robins and such like when you were comparing spicatto in Core to Discovery. Huge difference. I own their Spitfire Symphony Orchestra and Studio Strings for instance. Not too painful to swap the Discovery articulations in your presets to a more pro orchestra I own as well, correct?

    • @robertj1303
      @robertj1303 Před 3 lety

      I have all 3 and you are correct you can switch, indeed if you select Discover and have Pro it will select Pro automatically

    • @TonyByte

      @@robertj1303 Thanks Robert. To be clear, I meant switch the articulation in the Unify Discovery preset to a Spitfire Symphonic Orchestra, Spitfire Studio Strings, etc., articulation. I have Zimmer Strings as well. So if, for example, a Unify Preset is using a Discovery violin spiccato articulation, I would swap it with a Zimmer violin spiccato articulation. Is it possible with these Unify Discovery presets? Only switching the articulation and leaving all Unify effects, layers, and other settings (obviously it would be switching the microphones and and any other effects used in Discovery to Zimmer)? I am new to Unify and havent used it much yet, just checking. When he was demonstrating the limitations with Discovery, I believe the round robins, I didn't like the sound and I do not own BBC Core or Pro (they gave some customers Discovery for free when it was released due to other products we own).

      @@TonyByte If you go to the bullseye drop down along side BBC Symphony Orchestra select swap all instruments you can reselect the BBC Symphony Orchestra this will bring up the Spitfire Audio controller and you can then swop articulations as you want and even instruments too. You can select any other instrument you have or want in your VST list. Its very easy, give it try sure you will be surpirsed like I was

    I am confused?? - Do you just need the Unify current version to run this and purchase the Unify packs or do you need discovery libraries as well??? thank you.

    • @PlugInGuruVideo
      @PlugInGuruVideo  Před 3 lety

      This library we sell requires both Unify and the BBC Symphony Orchestra library from Spitfire Audio. There are 3 different versions of the BBC library. We have included libraries for each of the 3 versions with your single purchase. Email us at unifysupport@pluginguru.com anytime if you need assistance or clarification.

    • @billyjordan9602

      @@PlugInGuruVideo Thanks - really like the product demos, still a little confused. So if I just purchase the $59 Unify Discover with no BBC products nothing works? And for everything to work I have to buy the $59 dollar Unifiy plus the $49 dollar or free Discover BBC product, plus the BBC Core for $449 plus the BBC Professional for $999?

    • @PlugInGuruVideo
      @PlugInGuruVideo  Před 3 lety +1

      @@billyjordan9602 - Hi Billy - Yes, this library is 100% for supporting one of the different editionsl of the BBC Symphony Orchestra plug-in. It augments what that library can do in all the ways I show in the video. It only requires one of the editions to work, if you add more (Core or Professional) then we have libraries that expand the patch list to support all that those more expensive versions provide (more INST patches and more different ensemble articulations). We have many libraries that work without you needing to use anything other than Unify (Cloud City V1, UniChill V1, Skipy's Big Bad Beats and more) and we also have some libraries that make a plug-in into a version of itself on steroids. This does that to the BBC Symphony Orchestra we have another library called Melodic Techno V1 for Unify + Serum that requires you to own and have Serum installed for it to work. We're going a little in both directions because of all Unify can do. Hope this makes sense - you don't HAVE to own all 3 versions of the BBC SO - whichever version you have, the library has patches for it!
