This Supreme Court decision was a complete and absolute disgrace. Sandra Day O'Connor was one of the judges asking pertinent hard hitting questions and wrote a scathing dissenting opinion when the other pathetic justices deprived property owners of their rights. Absolutely a disgrace.

I've heard the same thing. I'm looking at this case for a class project, and my partners have told me that her land is just sitting there now with nothing being done to it. Really twisted. You wouldn't think this sort of thing could happen, and it's unsettling to see how larger corporations and government have such control over our lives.

"for the greater good" ...Dangerous words that are used to justify human rights abuses. If they really cared about the greater good, they wouldn't think of stealing our freedom!

And as of today, STILL, nothing built where her house once stood. Just dirt.

So why didn't anyone champion the taking of native Hawaiian owned rental properties by the state which were then sold to the anglo-tenants ?

And yet the American flag waves in the wind outside her home. Confusing to say the least.

Because the American Constitution says this Supreme Court decision is a travesty of justice.

Shoot I dispise this kind of abuse that usually comes from the hungry for power rich to the less fortuned all due to dollar signs.

Just one minor correction. It's Laurel, not Lauren. Just think of Laurel and Hardy! :)

Any US citizen who supports eminent domain seizure of private property for private use such as the Kelo case should be stripped of their US citizenship and exiled to their choice of communist hellhole. Every politician, business leader, and judge who supported the Kelo decision should have also been stripped of their US citizenship and exiled to a communist dictatorship.

Well speaking strictly as a capitalist, the solution simple. The developer and or City make these folks of financial offer they can't refuse. Let's say the house free market value is $100,000 and it will cost $300,000 to buy a comprable home then it seems to me that's the value of the home. Look at it this way the city is going to make money, the construction company is going to make money, the developers going to make money, so how about the people that are already in possession of the main element of all that profit, get some too.

True about an offer you can't refuse but the bigger point here is the government shouldn't just be allowed to take your home because they want to and that's what happened here....

@laurele861 Why is it that you need to put down an actress because she believesin such case to share the story for people? Aren't you supposed to be non comformist and free to expand your interest to a whole variety of life's choices as you mentioned about yourself. Nevertheless it is a bit hypocritical from your side to say an artist like her is nothing at all and should not develop herself to such projects or use her talents. I find it disrespectful.

Judging from the attitude you displayed in the comments that I can see, I'd say your comment got deleted because you spewed vitriol.

@laurele861 you advocate for you own beliefs by undermining Brookes Talent. That is not fair to say the least. Brooke has done more work than you for sure. I would love this story to be told and i like Brooke Shields.

Thanks, yes, it would help if you deleted your comment from months ago, which I could not leave without a response. I'd rather be thought of as a bitch than be felt sorry for. I have achieved world fame and tons of magazine covers. Okay, most of them are in other countries, but so what. I'm a better actress, and I'm never going to yield. I am very grateful for your recognition that I'm pretty, and I will remove my comment if you remove yours.

Sorry, but I've done far more work than her, and quality work at that. You have no evidence on which to base your claim.
