- NASA has unveiled a brand new spacesuit design that astronauts will wear on future missions to the moon.
The suits are part of NASA’s Artemis programme which hopes to return astronauts to the surface of the moon in 2025.
Comfort and mobility are at the heart of the new design with the new helmet offering better visibility and the boots updated specifically for moon walking.

I like the orange visibility stripes, that will stop aliens from running them over...
You think?
🤣
Listen to the last bit of the video again.
They might perceive a different color spectrum than us, or see only in an extended spectrum of black and white, so that might not help
@@alephmale3171 While we're taking speculation to new heights (pun intended) Maybe they are ultra intelligent and can perceive our intended colors and also have their own spectrum at the same time.
I feel honored to be part of the species that actually travels to space and walks on the moon. Crazy to think about
And doing it in fashion...I'm blown away!
Krave, stay healthy, eat your vitamins and focus on living long. It may more years than anticipated.
@@markplain2555 You as well my friend. Much love ❤️

Lol, yeah its very important these days that we spend money wisely. And this the best way they could. ( sarcasm )
With all those orangey, flashy bits this suit is certainly Artemis.
orange suit good?
This definietly has prequel space movie vibes all over it.

I’m astonished of science in US. America really great country. With respect from Ukraine.
We respect you guys too. Keep fighting for democracy and freedom 👍
Don't forget about your guys' role in space exploration either though! Dnipro was where some of the components of the Soviet program were built, and the city later produced components for the American Antares rocket.
@@johnkonrad5040 of course we know ours pioneers of space exploration as Korolev Sergey, Glushko and other prominent people, as yours))
@alexmurphy6605 not true in the slightest, it’s very rare and you have to have US citizenship to even work for NASA in the first place.
Yes realy great they bring ‘democracy’ and keep their oil besides thet kill millions
Looks like it's from a 1950s sci-fi comic book about the future.
A great time for science, engineering and space exploration
It's mindblowing to think that this will be the only layer between certain death and a "comfortable" breathable space
I hope they get some kind of external hard armor to cover what ever the cloth is for sharp rocks under the moon dust;
Hope nobody gets an attack of flatulence in one.

If you think about it, spacesuits are essentially tiny spaceships that have life support and propulsion.
Let me know when the tracksuit version comes out. Artemis joggers 👍🤟✌️ ❤️🌍
I can't wait to witness man on the moon in my lifetime for the first time.
And now we also have computer modelling to make sure the suit'll work like intended.
Fantastic ...
Looks like something that someone would wear on a mission too Mars. Going by that, if we start manned missions too mars i think we should start too colour code space-suits
The one thing they never tell you about the suits is how good the radiation shielding is, or perhaps more accurately, isn't. They got super lucky with the Apollo missions as neither the suits or the lander would have protected the astronauts from any unexpected solar flares. Radiation on Mars will also be a big issue, so... the suits they take there will hopefully be at least capable of some form of protection. Sadly, I don't think they'll go all Star Trek and colour code the suits, but you never know :)
As cool as that would be I think they go with white due to its reflectiveness
@@troublej1035 Awww
@@DeValiere_ It would be cool to see white for moon missions and orange and black for Mars.
Looks innovative!
Amazing how these fraudsters still manage to fool the public to believe anything they report.
Ben Rich Skunkworks - We have technology in the desert 50 years beyond human comprehension.
NASA are nothing more than a cover story. A theatre show.
Wake you world. This what the MSM are reporting, it's like watching news from the 70's.
The world of ufology and most in it already know they are years ahead of what they tell you.
These space suits are laughable and were probably designed decades ago. But I guess they have to keep the bs going of course.
50 years we went to the moon but now its taking forever😂
They just didn't have a reason to until now, and it's taking around half a decade less than in the 60s
Desperately want them to keep the design they just presented but white makes sense from a practicality standpoint because you want to minimise as much solar intake as possible
Also, white stands out visibly a bit more.
They said the suits will be white when they use them on the moon
@@GGG19872 Yeah, but white is going to stand out more on the moon too. Look at the Apollo Programme photos from the moon and you'll see how bright the astronauts appear to the moon.
It helps them stand out from shadows (including their own) which are very dark, and from the more greyish lunar surface, as
@@lsedge7280 Problem is white looks generic on the moon, it's white on gray.
@@dixonhill1108 I disagree. With the intensity of light the white stands out as reasonably brighter than the surface, whereas black would blend into shadows easily.
The addition of a few coloured high vis stripes is a good idea to add into that visual distinctiveness.
White is definitely a better choice than black. Fully coloured might make sense, but then again as you approach a distance it's going to appear blacker quicker, and will be less well illuminated by reflections when in the shade.
Very cool
Very nice information love USA and NASA from Ahiyapur Muzaffarpur Bihar India
Those dark suits look way better !
They should keep the black. Black accessorizes with anything. It's a classic, it never goes out of style. Good for day or evening wear.
Unless you want to be cooked alive by the sun, black is a no go.
Good idea to insulate them
Whoever thought of that deserves a promotion 😂
I like the color
Go as you like🎉
Well done, black to draw the heat
I t was an honour to design this.
"One small step. . . . ", already been done, perhaps this time it'll be, "Giant steps are what you take. . . . . ."
Now, I am not an engineer, especially not a space suit engineer. I have read though it is 100+ Celsius in direct Sunlight on the Moon. I can only imagine the thermal insulation and cooling system those suits must have.
Correct! Most are liquid cooled.
Walking on moon part 2
This a brilliant idea it will be a great way to reflect the suns rays when on space walks !!! RIGHT
I agree with some previous comments. A lighter color for increased visibility as well as heat deflection might have been a better choice. This suit doesn't appear as robust as previous versions, either. Time will tell. 🤔
Axiom has stated they specifically had the out layer of the suit designed by a costume designer from the TV show For All Mankind.
@@luther0013 the video says the final version will have the same white layer the original had
@@definitlynotbenlente7671 I am aware I was just explaining where the weird look came from.
The colors remind me of McLarens F1 car😅
Nice progress! A shame that they'll remove the color.
Very nice report about the development of suits to be put on by the austranauts during insuing Moon Missions...
This will make at impossible for dust to flake off
nope it was one of the biggest hurdles which they over came by making the suit positively charged when activated all the dust and particles just fall off
That's kool...;))
Starfield stuff
They can moonwalk on these suits? heehee
Very intelligent Charles Duke with the mission Apollo 16 and the late and clever Neil Armstrong said "One step for Man and one giant leap for Mankind". 1969🏆✔
I’m from Montreal and the summer of 1969 I was 8 and we were on a family trip through Western Canada. We were in Edmonton Alberta the day of the moon landing. My brother and I got bored waiting to see the moon walk so we were behind the Motel ( The Eskimotel) playing in a pile of wood and tin cans like a dump. Many of the cans had tiny gray mice in them. We’d pick them up and try to make them race. Then my folks called out ‘ He’s leaving the Lunar Module’. We went in in time to hear the all to famous words ‘One Small step………’ it was cool. But even more e cool that I remember everything leading up to it. 54 years ago. Ouch! I still feel 20 and have kept healthy so far. Fingers crossed.
I'm glad to see Texas care for science, at least 😂😂
Looks cool
Hey nansa gibt es in der Raumstation auch einen Gekreuzigten der euch beschützt
My 3 year old has same suit🤣🤣🤣
The suit must cost a fortune.
Nothing made for space travel can be anything but. However, I think it's worth it. It would be nice to see a mankind colonization of the solar system in my lifetime or at least an attempt thereof.
When you consider that it's basically a tiny spaceship in itself then the price makes more sense.
Oh no , You sounds like fortune teller
how many million $ for a single space suit?
@@skycloud4802 dream on
Will they be easy to see in the dark and if those orange strips glow, how far?

At the end it says that the outer layer of the suit will be white, so it probably won’t look much different, just innovative on the inside
Not far
WE ARE GOING BACK TO THE MOON ITS NOT A DRILL WE ARE GOING BACK OMG!!!!! im so happy im so so beyond happy and glad to be living in a world where our fellow species can travel to moon and back.
Are you excited about santa and the tooth fairy being real too? 😂
Such a bummer the suits are going to end up being white, I was really digging the black (although probably not optimal) or any other color as a matter of fact
Well moon has no atmosphere so white is the go to color unless you want to be cooked.

Some proper spanners in the comments. We did in fact go to the moon 😂 just it's been ludicrously expensive for decades so we've held off on round 2.
Even if you tell them that reason, they will not believe you because they are already deluded

Which studio is it happening at this time?
Uh? 🤨
Are we going for real this time? There was them wires, windy flags, apollo 13 but sent them back again after almost dying? the Queen said it looked staged and you know she's always right, being the one pulling the strings😂
Well even if it is real, them americans will always find a way to delude and convince themselves into thinking it is fake. That's why you guys still have flat earthers 😂
the queen's always right? how that boot taste?
We now have the technology to broadcast footage from the moons surface so there is no need for the indestructible film they used in 1969.... . Looking forwards to seeing a lunar module with the technology to stay cool on the lunar surface.... ;)
The apollo 17 footage is quite frankly hilarious when looked at today.
Shhh! There are some very learned NASA employees skulking around comment sections just waiting to pick on someone like yourself. I was in a long running argument with some rockethead7 who knew every bit of the science but even at that I still think the whole thing looks hilarious.
@@willpeony5534 Ah yes, your average american with below room temp IQ. That's what lead do to your brain, make people dumber lol.
ehmmmm......yup. Not too sure. Thx.
So why do the suits NEED to be white? The moon is white. So why not black to make them more visible?
Did you ever do any research? The moon is about the same colour as worn asphalt. To allow spacesuit cooling (and heating) systems to work most efficiently, they are made of material that reflects much of the incident radiation (mostly sunlight) that falls on them; hence, they are white.
So what happened to Artemis 2?
Artemis 2 is next year but there is no landing as part of it.
Nothing 🙂
Looks like a costume you could hire for a fancy dress party!

Actually collecting more lunar regolith means we can further understand the processes that led to the creation and evolution of our moon. There are probably other reasons, but that's one I can think of off the top of my head.

Black material absorbs heat more. The moon can reach 127 degrees.🥵
This is not the final form the final delivered suit will have a white cover for thermal reasons. Axiom are a private company so they are covering the suit in Axiom colours to hide some of the design features from competition.
I guess you missed where they explicitly said that the ones actually going to the moon would be white.
