    Excellent video! But I'm curious, do you have a USB Power tester to ensure you are getting the proper wattage? I noticed you have a Pixel 6 Pro, drain the battery to about 1% (i know crazy but that's google) before plugging it in and testing. You would get 23W for a little bit of time then as the battery gets to a higher percentage the Wattage lowers.

    • @NaviUpgrade
      @NaviUpgrade  Před rokem +2

      I'll do this soon - I think that's typical Google amart charge behavior to save overall battery life expectancy. Got a wireless AA recently so I haven't been using this system as much. Also I rarely drive these days 🤣

    • @MKFlyers2K

      @@NaviUpgrade I was thinking of doing the wireless AA setup as well. I think AA kills true fast charging as the device will only pull around 10W but will say "charging rapidly." Damn software imitations google. lol

    In a situation where I have already installed a secondary USB input port for my front passenger (running off the Ford USB hub), I would I guess have to give that up ? Not sure I want to do that, especially as I cut a hole for it! Or, is there a Ford-compatible USB hub available that supports main plus 2 aux outputs ?

    • @NaviUpgrade
      @NaviUpgrade  Před 2 lety

      What's even crazier that Ford's OFFICIAL way of fixing things in cars is actually no soldering at all. they do the same thing I did in terms of put on heat shrink, twist the wires together and fold over, but they ONLY use the heat shrink to hold the wires together 😳 Supposedly due to wire harnesses moving and shifting (especially in the engine bay area and moving places like doors and hatches) this is an optimal method to prevent solder joints from breaking down over time!

    Bummer, I got the Power/Data splitter and it doesn't work on my Pixel 5, Pixel 6A, or the Oppo A76 I had lying around. It either requires the data to be connected first, charges at 500mA max, won't work on a device providing USB-PD power, or a mix of all three (depending on the phone). Tried a bunch of USB devices - my Kenwood head unit, my laptop PC, my desktop PC. The issue is the phone used, not the USB device being connected to.

    • @NaviUpgrade
      @NaviUpgrade  Před rokem

      Super weird. I'd contact the maker, Rohan - there is a Facebook group for the pd splitter which is a good way to contact him. Maybe he or others in that group have some insights. Did you do the USB-C flip trick to see if that made it work?

    • @KaldekBoch
      @KaldekBoch Před rokem +1

      @@NaviUpgrade yeah I've reached out. Definitely not a cable flip issue; I can get power but it's either slow charge (500mA) with data or no data at all. Depends on the phone I'm using. The other thing I noticed is that there are other products that do the same thing (on Tindie) and they have resistors used on some of the lines, whereas this one does not.

    Just a head up the this doesn’t work for Apple devices for car play because iPhones need the data pins connected to the charger so they can communicate or something. It stupid, i know, but that’s Apple. You can’t separate the data pins from the charger or the Apple device won’t charge at full amperage. It will be limited to around .5amps.
