- Was originally going for a sub 9 run which I also achieved once before this one but I still made lots of mistake so I went for another run that's more clean and ended up with sub 8 and beating the current known record for Diablos with LS by ~35 seconds.

Whenever you release a video, I use it as reference for how to get better and optimally use the weapons/dodge timings of that weapon as well as learning the monsters moveset. The fact that people can learn so much just from watching you kill a monster is a testament to your skill. Good video as always.

Aries Valliant foresight slash is clearly taking a queue from generations/XX longsword with bushido/adept dodges, the one counter art, and brave style. Seems like that was a perfect testing ground for a bunch of new tools for the weapons.

In previous games you want to made red buff last as long as you can but in MH World you gonna need red buff to use Helmbreaker instead.

You don’t need red buff to use Helmbreaker. The move always consumes 1 charge. You can use it even with white buff.
Yeah you are right. What I mean is you gonna need red charge to get the best result and then get it to red again to use it again, repeat this cycle until the monster died.
Commander Swagvala he wants to stay between red and yellow.
Is Helmbreaker currently like the "Strongest" move for LS in MHW?

You know, the entire time I used LS, I always thought foresight slash and thrust require spirit gauge because it normally takes it up, but now after watching this I think I picked up some mechanics I didn’t realize oops, I just gotta work on my positioning now, great vids man! i dont know if you know this already, but when you slide down with LS and have some spirit gauge, you can press R2 to jump up and make one cool mid air draw attack which leads in to a spirit roundslash. This can help build up the spirit meter.

MH noob here and I definitely just learned that the Foresight Slash can counter ANYTHING!!! Even sound!!!!!
We're now officially at a point where the LS objectively blocks better than the GS.
Pe pi it doesn’t block though it just dodges out of the way.
Regardless it blocked better in XX. Brave LS had a counter that could work on literally everything if timed right.

Question, how spam able is that counter attack?
It can only be used mid combo so that limits its usage a bit but if you know the monster's moves well enough you can easily set up the counter like in this run.

I noticed the counter doesn't even consume spirit gauge, nor you receive chip damage upon countering a hit. It's seem much safer than Brave style in MHXX.

Bhindz counter does consume all of your spirit guage but if u land it u max it out again
priestskorge, the nice thing is that you don't need much gauge to trigger it, so landing it ends up with an even bigger payoff.

I'm currently at the point where I need to hunt this in the story, I'm using the long sword too but I don't undersdtand, how are you doing that counter right before he pops up? You're not attacking so how are you chaining it? This is my first MH obviously lol. Subbed by the way,
I'm doing a poke right before the counter attack to set it up, even a "whiffed" attack counts as an attack
So weird without dmg numbers even though i should be used to that since that was always the case. Great fckn job though!

I don't think I'll manage to get a decent solo GS run out of the remaining time with the beta but I did get a decent multiplayer hunt last stream when I used the GS so I might upload that one.

but gameplay is on point

You should try to get used to the radial menu if you want to shave off some more time, for example when you were shuffling for the first whetstone you could have saved 2 seconds right there. Awesome run though LS counters are so good
shade692003 yeah that radial menu is a godsend. So simple but so ingenious. If it was Ubisoft you would only be able to scroll left. Not even scrolling back one step, only left.
not really lol, I usually search for items during situations where I couldn't waste any time anyway.
I didn't like the radial menu at first and thought the same, but look at your first sharpen, you're walking around for a couple seconds before finding the whetstone. With the radial menu everything is instantly accessible with a flick of the joystick. You can sharpen the moment you realize Diablos is changing area instead of it being the beginning of shuffling for the whetstone. You can switch between flash and sonar pods at a moment's notice. Once I got used to it it made me much faster to use items.
I had to walk that path either way so it doesn't matter if I sharpen earlier or later
You missed the other part, like switching pods / knifes way faster, panic instant max potion instead of running around aimlessly while shuffling for it, quickier access to bombs / traps, a fast and consistent way to rocksteady up when you think the monster is close to raging and roaring, etc. it's seriously really improve your gameplay once you set it up to your liking and you know every joystick flick.

Any reason you turned off damage numbers?
I don't pay attention to the numbers anyway during the hunt since I already know which body parts I have to go for.
Erasumus O I turn them off for the good old monster Hunter experience and the search for weak spots. If I turn on numbers, I don't have to. I immediately know where to hit and where not, plus you start focusing on your beautiful damage numbers instead of the fight or the monster. It just takes away and turns it into a numbers game, like in most games. I'm never gonna use them.
MrVindictus1, that's a good point. I'll probably turn off the numbers too just to make the experience as enjoyable in previous titles. I can see myself getting frustrated that I'm not always doing max damage, so it's better to turn it off and not worry as much about it.
How does the counter work?
R+O mid combo. If you successfully evade an attack with it and hit the monster with the counter attack, it will fill your spirit gauge completely. You can then follow up with either a spirit combo finisher to raise your spirit gauge level or just continue with a regular combo (the latter doesn't require you to hit the monster with the counter)
How tight is the timing? About the same as the Guard Point for Brave style in XX?

timing is like the brave sheathe timing, without holding the sheathe form.
