I worked on RCL ships (I am from the U.K.) and the currency onboard was always USD! I used to take a budgeted amount of dollars with me on each contract having decided what to spend! This saved money because there was a charge for withdrawing cash onboard plus exchange rate fees! And I always kept to my budget! Cash really is king onboard as long as you can keep it safe!

Hi Lucy, you did not mention Visa cards. Is there opportunaty to pay with visa on board as a crew member?
Hi Lucy, I ask myself what currency is the best to tipp the crew.
I'm going on a European cruise wtih RCL. My home currency is Euro.
Should I tipp in Euro or USD? Is there any pro or con for the crew when tipping in Euro?
