      We have spent a lot of time doing research on caravans it's often hard to get the info or experience from someone in one video. Hope this one was helpful but sounds like your already getting into renovations on yours.

    Well done on your auction! 2 mins to spare eh! Typical last moment Trademe tactics! Lolz. Yes - I was watching... we are not quite ready yet and don't like the idea of buying sight unseen. But...we are looking. Your video on buying an old caravan was actually really good and helpful, and should continue to be long after Goldie has gone on to her new family.

    • @leopardsgowild
      @leopardsgowild  Před 3 lety +1

      Yip pretty stoked it sold on the first round. There are a lot of questions when you buy a caravan aye, hopefully cause of our channel there is a bit more transparency on it's use and life etc.
      The other thing I'd be weary of when purchasing is how much use has it recently had. Parked up, unused caravans often will have problems when they start being used again, especially with brakes, wheel bearings, and rust in random places. Might have to make a little video of the old Girl leaving as a part of our travel journey. Thanks for watching. Good luck with your purchase.

    Wish I had found this super informative video before we purchased our 1700 lightweight with 'no leaks'.so far found 3 leaks and two don't look good at all..I feel like it's too much work for us ! Also hubby is 6ft 4 so think he will be in a tent haha.

    Just because an old caravan has a WOF don’t mean anything . A WOF on a caravan is brakes ( if it has them ) lights , chassis , tow coupling , wheel bearings , tyres . It could be rotten in the wall framing and that’s a way bigger fix than anything else . A WOF inspector is not obligated to look for leaks and rotten timber at all .

      Yea, generally your car must be inspected every 6 -12months depending it's age. The checking is pretty thorough, and when things are wrong, it gets expensive real quick. If you fail the warrant of fitness, you have 28 days to get it fixed or you can not drive your car. If you get caught, your car can be removed from you. Same deal with trailers... our caravan needs to be inspected every 6 months to make sure it is road worthy. A lot of these old carvans, get parked up as permanant dwellings on peoples property or at motor camps.

      I don't know where your watching from but in New Zealand we'd consider vintage to be the oldest models if caravan retro is from the 70s and 80s just like flared pants 👖 😉 lol
