I served in a couple of the bks they were housed in but the difference was, although not massively expensive, I still paid food and accommodation charges to live there! Worse still, they were fully refurbished before the gimmegrants went in them! It breaks me.

I lost everything to the unfounded lockdown measures, lost my home and business, no furlough and now at 66 I have to live in a van. I was offered nothing when homeless as we have 2130 on the housing waiting list. I have paid into our system for ove 50 years and are now a second rate citizen in my own country because thay have already spent my taxes.

I lived abroad and came back due to the pandemic... I'm 43 and female. In the last 4 years I've been homeless twice and have been living in my van for over a year. I'm now INJURED in my dominant hand because I couldn't afford to stop working. I can barely use my right arm for anything and I cannot even drive properly..... the council give zero f**ks. I do not expect my situation to improve.
I thank god every day that I have family, with a garden I can park in. Unbelievable.

During the conversation she disclosed that she was currently fighting the local authority decision to move her. It transpired she’d been put-up, at taxpayers expense, for last 3 years in a very large, expensive, London flat. The LA wanted to move her somewhere cheaper, and appropriately sized. Her constant legal objections were also being paid for by taxpayers. She genuinely felt hard-done by🙄

To place hundreds of young men in the countryside is probably not the best way forward. My personal view is that they should all be detained in secure accommodation until their claim for economic salvation is heard. Those who are unsuccessful must be deported.

Don't think Simon is actually encouraging these illegal migrants to go on walks in the countryside. He is more eluding to the fact that they are free to do so, they are not prisoners.
From the perspective of the economic migrants themselves, they may well feel hard done by having been placed in Weathersfield. After all the vast majority of their compatriots are living in hotels in towns and cities all over England. These migrants have access to all the entertainment a town or a city can offer. Some migrants in these hotels are earning extra money in illicit car washes or as fast food delivery cyclists. Those in Weathersfield have no such opportunities and this may be a source of disenchantment. Only saying.
Finchingfield is miles from a large town, no Girls to abuse round there. And yes it's beautiful.

As a UK citizen, I feel very embarrassed about how we are dealing with the issue of asylum. I feel we are a "soft touch" nation that does not have the back bone to address the situation.
