“The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist”-Charles Baudelaire
Even if people guessed it. The movies execution was absolutely incredible.
The title is from a famous line in the classic movie "Casablanca": "Round up the usual suspects!"
Fun fact, during the lineup scene Benicio del Toro kept farting. They were really laughing because of it.
Kevin Spacey is an incredible actor, maybe one of the best to ever do it. This one is great for a rewatch because, while I don't think you're ever really supposed to trust Verbal, his whole performance hits completely different once you know the ending. I also recommend American Beauty and The Negotiator. Two of my favorite movies that don't get a lot of love and he was fantastic in them.
Spacey is a great actor but the crying without tears at the end was a giveaway. They should have made him cry for real.
One of the greatest living actors
For another classic crime movie featuring Gabriel Byrne you should watch “Miller’s Crossing” (1990). It’s a period piece from the Coen Bros. set in the prohibition era. It’s often overlooked but it really is very good. It has a superb cast, it’s super stylish and has some proper old school film noir dialogue. If you’ve not seen it then get on it!
people guess Kevin Spacey bcuz he's famous now back in the 90's nobody knews who he was
This and "LA Confidential" are the best cop dramas of the last 50 years. Both are just amazing. Great reaction and great guess!
Heat? Cop Land? Cop Land is hands down Sly Stallone’s best film imho.
@@aintsam9952Minority Report (too sci-fi?), and The Departed. Plenty more good ones out there.
Great reaction Cami finally you are reaction to one of my favourites movies of all time. There are some fun-facts about it like always. The line-up scene was improved with a fart. When asked by a fan on Twitter about whether there was truth to the fact the group of actors kept making each other laugh while shooting the line-up scene, McQuarrie elaborated that it was specifically one actor farting that caused this to happen. However, he expressed gratitude for the incident and explained how it helped improve both the scene and the script overall. It's pretty well-known by this point that the actor McQuarrie is referring to is Oscar winner del Toro, who Pollack previously revealed: "farted like 12 takes in a row." Lol
Keyser Söze was named after a lawyer. Screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie once worked for a lawyer named Keyser Sume (pronounced Sue-may), whom he told: “You’ve got a great name. You’re going to be the villain in a script some day.” When it came time to write The Usual Suspects, McQuarrie figured that, for legal reasons, he’d better not use the exact name, and so he replaced it with part of the Turkish expression “söze boğmak,” which means “talk too much” (literally, “drown in/with words”). Considering that the movie also has a character nicknamed, Verbal because he “talks too much,” Turkish audiences might not have been as surprised by the movie’s ending as other viewers were. Kevin Spacey asked to be in the movie before he even knew what it would be. The actor met Bryan Singer at a screening of the director's first feature, Public Access, which won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance in 1993. Spacey liked the movie so much that he told Singer he wanted to be in whatever he made next. “I took that as an assignment,” Singer told Charlie Rose. “Because I worship this man as an actor.” Al pacino turned down the role of dave kujan to play a cop in a different movie. That would be Heat, which famously paired him onscreen with Robert De Niro for the first time. Pacino didn’t want to play a cop twice in the same year, so he opted for the more prestigious, Michael Mann-directed project. Fenster’s unique dialect was all benicio Del Toro’s idea. As Del Toro explained it on Inside the Actors Studio, his character’s only real purpose in the story was to die. So to liven things up, Del Toro tried delivering Fenster’s lines the way the audience hears them in the film-very quickly, and with a thick, indiscernible accent. Nobody on the set could understand him. Singer later recalled, “At first I thought it was a joke, but I didn’t want to offend him if it wasn’t a joke.” Keep up the good work.
Great reaction. I saw this movie in the theater when it came out, send it a few times with friends, family on dvd. You’re the 1st to call Kevin spacey as Soze. 👏👏😊
A great Gabriel Byrne film is the 1999 horror "End of Days" with Arnold Schwarzenegger
Another good one that no one remembers with a big cast is ( things to do in Denver when you're dead)
Congratulations on working out early one of the greatest twists in movie history.
I’d be more impressed if she hadn’t seen it multiple times before.
A nearly 30 year old movie that has spawned a thousand memes..... I can never totally trust when a reactor guesses the ending.
Regarding movies that make you think and have to figure out, watch The Sting with legends Paul Newman and Robert Redford. It doesn't have dark elements like The Usual Suspects, but its really smart, fun, funny and just brilliant.
The life of David Gale. You'll never guess that one. It's another Kevin Spacey who done it?
The witness was locked in that cabin for his protection. He couldn't leave. Even if he could, Kyser Soze would find him.
Yeah "Primal Fear!!"
You should really watch the movie again. You'll see him act totally differently then the first time. For instance he's always got a smile on his face when the cop's behind him and changes back to looking all weak when ever the cop can see his face and you actually see him read the name Kobayashi from the cup of the cops coffee mug. It truly is a marvelous piece of acting and well deserved the Oscar it won Kevin Spacey for the role. It's only on a second viewing that you get why he deserved to win one.
FYI- all the actors voiced or played Keyser Soyze in the movie so you couldn't place voice or body language/build
Cami should watch The Thing.
I could list a multitude of reasons, but the main one is its going to be adorable as hell.
Cami's so gorgeous.
Aw thanks so much! :) I actually have watched the Thing for Popcorn Roulettes channel! Go check it out! I actually loved that movie and looked it up so much after watching!
The word SOZE translated from Turkish to English means VERBAL. 😉
I've seen this film countless times and never caught the specific KS reaction that tipped you off. Legendary catch. It undoubtedly confirms the actual events in his story occurred.
Most people that watch it now guess that it's Kevin Spacey. But at the time the movie came out he wasn't well known. Was much harder to focus in on him.

You should definitely watch some unknown knowns like Fresh (1994), Primal Fear (1996) and Buried (2010). Fresh has Giancarlo Esposito/Sam Jackson in it. Primal Fear was Edward Norton first movie role and Buried is probably Ryan Reynolds best dramatic role.
You're good. No one I've ever talked to about this movie suspected Verbal to be the big bad. No one.
"The Asphalt Jungle" (1950) - a seriously excellent crime caper

After this you should check out Lethal Weapon starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover. It's a definite must see if you haven't seen it.
The writer made a huge mistake having Verbal kill the guy in the car in cold blood, it was a dead giveaway, so was Verbal crying at the end with no tears, they should have made sure Spacey cried for real. As a screenwriter myself, I would never have made these mistakes.
What a boring ending to a reaction video
