Question I have 2 ONN Boxes and neither 1 has the Remote with the Backlight (Big Blue Button that say's" Live TV" missing) also when I click on Settings then click on Privacy scroll down there's NO option for Google Assistant or Purchase History can somebody please help? THANKS
I found one at my local Walmart finally. I set it up and it's flawless I love it I like the hands-free microphone. Much smoother than the fire stick

Excellent device well worth the 50 bucks much smoother than the first Gen 4k max fire stick I sold and replaced with this storage, storage expansion over USB 3.0,hands free search well worth it.

Just purchased and pleased so far. Was hoping he would go into using the USB port to see if there are any limitations. Havent tried it myself yet. No complaints on the remote. I like the backlight.The 32GB of stoarge is a big deal. Suprised he didnt mention that since most budet boxes barely have room after installing a couple apps.
When you use the word powerful when describing this, what word do you use to describe the Apple TV?
I don't have the same remote as you, mine also doesn't click at all I think it's got membranes inside, I'd have to do a teardown to see but I noticed its the same type of remote as the mecool device, but I also don't have the free TV button either 🤷♂️
My remote doesn't have the big Free TV button, and I'm so thankful. I didn't want the button in the first place, and I got my wish.
You might change your mind when you learn that it's the only one that has backlit buttons.

How did you buy one with the " FREE TV " Button and back light right away with no effort ?
All I can find are units with remotes that do not have the " FREE TV " button and back lit remote .
I just bought one yesterday and it came with all those features.
I can't get the "onn. Google TV 4K Pro Streaming Device (New, 2024)" to recognize four of my USB external drives, telling me they're corrupt. Three of them are 2 & 4TB Crucial X10 (exFAT, unpowered), and Sandisk 4TB (exFAT, unpowered). The fourth drive is an 8TB Seagate backup drive (NTFS, powered). The 2TB also failed to even be recognized while connected to a powered dock. However, the Onn. does recognize a 256GB Sandisk thumb drive (exFAT). Do you have any ideas on how to get my portable SSDs working? I'll probably return the Onn. if I don't get it figured out soon. Thank you!
Does this device actually have a model number? I'm only asking because I would like to pair this up with my Logitech Harmony remote but I have looked all over and does not indicate an actual model number for this to be used?

It does not. Only FAT32 and exFAT.
I have a streaming service which is in the Amazon App Store and will be in the Google play store any day. Will also be in the Apple and Roku app stores next month. Would love to chat with you about it.
Mine didn't come with the new backlit remote, so I am returning it until I get a "new remote" one, lol.

Yes
Yes -- there's a physical switch on the side. When you disable it with the switch, the four LEDs on top turn red, and stay on/red as long as disabled. If you re-enable it with the switch, the LEDs briefly turn white, then turn off until the assistent is triggered.
Is there a hardware mute for the mic? I'd love it for media, but not google home.

Is the remote not backlit?
The one with the big blue button is. Apparently there are two different versions being sold. The other version doesn't have the blue button and is not back lit.

Am going to order one..I've heard more great reviews than bad I have the chromecast 4k by Amazon is my daily use..I do believe Amazon will move away from the andriod OS..because it's just what they do to buy time to invest in their own OS..but for now I'll keep using them untill the start bricking 3rd party apps and if u ask me I believe walmart will increase the price on these boxes if they get confirmation of what Amazon is doing😂😂😂

I wished Roku had more radio stations on their app. I never listen to any of radio stations listed. Even the IHeart radio station listings don't have my favorite radio stations. One of my favorite reasons for having IHEART is Yacht Rock is 70s-80s music. Like, Chicago, Boston, and Debbie Brothers, just ro name a few groups.
Radio Paradise is the best-kept secret for Roku. Gorgeous photos to go with the music. And there’s TuneIn.

What is the advantage of using this separate device instead of the operating system that came with my Sony Bravo TV?
Sony does not update it’s software as often. They are not in the streaming device business. It’s always better to separate technical functions
Problem is my 85 inch TV is higher on the wall then I'm comfortable reaching behind. I'll stick with what I'm using now.
Correct..love my bravia from almost 5years ago and stuck on andriod 9..but it's always u have to buy the latest brand to get current features..lg tvs are great but their appstore sucks other then the basic so u differently need to add a streaming device

I think I’ll pass and stick with the previous device. I’ll wait until they standardize on a remote. Backlight is a nice feature and from reading the comments there are three different remotes “free” button, no free button and backlight. Makes you wonder about quality control. Luke, I’m with you the click on the remote every time you hit the okay button would drive me crazy.
Why get a streaming player like this when most if not all tvs are smart tvs they have all the apps you want
My experience is that baked-in "smart" functions are not only woefully underpowered in processor terms, but the worst case scenario is that the manufacturer might push an update which not only breaks app functionality, but also the TV itself. I have an example.
Awhile ago, Vizio had one of those great-in-theory ideas to fold the free streaming options and OTA television into the same on-screen guide...and to make that the ONLY guide. It made things sluggish, but at first it was usable. One night during an Internet outage, I was unable to receive antenna television because the TV wouldn't allow the tuner to work unless there was an Internet connection, because that's where it was pulling the guide from. I rolled the firmware back to factory default before bed and will never enable wifi on it again. That turned out to be a call, since eventually they disabled the rollback feature because a lot of people were getting the same idea.
Say what you will about streaming dongles, but if they stop working, they won't take your TV down with them.
Because some of these so called smart TVs do go out of date. This way, if something goes down or out it’s then just switched out.
Well, dedicated streaming players can load streaming services a lot faster. This is especially true if you use the Apple TV box, where the speed of the on-board processor and plentiful RAM and local storage means really fast startup and navigation of most streaming services.
Agreed. My 65U8G is an Android TV, recently updated to basically a Google TV. I got this box thinking maybe I'm missing something. Nice looking box, seems well made, and it is quick, but, I returned yesterday and got my fifty bucks back.

I wished all remotes would go away from batteries and be rechargeable. Some remotes, I'd wished they were rechargeable via solar panel on the remote itself.
Im looking to get away from Firesticks. Looking at NVIDIA, but expensive to have one for each TV set. How does this stack up to Firestick? I dont care how proprietory firestick is. Thats why I got away from Apple products.

Bench Mark the FireTV Max new ... blows this device out of the water.
I'm not sold on this at all at $50, with most of it being Google TV. Recently got my first generation ONN streaming box back out, and compared to Roku's interface which is far from perfect, Google TV doesn't have much to offer. Apps? Roku every day of the week. If this was at the $30-35 price point, I might be slightly interested.
You can not get the apps on Roku like u can on ONN 4k pro pluse u can install 3rd party apps that u can not on roku

@@MackUtley Actually, Apple TV is the gold standard for dedicated streaming players. Other streaming players have surprisingly small amounts of RAM and local storage, which can cause player slowdowns at times.
