- After a 4 month wait Timex released another batch of the Q Timex watch, a re-issue of their 1979 diver inspired Q Timex original.
like its 70s predecessor it has kept its woven steel bracelet, battery hatch, rotating bezel and lume, it has however had an upgrade on the quartz movement.
Needless to say this watch has been a phenomenal success and selling like hot cakes, so much so that the Timex website couldn't cope with demand, this didn't stop the watches from selling out within the hour.
Then Timex did a double whammy by releasing another batch within days, that's 3 releases in 4 months all sold out. Fear not... if you're after this watch there's a good chance you wont have to wait long before it's back in stock.
This is my quick unboxing and initial thoughts before a planned review in a few weeks... enjoy.

I had exactly the same buying experience! A roller coaster but luckily received an order confirmation from Timex a few days later. I love the watch and wear it more than most in the collection. An interesting unboxing vid, thank you

Got mine on Monday (like yours, it was loose in the box). Really like it. The reselling prices are utter madness. I hope Timex churn these out and the scalpers get their greedy fingers seriously burnt.

Timex has released a couple of different Snoopy Marlin watches. They seemed to hit on something in the watch community that other brands would love to have happen, people going crazy

It’s a lovely watch
I own a Q Timex (Pepsi) and a Q Timex GMT (Batman). Both have a problem with the crown and movement.
When I push in the crown, after taking advantage of the hacking feature and having set the time precisely, the minute hand jumps, either forward or backward, by maybe as much as two minutes. This makes setting a reliable time very difficult. Actually almost impossible.
I am not alone in this. While no CZcams video review of the watches seems to mention this, I have read the same complaint in other online reviews and comments.
These are beautiful pieces, but setting the time on them is maddening.

Nice job. This watch seems expensive considering that Timex is know for budget inexpensive watches. I just purchased a beautifully modded Seiko SKX007 for the same price as the Q. More power to Timex releasing a winner.

I refused to cave to the scalpers as well and held out. Mine arrives tomorrow according to Timex, scalpers be damned! I belong to a watch group on facebook and I posted a message as soon as I received email notification that they were in stock. They were gone in less than an hour. Interesting that this particular piece has become such a hit.

It’s a good looking watch, I like it, the case shape reminds me of AP and the dial obviously looks like Rolex gmt master, overall a good combination.

Last Watch the basic case angles remind me of the Royal Oak, having said that I’m certain they don’t get their design from one and other, as for the Rolex gmt similarities it’s definitely no coincidence.
We all know Rolex is the most copied watch in the world, but I still may buy one of these timex, it seems cool!

After the first launched that I missed out on, I went on eBay and found a vintage Timex Q for $15 in immaculate shape. It wears incredibly well and looks as if it cost $200, from everyone I ask.
I mean, I still snagged a reissue on the second batch, but still! :)

@@LastWatch well, the original I purchased is not of the diver-style of the reissue, so interesting, actually; the movement in mine ticks 3x/sec, so it has a pseudo-mechanical sweep to it, the dial is textured with what I can only describe as a golden wicker basket weave, and just has a very elegant presence on wrist. Much dressier than the reissue.
So even though it's a Q and the lineage is quite obvious, they have different places in my collection.
I grabbed one. It's nice to own a Timex in the collection. I wore it once but the Rolex quickly returned to my wrist

My father got me this watch in 1981. And I did not like it. So I tossed it. Now it was cheaper back then. Now that I’m older. I just bought it to give to my dad.

@@LastWatch I think some products just gain momentum from hype but it does look nice. I see a lot of people saying "it's a timex no way I'd pay 200 dollars" but it's obviously much higher quality of build than a walmart timex

Bought mine the other week. Been wearing it instead of my Santos. It’s been a refreshing change, although for £160 it’s definitely overpriced. It’s a great design though and I’m enjoying having something a little lighter/less pricey on the wrist. Also still waiting for a Marlin Snoopy :)

My old Timex watch brought me accurate quartz timing for 7 years until it starts to lose several minutes a day with a 2 to 3 hours loss in 2 to 4 days. I guess that's what the usable lifespan is of the Japanese quartz inside.

I think i may not. My Buler watch still clocks in accurate timing eventhough the Buler pre-dates the timex by 5 yrs+. That Buler was Swiss-owned until an HK-based company pirchased it

Reminds me of my first mechanical timex I received as a Xmas present in 1971, a really nice and honest watchmaking effort. The nostalgia faded as soon as I saw that battery cell cover with the massive coin size indent on the back of that cheapo quartz thing.
The hatch is a throwback and a bit of a gimmick on a watch with 50m water resistance

Wonder why the box says 2016? Strange. Nice watch, but too much hype about it. I think it is worth its retail price, but not double that. Just my humble opinion. Anyone who bought it, good luck with it. I am sure it looks nice on your wrist. 👍

TIMEX has always made Top Notch time pieces for less, I have always enjoyed their watches and will be looking out for that one , they real do Takes a Lickin and Keeps on Tickin.
The problem with Timex is that they are too easy to buy

He did because he was a friend but when he handed it back to me it was like he was handing me a dried dog turd, he had such a pained look. The experience had obviously traumatized him LOL

Last Watch I do. I’m fortunate enough to have bought the the SARBO Line when it was attainable. I own the SARBO 17, 33, 35 & the 65 Cocktail Time. When the Presage Line came in it cluttered the watch in my humble opinion. Same 6R15 movement but with a busy dial. Again, in my humble opinion. In the new blue Alpinist it seems to me that Seiko cranked something out to appease the public. But what do I know. There’s probably a ton of folks that love that watch. My biggest gripe is why didn’t they have a push down / screw down on that God Forsaken Compass dial!!!!!!
I suffer from CDO. YES CDO. even the letters have to be in conjunction. I’m sure all SARBO17 owners have the same gripes about the compass dial moving inadvertently!

JAPD Sorry I edited that out, saving it for the review. It’s a bi directional friction bezel, quite tight at first but loosens up with the warmth from your wrist
Typical Timex and watches in general these days. The second hand does not align with the marks on the dial, but falls between. For the amount they are charging, you expect a more exact movement. I would bet that the hour and second hands do not zero either.
The hour and minutes are perfect but I have yet to get a Timex where the seconds hit every mark

I'm careful with every unboxing, you never know whats happened in transit. An unboxing video is twofold, it covers your ass if the box arrives in poor condition
