Buying a watch can be a serious and expensive business, and in some cases seriously expensive but it doesnt have to be ! It's easy to forget that watches can be fun and affordable, with that in mind I thought it would be refreshing to kickoff 2024 with a watch that ticks both of those boxes and I guess theres no better place to start than Timex. Frank Dubarry Deep Ocean Xmas Giveaway

I like it but if my phone got stolen.. what do i do keep time with the guy who stoled.. with the bluettoh.. i need something independent watch and phone i keep my 5610.
disgusting it left there in worsse condition in come in what is going on at Tudor are they blind
i’ve owned a number of gshocks and other mechanical timepieces throughout the years but never the square… that was until a few weeks ago when i bought the updated module of this model… i never knew i missed so much… thanks Casio!
I got both Explorer 40 and Sub (non date). I honestly say I love them both dearly. I got the call 3 weeks ago, and I went in to pick it up just like that (after 3 years of waiting).
Swiss "Based" This brand is Chinese owned/made.Do your research.
Had they given it a sapphire crystal, a slimmer shape, and a potent lume, I very much doubt it’d sell for $119
Screw tudor... and why I'm at it screw rolex. Blancpain fifty fantoms or nothing
beautiful
I want to get one but I'm poor and can't have one but I can still have a plastic watch 😢
There are too many people using watches as an investment tool, they start throwing their toys out the pram if they lose money.
197 was discontinued in Aug 2023. Making both highly sought after now.
The display is way too busy. The design of the g5600 or gw5000 is so much cleaner.
what a simple yet beautiful dial! I really like the look of this watch. That shade of copper gold goes well against the black dial. Not a stunner in the specs, but who cares!? Looks great!
I was choosing between this and the airking. I pulled the trigger on airking but still waiting for the call.
Forgive my ignorance. How does one know what the retail prices are without being at the shop and subject oneself to all the stress and maybe embarrassment if at all ?! 😂
Check out the Rolex website
Oh! Thank you so much !!
You're not kidding about the bracelet length! I usually have to remove 2-3 links but not with the Explorer. I originally wanted a 36 because of it being the classic size but I could only just get the 36 over my hand with a bit of a squeeze let alone do it up. I was further disappointed to find it looked ridiculous on my flat 8" wrist so turned to the 40. This looked the perfect size on the wrist thankfully but I could only get it done up with the Easylink extended. AD didn't bat an eyelid though and said it was no problem to add an extra link. Now I just need the one with my name on it to come in!
You can set the date display to M.DD and DD.M.
only on m5610u version
This is my main watch unless I need to look fancy. The type of watch that will take you well into a zombie apocalypse.
This model, with the totally black bezel is out of stock and has been like that for a year now. But the Batman is in stock and it is 88 EUR right now. Ant there are 4 more variants of this watch and almost everyday one of them is on sale. The lowest I've seen them is 84 EUR. You can't find a better watch for the money. The cheapest equivalent Seiko or Citizen is at least 300 EUR. Even the OG Seiko 5 (with the 7S26C) costs 110 EUR. The cheapest Lorus with the same Y676 movement costs more than 120 EUR. The only cheaper mass produced automatic watches are the Q&Q Grandeux or the Q&Q Superior, which have old Miyota movements.
would be perfect if had POSITIVE display. Positive: perfect design, every function is useful, also alarms with snoozer, the Bluetooth also useful and the strap is THE BEST strap ever in any g=shock. The bad: the negative display. Thank you for your review!
Amazing video
“Only Gshock” DOES NOT COMPUTE
Great review and presentation style.
in your time setting you can both set your lume to 3 seconds and set your date function to month/day
Does it give you notifications?
I have one sonce one year. Really great watch and size proportions. What annome a lot is the ceramic bezel. It looks too shiny, too modern and ruins the watch for me
I got the same model. Its beautiful. I got my accuracy +6 per day on the first weeks. After a year i got +2/-2 per day, i love it. The problem i got is the misaligned bezel. Not a big problem to me but its a shame for an expensive watch.
Butterfly clasp & 100 WR., this watch woud be perfect...
Hi, I had similar problems but I sent it back to Seiko under warrantee. It now performs excellently well within spec so that I didn’t check it for a few weeks and it was within seconds of Exact Time on the internet. Amazing after a bad start.
I think you'll find that you can set the backlight to be on for longer.
Definitely this one seiko model , absolutely stunning. Swimming, walking, working,chillin..... everything, everywhere
There seems to be an SRPE51K1 and 55K1. Is there any difference?
Great seller here in the states.
I think i know why they call it a square. Forget the physical shape. That's irrelevant. It's because you need to be SQUARE ON the read the LED display. Oblique viewing angles do not work .
Ill never buy from an AD. Period. I refuse to play the game, i won't beg someone for the right to spend my own money. I will always buy grey market. I don't mind paying a 10-20 percent premium. I'm paying for the convenience if anything.
Beg 😆 enjoy wasting your money 😂
@@AZadeh-nd8vx The difference between spending 8,000 dollars and 10,000 dollars or 10,000 and 12,500 for someone who can afford these watches to begin with is pretty trivial. Definitely when we are talking about wait times of up to a year or more. Of course there are ridiculous cases like the Daytona selling for triple MSRP but these are rare cases, most of the professional line is a negligible price difference. For instance, I recently bought a 40mm Explorer and its MSRP at the AD was 7,700, I bought it for 8,900 on the grey market brand new with stickers. The AD said it could be a 6-8 month wait lol. To me the convenience of that trivial price difference is worth it for me. Also most ADs expect you to spend a lot of money for the opportunity to even be considered for a piece so you're still saving money on the grey market often times.
@@AZadeh-nd8vx Hell Ben Bridge alone which is the largest Rolex AD in America expects you to spend on average of 3-4 thousand dollars in jewelry to even be considered for a Daytona or a Submariner. For a submariner, I will spend far less than 3-4 grand in premium on the grey market and not be stuck with a bunch of bullshit I don't want lol
@@NorthwestMarinerwhat about straight from rolex ad?
@@marktran2657 why would I beg a Rolex AD to spend my own money? Why would I buy 2-5k in jewelry I don't want just for the right to buy the Rolex I want?
This is a beauty. I’ve just ordered the blue model. Waiting for stock to arrive.
I’ll be honest, I’ve not taken it off my wrist for the last 2 months, my other watches are jealous
Way to big gir you wrist
Are the white digits of this negative display visible in the dark without having to press the Illuminator button?
None of the GShocks are visible in the dark without pressing the light
@@LastWatch except maybe for the new MIP display ones but I read those aren’t as durable as the older ones. Thanks for the response.:)
The rubber/ Urethane resin comparison is unnecessary! Rubber was the reason for the Vietnam war! Indochina was a plantation for rhe French Michilen company! If they lost it after the war(WW2),the French feared Europes economy would have collapsed!
Nice and simple. I like that they didn't bother with the date function.
Me too!
Well I have 5600 and I love it
Not a terrible review but far too much time was devoted to describing the form, which we can pretty much see for ourselves, and hardly any time was spent on going through its operating features. Is the stopwatch 1/100th sec? No idea, cause that wasn't discussed. Is time still displayed while other modes are engaged? Again, this wasn't discussed.
I don’t know. I have had the same watch since it came out and it’s had zero issues in almost 1.5 years at this point. But at the price point Seiko is hitting with these watches it starts opening the door for Doxa Sub200T’s or Longines hydroquests.
I ordered one, but the negative lcd sucks. I returned it.
i have been on the list for the no date sub 124060 for 9 months. told the AD it will be a present for me for my 50th birthday in february of 2025. they said it should not be a problem, but i have my doubts.
Wonderful review, excellent history and great take on size, marketing shortcomings, and querying the specifics of Dave Scot’s narrative I have the (now) bigger original with date complication. Love the tool watch aesthetic with its peerless legibility and uncommonly I do make frequent use use of the chrono. That size though - really a little too big for most of us who don’t find the need to put on our spacesuits for the workday
Great video that was more in depth than other videos I watched on Watch. I wanna buy this watch just to play tennis in.
Thank you ROBOT.
The pronunciation is Lilien...tall , I am not being disrespectful, I was corrected by German speakers. Their newest automatic has a Miyota movement, I think that is a colossal mistake. I own 12 of them most limited edition. These watches are either loved or hated, there is no in between. Their resale value is lukewarm, they are not an investment.
I appreciate your correction, I have apologised in many reviews about the possible mispronunciation of brand names and owners
@@LastWatch Again I was corrected by German speakers, almost to the person English speakers mispronounce it.
Just got mine today and I absolutely love it. Got it to use for fieldwork and on my motorcycle rides. My other watch was my grandfathers 1982 Rolex Datejust (now mine) and I was a bit worried about vibrations from my bike messing with the movement not to mention getting beat up when I do fieldwork. This looks great and it’s nice and light and not too large, or too small. It’s just perfect!
