  • Pt. Santosh Banerjee (1931-2019), was a virtuoso Surbahar/Sitar player belonging to the Senia Gharana. He was a disciple of the great Beenkar Ut. Mohd. Dabir Khan for 20+ years, and was likely the only practitioner of the Dhrupad Been Ang on the Surbahar. He spent most of his life teaching in Kolkata and has made one or two albums. (Tabla Artist name corrected - Pt. Gobinda Bose)
A nice article on his life - www.thehindu.c...

One of the most deep, meditative renditions of this beautiful raga i have ever listened to, by the Maestro. A rare collection indeed... unforgettable, nostalgic, sublime. Koti Pronams Guruji. Miss you all the time 😢

I was one of his students, but could not continue learning for long as I got entangled in studing medicine. Now I am entering the late phase of my carrier as a doctor and I am back to basics. I am practising once again in my sitar and feeling the need of learning from someone sitting before him. I wonder where all my friends are with whom I spend so much time at his Kalighat road house. I specially remember debu mukherjee who at one time worked in all India radio at new delhi.

Pokri Poki - The recordings you have uploaded are amazing! Where are you getting them from? I don't think I have seen a single channel on CZcams that has more rare recordings of Indian Classical Music. Thank you so much for your efforts!
