Santosh Banerjee Sitar Raga Komal Rishabh Asavari

Pt. Santosh Banerjee (1931-2019), was a virtuoso Surbahar/Sitar player belonging to the Senia Gharana. He was a disciple of the great Beenkar Ut. Mohd. Dabir Khan for 20+ years, and was likely the only practitioner of the Dhrupad Been Ang on the Surbahar. He spent most of his life teaching in Kolkata and has made one or two albums. I was one of his students,but could not continue learning for long as I got entangled in studing medicine. Now I am entering the late phase of my carrier as a doctor and I am back to basics. I am practising once again in my sitar and feeling the need of learning from someone sitting before him. I wonder where all my friends are with whom I spend so much time at his Kalighat road house. I specially remember debu mukherjee who at one time worked in all India radio at new delhi.
