  • Ok V In this video I discuss the teardown of a Volvo Penta 5.0 liter engine. The long block is going to be replaced with a rebuilt 5.7 liter long block. Since it’s fuel injected I will replace the fuel injectors with 14% larger injectors and let the MEFI system compensate automatically. There is an interesting dual fuel pump system and auxiliary gas reservoir on the back of the engine. I will discuss these features in more detail in later videos. The main purpose of this video is to show how parts and wiring are laid out so they can be put back in the same place.
EDIT: I found out via part searches that the 5.0 and 5.7 fuel injector sizes are the same so there is no need to replace the injectors. I will be blocking off the factory fuel pressure regulator and replacing it with one of my own design for fuel pressure adjustment on the fly.
