Thats a good pickup no matter how you slice it.like they said,he could be an upgrade at the backup spot.He could be trade bait down the road.The Raiders no longer have glaring needs at any position on their roster.Everyone they drafted this year outside of Joseph are just adding depth.

I think it's actually the perfect situation for him. Of course, every player wants to start. But what good is starting if you're going to start for a franchise that will just throw you into the fire and hope you don't burn? This approach is the best imo. Have Cook learn behind a stud like Carr, give him reps in training camp, let him learn the nuisances of the pro game, and then give him reps in preseason. If he shows potential he can be the #2 guy if Carr goes down (knock on wood). And if Carr doesn't go down (which hopefully he won't), you trade Cook to a QB-needy team who will make him their starter - when he will have had experienced playing against NFL players. It's a great philosophy.

Smart pickup. I see nothing wrong with drafting a reliable backup to DC.
Smart pick. You get a 2nd round graded QB in the 4th. Your backup McGloin could easily start for some teams and will probably leave in FA next year. If Carr ever got hurt we have a nice insurance policy for a few years that we don't have to pay a lot of money to. Reggie McKenzie knows what he's doing.

this is a great pick we are going to develop him under derek carr and trade him in the future for a 2nd or 1st round pick and even if we dont he will be the best backup qb for sure and pushes carr to do better and not just think he had the starting job
