Congratulations on 20 years of marriage! And on your beautiful Buick - oops, I should say your wife's beautiful Buick. When I saw the heading, "I bought my wife a 1939 Buick", the thought, "Give a gift you'd like to get." came to mind. I love that she's delighted with it. It sounds like she may be willing to share it with you, though. I hope you are still enjoying it together in your 40th year. When I took the head off of my 52 263 straight 8, it was in my 40 Buick Special (pitifully, pitifully rougher than your 39). Even that smaller head was plenty for two to lift, out, so I knew the 320 wasn't a picnic. I'll check for more recent videos to see how things are going.
With so little compression, it should be cranking much faster than that. Also, it is best to remove all the plugs when checking compression, in order to get maximum cranking speed.

Through the intake exhaust port
3EH battery works. Same size and look as original, about $150 at Tractor supply.
Oh my gosh, thats cheap. Thanks for the info. Cheers!
Careful! Too much starting fluid can get into the crank case and explode.
