To both of you, thank you for your faithful examples. I'm white but have all my life hated racism and always strive to discourage it in thoughts, words and actions in people. I've always striven to treat everyone the way I know we are...all beloved children of a perfect God, ALL with the same capacity to receive or refuse God's every blessing.
My totally unofficial opinion is that God's skin color is light, as in photons, not white, blue or black-not melanin or pigments. And physics-wise, white is the combination of +all colors+ anyway.
      Peace and love to you!

I’m a Filipino. My bestfriend is a black woman who was recently converted because of a testimony I shared about my faith in 2020. Back in July of 2023, I was a pioneer trek parent for our ward and fell in love with the testimonies of the pioneers. Today, I was gifted with this video to know about the black enslave pioneers. I have such raw feelings that brought tears to my eyes. Pres. Spencer W. Kimball was the prophet when I was baptized. I was just a kid when he announced that all worthy males were granted the priesthood keys including black members of the church. I remember having tears of joy that day. Thank you so much for this beautiful video. I felt the encompassing love of our Heavenly Father and the Atonement of Jesus Christ. ❤😢❤😊

As a third cousin, five times removed of Elijah Able I reflect at times on how he was treated by the church and they're stripping away of All rights to the temple and the priesthood. It does not make me bitter against the church. It gives me strength and resolve by his willingness to endure so much when he did not have to. This is magnified by this great movie green flake and what The enslaved blacks went through and did not deny their faith in God, their father, Jesus Christ, and the Church of Jesus Christ. Thank you again, Mauli.

Randomly I came across the interview that happened awhile back ago with the All In Podcast that put me on a mission to find a way to watch this movie in Canada. I don’t even remember how I even was able to watch it now but it just moved me so deeply, and I made my teenage kids watch the movie too. We’re not black, but I have on multiple occasions used Green Flake’s example with my kids to remind them that our greatest sorrows and trials in life is the catalyst for our great victories and successes in achieving the impossible. Then randomly I came across this podcast today and am even more moved and inspired. I just can’t help but constantly think of how this is the Restoration of All Things. The Lord made a point to ensure we knew the risen Savior appeared to Mary first, and Now The Lord is clearly making a point with Green Flake’s story, in which you two are pioneers to help bring to light, in proclaiming liberty and freedom to all so HE can loose the bands of all forms of slavery so we too can be lead to our own promised land. From Green Flake’s story, and how it all came to be with everyone involved, there is NO Question the Lord’s Hand is all over it. Thank you both SO MUCH for being willing to follow the Lord, and setting the perfect example to all of us on what it means to consecrate your life by keeping your convents. I’m excited to see the stories that are coming.

My family never discussed these things in our home. I don't know if it was because my grandmother on one side was a convert and didn't know, and my grandparents on the other side were uneducated and of the poorer class or if it just wasn't discussed, but I remember learning different things that we believed from critical accusing voices, and it had an effect on me. I cried in prayer to Heavenly Father that I didn't believe those things and asked for help. Some time later, when I was calm and peaceful I felt impressed to pick up the Bible and read it. I was filled with love. I then felt impressed to pick up the book of Mormon and read it. I felt the same love fill me. Through continued reading I was led to Bible scriptures that consoled and assured me, and in the Book of Mormon. The way the spirit of the Lord taught was with love. I am moved that this is the very motivation you have in addressing the history of the church. I am thankful to you for it.

I am not a woke person, but a few years ago, i was on a committee to make a float for a parade. I suggested we make some of the pioneers to have dark skin in honor of the black pioneers like Jane Manning James and a few others. Sadly, I was turned down by the rest on the committee from doing that. They were in the Boomer generation, so that’s probably why. But nevertheless I was saddened by their response. We need to integrate ALL the history and tell ALL the pioneer stories. Hopefully things will improve later. But I was grateful to be a voice and try to help.

He keeps asking about where the urgency is coming from, but when the spirit is working with you, it is an urgency from the outside of you that you cannot explain and you do not know why. We tried to put a why to the revelatory process but most the time we don’t know why or even how. We just know that we need to go and do. I’ve never heard anybody explain it sooo well.

So proud of you. There was a trilogy of books written by Margaret Blair Young and Darius Aidan Gray about our black pioneers: 1) One More River to Cross, 2) Bound for Canaan, and 3) The Last Mile of the Way. It's been a while since I've read them, but they are amazing. Some of the information is difficult to hear because I've always felt bad about my dear black brothers and sisters, wondering why they've been so discriminated against. Joseph Smith and Emma really loved Jane Manning and wanted to adopt her. The stories involve Elijah Abel, Green Flake, Jane Manning, and other amazing black pioneers. Some parts made me cry. I met Darius Gray, who was over the Genesis Group of the Church. He's suffered a lot of persecution, and talks about it in these books. I kissed him on the cheek, and thanked him for helping to write these stories. I love my black brothers and sisters, and I'm sorry that we didn't love one another as we should have. 💓 Thank you so much! How can I watch this movie?

The people here were the nicest people I have ever met, since going out side of Utah I realized people are not that nice or care for you like how people from utah do. Loved hearing about the faith in the making of this film and monument. Great story! Thank you for sharing your perspective on history. Perfectly said. I love to learn about the black men and women that helped in the founding of the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS. Just as there were black people that were a part of the founding of the United States. I want to know about all OUR history. All the things that have not been shared.
