Actually it’s weird but despite mecha being a Japanese stable its the pilots in western cartoons who have a more positive outlook on piloting a giant robot, the big guy and rusty, Megas XLR, KND, even Frankenstein JR. Very little angst about their situation even in more serious depictions.

It always amazes me the number of voices, accents, and personalities youre capable of! And the fact you always knock it out of the park too, your a legend!
'Hopscotch' is such a great name for mech-armour suit.
To be fair I always wanted to watch an anime where the mech suit legit falls in love with the pilot. You could even have a cool harem anime by having the pilot piloting different suits for different situations and each one falls in love with him in a different way.
Honestly it be awesome.
I'd be a little surprised if there wasn't an anime or manga like that already. If not I'm sure it will be done at some point.

Considering there’s a base or bases of more such mechs, either said bases to house these mecha are gargantuan, or the kaiju are not the size of skyscrapers.
Based on the later, I would guess something Gundam-sized would fit the bill for these mecha. Though Lego Exo-Force also came to mind.

Never have I hoped for a sequel to an audio so badly. This genuinely might be my new favorite asmr audio ever. This entire scenario is so good, and you performed this script perfectly! (Also, that art in the thumbnail is awesome, great design!) Really hope a sequel to this comes in the future and that our mech pilot manages to bring themselves out of their depressive feeling.

Being a Lancer pilot had been amazing, I’d loved every second of it. I kept my mech in the best condition I could, but it was after the rush of every mission that I’d wake up and feel it. Guilt. Terror. *Pain* ! I felt every second of pain I suppressed to ride the high of adrenaline, because I didn’t have a standard mech. I’d gotten a Manticore.
Horus wasn’t like Harrison Armory, IPS-Northstar, Smith-Shimano or General Massive Systems. Horus wasn’t a corporation, their mechs weren’t standardized, there was no production that told someone they had a Horus mech until it was too late. I’d ordered a Chomolungma but all of that sensory input I’d been expecting, all of those antennae I thought were present to register sensory data, was a lie.
Every antenna was an exposed wire collecting electrostatic from the surrounding atmosphere to add to her motor, turning her from a control and supporting frame into a striker that would kill me. Not could. I knew she’d be my death. No one would take her off my hands, I wasn’t going to risk putting her in some moron’s hands and I…I’d seen too much with her to just give her to someone else. For all the heat she burned me with, for all the electricity she coursed through my body, she was my Manticore. She was my man-killer.
Unlike other corporations, Horus didn’t receive Union funding. Even the Baronies were clueless on how Horus functioned. I had nothing to do with any of that stuff and I had a Manticore, so either someone else was supposed to get my old girl, or I was just one of the luckiest unlucky sons of bitches in the galaxy! That’s part of why I kept her in such good condition: hedging my bets because nobody was betting on me.
Better cooling, rubber inlays, capacitors to collect the excess charge, coil guns, the comms I’d have gotten if she were a Chomolungma, the sensors I’d anticipated, a simulation software to help me guesstimate my chances-the works! Every. Single. Cent! I poured more into her than my house. Honestly, I didn’t even have much of a house. If I spared a cent on myself, she’d kill me through no fault of her own.
She wasn’t bad, someone just built her that way. I could make this work! I had to! I was! I couldn’t stop making this work! I had no idea Hopscotch had been an NHP this entire time. She let me fix her up, she let me run her different to how she was made. Hopscotch had been there when Harrow died.
When she first spoke to me, my heart stopped beating and I couldn’t help but hope Hopscotch finally got it over with, that her lightning generator would do what it was always going to do and just finish the job! I’d spent every cent on making sure I had some chance of safety when getting into the fray, but Hopscotch wasn’t a mech designed for safety. Flipping those off and letting her rip us both apart to turn the Kaiju into Mongolian barbecue, that’s what we were here for!
But as she spoke, as she forced her safeties into activation, as I heard the electricity crackle everywhere but near the cockpit…I felt confusion. I always felt certainty in battle, I forgot what I was fighting for and lost myself to the rush, just to stay alive. I came here to think, I came here because I was making good money, paying all my bills yet I was so used to the cockpit that my bed didn’t feel right anymore. But to know Hopscotch had been there, trying to offset the danger she innately put me in, filled me with shame.
“…oh my gods!” I choked, a feeling of guilt washing over me. Non-Human Persons were digital intelligences that formed in everyday software the day Ra interfaced with mankind’s technology, many of them were as old as the Union and the Baronies themselves. What I’d done was as close to violating another lifeform as I’d ever come, and it made me sick!
It took everything in me not to throw up, not to throw myself out of the cockpit and into the charged atmosphere around my Manticore. I’d been forcing an NHP to do my bidding, forcibly modifying her chassis without her input, and profiting off of that abuse. No one would see this and look at is as anything other than perverse! I’d never work again! I’d be jailed or worse!
And yet….all she did was say kind words. She told me how nothing was my fault. Her life, her development, Harrow’s death…she was saying that which I always wished someone would say. She told me things that no other person had ever said to me, telling me how she’d sacrifice herself for me when that was antithetical to her design.
Hopscotch wasn’t an ancient NHP from the days of Ra, but a young sentience that had just revealed herself to her only friend and family… *Me* . I didn’t know what to say or do besides listen to every word she sang into my heart, soothing my senses, soothing my exhausted mind.
I knew that I’d been fighting the terror of my missions, of what she would end up doing to me, but now? Now that I knew Hopscotch had been trying to keep me alive this whole damn time? Harrow had been deeply involved in my mental state, a friend so close that I never knew I’d be able to live without him when he died. But now? I had someone hearing me as he did. I’d never have given her up, and Harrow would’ve cheered me on for helping to bring her to life in this mad galaxy of ours. Now? Now it was time to do what Manticore pilots always did: get shit done.
This Was Actually A Concept For A Character I Made Where She Was Both A Combat Mech And A Doting Housemaid, This Is Just Superb 😊

OOO! I just figured out what this reminds me of! There's an analog horror series called Angel Hare, and it's by far the most wholesome and sweet analog horror series EVER, and the ending nearly had me in joyful tears.

Kinda reminds me of BT-7274 a vanguard class titan from titanfall 2.
This was great! The theme was super unique, the roleplay was fun, the voice work was excellent, and the ending felt satisfying :) I thought the digital sound effect in the background was a little distracting, maybe it could be turned down or pitched down a little, but otherwise it was perfect! I would love to see the reverse side of this, with the speaker as the pilot doing maintenance on the mech and reminiscing over past battles and thanking the mech for its hard work

My head cannon is that this pilot is the Comic Relief Side Character. It would explain the more childish and cute name Hopscotch and the pilot being depressed could be them thinking they are not as good as the other pilots including the protagonist of the story. Now would this Mech be the only one to awaken it's AI or does the rest of the Main Group (Assuming the Protagonist is in a Mech Fighting Group with the side character) also awaken their AI and Hop is simply the first.
I'll let y'all decide that one if anyone agrees with this take.

Fantastic, and the second audio of yours I've ever heard. I already want more, and it's giving me mech itches. I want to jump from the hangar into action saying, "Lets go, Hopscotch!" And getting just a little more power to the engines and jump kit, as her way of sharing the enthusiasm.
I want to give her a pat on the hull before and after every mission, and volunteer for maintenance work with the support crew. See all the damage, feel and buff every scuff and scrape, and put in the hours I'm not spending elsewhere on making her feel special hy spending it with her.

Because she is the companion AI played straight, and any of her kind deserve reciprocation because they can, will, and often do die for those they give their lives to. And they do it with a smile. @@awendigowithinternetaccess4400 I'm glad you agree, but this sort of treatment shouldn't be limited to mechs with sentient AI, but to all straight-played AI that are our friends and companions, regardless of chassis, make or model of construct.
Tanks? Tanks the size of firebases? Actual firebases? Aerospace fighters? Ships of every shape and size? Space stations? If it thinks, therefore is, and doesn't want to murder you on principle or any number of evil/corrupt/hostile premises, it's worthy of consideration as a person, and thus of the respect one such deserves.
In the time since this post I'm already generating my own internal script for another audio, one from the perspective of the pilot of the "Bitchin' Betty" (which would have something of an appropriate attitude to match the name, as that's what she'd be named for (I suggest looking up "MechWarrior 3 Bitchin' Betty Voice Lines" for a sense of what that sounds like, if you don't know already or could imagine it)), who becomes aware after their own emergency safety override during a fight-
(I'm imagining it happens when trying to get more power out of the engines, but a safety almost shuts them down due to heat, which is overwritten mid-callout)
-and starts behaving a little quirky right after, but could be overlooked during the middle of a fight or as the AI voice being especially "pay attention to this", but not out of line with what it would normally do or say, just seemingly tripping alerts more consistently and insistently than usual.
This sort of thing would go on for months (cutting between scenes) as Hopscotch and the pilot realize what's happening is Betty's awakening, and while BB and their pilot is on a flight test receives a call from Hopscotch and the pilot to assess the situation. And thus the family grows, and the subtle performance increase rises in the team as a whole.
That, or we get a private channel between Hopscotch and the pilot as HC gets a good checkup in the hangar or a buffing, and some sweetness between them. And/or talk from other pilots about how the pilot has been adapting since their friend's death, and taking to Hopscotch like a lucky charm, treating her like a ship with a spirit (which wouldn't be far from the truth).
I hope the whole flight gets awareness, and thus they all stand in unison as a fighting family to be researched, but not shut down or dismantled. This should be a feature (one watched carefully, but cultivated and supported), not a bug.
