    WOW! She fired up! SWEET! WE had our first killing freeze here in NJ the last two nights. I was busy pulling out my vegetable plants, and cleaning the yard. No time to start the GTO. It drains down like your car does. That is why I will pour some gas in the 4 bbl, and let it fire up. It quickly pumps gas from the tank to the carb, and my baby does not strain the starter too much. (That is ME- I am getting lazy, and do not want to have to replace the starter again.) ha ha! GREAT video! Keep them coming! GTO Howie

      Yeah, I was surprised at how cold it got here. Of course, this week it is supposed to be back in the 50's again. Go figure. I spent today in the rain playing lawnmower Tetris in my little shed trying to get prepared for winter. I know one of these days the starter will go, but that just adds to the video list, Right? haha. Thanks for watching, Howie!

    Loved the ride of mine. My father handed down the Family Delmont 88 (same color and interior) to me while in high school. I remembered the double pump to get her to start on those cold Ohio mornings. In the wintertime I put studded snow tires on the rear. Never got stuck in the snow.

    I had a 68 Olds Delmont 88 like this same color and everything. I had to junk it out around '81. I bought it when I was stationed in CA and drove it back to Michigan in 78. Best riding car ever so smooth.

    Great video ! Sir I knew she would start my 1981 Oldsmobile Delta 88 does the same in the extreme cold but once you get through the initial lol coughing and chocking after cranking it a few times she will eventually start/run . CHEERS ...

    I lived in Northern Ontario in the 70s I would start mine in 40 below Fahrenheit ,As long as it was plugged in ,It had the 455 ci 4 bbl in a 68 4 door hardtop Delmont 88, If I pumped the gas twice , turned it over and then held it right to the floor ,it went every time.I miss cars like that They were fun.

    when I lived in Canada in the 1970's I mostly owned Fords. On cold starts you pressed the accelerator once, released it and cranked, it would start immediately, That would go for old Fords too as long as you had them tuned up per factory spec. I remember the choke design included a small leather strap. Mind you I didn't live very far up north.....

    Only hit the pedal once, if you hit the pedal twice it will open the choke up and you will get the result you have here....

    Is this the same kind of car Ted Kennedy was driving in 1969 in the Chappaquiddick Incident? 🤔🤔🤔

      Delmont Industries LTD beautiful car! I have had a few old cars that I had to pump the gas while I was cranking. If I pumped the gas before cranking they would flood.

      No sir. Not on this car. Others, yes. There is a leak in the fuel line allowing air into the system that causes the fuel to drain back to the tank once you turn it off. See one of my other videos where I stick the camera over the carb so we can see what is going on.

    Obviously you not use to older cars. Turn key in the on postion then put pedal down to the floor slowly . Release after a few seconds and then press a quarter way and hold . Then attempt to start car . If cranking but no right away , pump while cranking . Carburator 101 ...jr

    • @delmontindustriesltd7501
      @delmontindustriesltd7501  Před 3 lety

      Obviously you do not know the history of my vehicle or my background in automotive mechanics. The push the pedal to the floor method does not work with this car. I have tried your method many times and it does not work. The fuel drains all the way back to the tank if you do not run this car every day. Carburetor 101 is great for a basic understanding, but when it comes to my vehicles, all 3 Carbureted vehicles are completely different. But Thank you for your input.

    There is a knack to starting a carbureted car… You just don’t seem to have it.

    I get a kick out of it when people don’t know how to start a car!
