  • Care Connection Aging and Disability Resource Center connects people to services in order to help them maintain or improve their quality of life. This presentation will provide an overview of those services, including options counseling, transportation, in-home vaccinations, assistance for veterans, and respite for caregivers.
    Carmen Castro is the Administration Manager for the Aging Call Center, leading benefits counselors/ outreach staff within the Harris County Area Agency on Aging (HCAAA). She has over 20 years of experience working in the field of aging: as a local long-term care ombudsman; and as a Health and Aging Policy Fellow/American Political Science Association (APSA) Congressional Fellow in Washington, D.C. Castro earned her Doctor of Public Health from UT Health; her Master of Health Education and Promotion from UTMB; and her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University.
    Annette Offord is a State Health Insurance Assistance Benefits Counselor II with Care Connection Aging and Disability Resource Center. In her time with Care Connection Aging Disability Resource Center, Annette has received certifications and training in Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (AIRS), Care Transition Coach, A Matter of Balance, and a Master Trainer for Stress Busting for Family Caregivers. Annette provides comprehensive information to Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers that assist in making informed decisions when selecting Medicare plans and prescription drug coverage and connecting them to resources that are beneficial to their overall health and daily living.
