I agree it’s disgusting. Like Dog racing here in Australia. I cried when and still am traumatised from when they took thousands of greyhounds to the country and killed them years ago. Nothings changed. Same with horse racing. Its sickening and they need to get a real job. So touching that they adopted beautiful Mum. It’s amazing how they instinctively remember their mothers. @@jgjg3848 that's the m.o of a typical shit breeder. the very least they could do is give that dog a good life, once they retire them from breeding. I don't know how you could have a dog for that long and then just throw it away once it's not useful anymore. a lady that used to live down the street from where I grew up, bred toy poodles. they were inbred constantly and had a load of health problems. I never understood how she could do that. I guess greed will make some people do anything.

What an absolute little cutie. Doesn't seem to let her size get in the way of a good time. So pleased she found a forever home. Sad to say many breeders would have buried that mistake as it could affect the price of any puppies they produce but happy this one did not. We took a semi blind, totally deaf Whippet from a breeder who was going to euthanise her. She was one of the best dogs we ever had and lived to 14 1/2 yrs of age.

If a bitch throws a puppy with ANY health issues, the breeder is supposed to stop “using” her as a money mill. But we both know that NEVER HAPPENS.

Unfortunately it's not that easy.
If it is something genetically i absolutely agree! Esp bc there are a lot of Tests you can do nowadays befor you decide to use a dog for breeding to be sure that there isn't any Problem (the typical hyp displasia tests for ex.).
But if breeders aren't part of their countrys 'breed club', who puts out rules like breed a has to be tested for this that and that before you can breed them, then there's only tue buyers left.
(and even if you're part of it, there still are some of them where the rules aren't worth the paper they are written on..)
And often times they don't know about these things bc unfortunately the research they do before buying a living being that they will have up to 15 years is nowhere near what they do when they want a new phone.
And of course you also have the ppl who don't give a sht about it anyway, bc all they want is a cool looking dog, and they want it now! 'Oh, merle x merle will lead to at least 1/3 of the litter being blind/deaf/both combined?/ There aren't real merle french bulldogs?/ There is no such thing as a silver Labrador?/ Lgd's aren't fluffy teddybears but serious dogs that were made for hundreds maybe thousands of years to protect lifestock on their own and therefore it's probably not the best idea to put them in an Apartment in the middle of the City? Yea, that's f'd, but i want to have one anyway bc the pups who aren't affected are still super pretty/look cool on photos so i can post pictures on Instagram'...
And of course there are good breeders who do what they do bc they love a certain breed so much that they want to preserve it for Future Generations. Breeders who take really, really good care of their dogs and put a lot of money in them (starting with the right food, to testing every dog for everything possible before breeding them, and so on), and who are really picky about the ppl who they sell their pups to, and often have in their contracts that if they ever should come in a Situation where they have to rehome the dog, they have to tell the breeder about it/the breeder will take the dog back so that it will never happen that one of their pups will end up in a shelter - even tough it may not be a puppy anymore but a 8 year old dog!
You can make all rules you want for breeders in these breed Clubs, but as soon as someone throws his buddys male into their backyard to their female to make a quick buck with no effort at all other than 'throwing one dog on the other', not one of them will help/prevent sick puppys (either an illness or, and that's not any better, (really) bad temperaments).
And of course the 'what else will we allow the government to control' comes on top of it too.
So actually i agree with what you said, but it's way more complicated and not so easy to fix with only a 'do x and there will never be a Problem again'.
Sad to say that there are too many irresponsible and evil backyard breeders and puppy mill breeders. These people should be stopped from breeding animals.

What a mind blower for me! I have a dwarf chihuahua/feist mix who is just like this little adorable girl. My little boy weighs a little over 3.5 lbs and is almost 2 now. He has long, solid black fur and looks like a little black lion with the way his hair grows (a long mane and longer hair around his feet). And he also does not think he is any smaller than any of my other dogs... he's also the LOUDEST!

At first I couldn't tell what breed she was by looking at her so I decided she's a purebred "tiny baby dwarf potato dog" and I would easily die for her.

They are all special , but some of them are extra special.
Kudos to the breeder for recognizing that Dottie's life and her mother's life are important, and so giving them to this great family. Too many breeders are complete trash, only see $$$$$ in front of their eyes and to hell with an animal that either can no longer produce or gives birth to a "handicapped" baby.
New Zealand is a village. Not so easy to be an ass in a country where your neighbours know you..
I'm sorry I disagree, that breeder is still trash. Yes they did the right thing by recognizing Dottie needed help but this lady makes a statement that when the breeder was done with the mother dog they gave her up. It's still all about the money for them.
@@d.o.t.collector4728 Maybe, but NZ is 1 of the only countries where a dog actually has certain rights and it's acknowledged that animals have feelings. So I am not sure how this could be handled legally in that situation. Better than digging a hole and throwing them in, isn't it?
@@lastpenny849 yes NZ is one of the countries take animal welfare serious and have many laws. But still killing millions of abandoned dogs just like any other countries. Keep breeding dogs while knowing ‘unwanted’ dogs are killed or in death row is beyond me
@@d.o.t.collector4728 Exactly. The mother looked nothing like a standard Griffon. The breeder still decided to breed with her. And then had to get rid of the dog(s) that don't profit him.
And by taking in the unwanted puppy and also the unwanted mother, this woman unvoluntarily supported these practices. And for these two dogs the breeder most likely bought in two new ones, just so that the cycle continues. He will continue to breed dogs that don't represent the pedigree. He will continue to produce disabled puppies. And will continue to throw out the mothers when they are "done".
Animal care and animal love also means, to NOT support shady breeders. Only that way these businesses will close down eventually.

Only recently did I learn that dogs could have dwarfism. She is cute in her own way. A knowledgeable person replied she is a " Griffon Bruxellois". Looked them up, they are so different and still cute. think she looks like a pug, with a bit extra. lol. Cute and sassy. This couple is the best mum and dad possible. House full of lucky dogs !!

I lost my Brussels griffin a year ago and we had her for 9 years. When I adopted her she already had a grey muzzle. They are one of the best type of dog I have ever had. Dottie is so lucky to find such a loving family.

0:36 Dottie as a newborn and new arrival to her new home looked so sad and wistful as if missing her mum. The reunion was wonderful and miraculous for both her and her mum who had to say goodbye to so many puppies disappearing to who knows where.
No, that's not Dottie as a newborn. They've just edited clips together. Dottie is fairly indpeendnant, she's happy with or without her mum present most of the time. Emily does prefer Dottie's company.

Yes, I could see Dottie wasn't a new born in the clip (captioned along the lines of her being wait listed for adoption to a forever home since birth, as is normally the case) but I did mistakenly thiink it was a clip from her first arrival moments at her new home. I was going on the tone and words of the voice over and the wistful sad looking little face. Though puggish type expressions are a bit wistful looking at the best of times. My thoughts were more to do with her mother having to be separated from so many puppies (depending upon the amount of her use for breeding) then at last being joyfully reunited with one of her babies who also remembered her with joy. A rare joyous situation all round.
The reason it touched me so much was because my mother was given an older breeder 'pet' dog from a home breeder who no longer could breed from her. A pure Lhasa Apso. She had birthed and seen 8 litters of puppies taken away over her 10 years of life. Every year the family left her for weeks with a different house sitter to go back and visit family in Italy for Easter and Christmas. My cousin was the last sitter and rescued her from being put down but could not keep her herself so my mother adopted the poor little thing. She stuck to my mother like glue and followed her from room to room for over a year and was always afraid to walk in parks when other dogs were present and would refuse their social interactions and start shaking with fear and want to be lifted up to leave. She also did not know how to play or had any interest in toys, just cuddling up close, even on hot days.
I know there are more humane breeders around but I'm always in mind of the natural separation anxiety of the mother and I'm glad for the happy ending of this story.
