I LOVED this video!!!! Good to hear other autistic people discuss their interests.
I’ve often struggled when people ask what my hobbies are…I don’t have them.
But I do have special interests! I’ve learnt not to discuss my special interests too deeply with people though, that tends to scare people off. So when asked what my hobbies are, I say, “reading, walking, journaling”…which is true, but people don’t know they are my obsessions haha 😂

Haha it wasn't until Orion said 'do I have hobbies? No, I have special interests' that it clicked with me. I should've sent in a video of my special interest - cats, in specific, the stray cats here in Turkey. Lately I've been so focused on getting as many stray cats spayed/neutered (it's a long process - find the cat, make sure they are healthy/well-fed, then the big question, how do I catch? So I try to become friends with them. Then I go out with my box every day, trying to get them used to the idea etc etc etc Worst part, I force myself to connect with humans who know the cat so I know they are at a good place afterwards. That part is EXHAUSTING!) I totally forget about other stuff in life to be honest. It's so lovely to see what activities others love to do! Great video as always 😻

    • @alejandro-314
      @alejandro-314 Před 2 měsíci

@@Catlily5 Yes, you could say that they are fractal-like structures. They shared that they are defined/calculated in a recursive manner and show some self-recurrence. What I find more interesting is that by this recursion, you start with a line (which is 1 dimension) and, when n tends to infinity, you end-up with a object that has a dimension which is a rational number (between 1 and 2 for the binary tree examples). This value indicates "how much of the 2d plane is the fractal filling". This recursive strategy is found in nature because of this. For instance, a tree can cover more space (to absorb more light) by following this strategy.

    Hola Jenny!
Same as other people commented I do not want to share my face on the internet, don´t even have facebook or other things as I am really scared of some people finding me (bad things happened in past, including a stalker that frightened me to death).
My number one special interest was always animals, mostly mammals. But also common others we often share our lives with, as chicken or pigeons. Starlings chatting in groups are soo interesting, or how they copy sounds like the signal of traffic-lights for blind people. Or crows, how they place walnuts on the street and wait for a car driving on them to open them. Okay, I guess I like a lot of birds😅 In general I am very interested in the behaviour of animals and that leads to my second big interest, psychology, brain research, how bio-chemical processes and behaviour go together, how meds work, sociology, etc. It leads to a lot of things I really enjoy to take a good deap dive into it, like the effects of urban planning and architecture on people.
I like arts and arts-history, love going to museums and arts-exibitions, especially old classics as Caravaggio, Boticelli or Vermeer. I don´t know how often I visited the Gemäldegallerie here in Berlin (its my favourite museum here) and I could go there again and again watching the same pictures and nearly cry out of joy!!!!!!
Since childhood I am also very interested in history, also especially in archeology. Wanted to get an arceologist or psychiatrist as a kid; or a secret agent many years as another alternative watching the classic James Bond-movies with my dad over and over again😂
I like architecture, so trips to other places nearby and walking through the streets, places and parcs can be inspiring (if it is not too ceowded and loud and I have enough time).
I like to hike, especially with a dog. I never had my "own" dog (as I am a vegan animal rights activist I think nobody owns or should own a living beeing, but You know what I mean), but had some dogs I cared a long time for some days of the week. I can walk hours/kilometers in the nature on my own enjoying watching plants or animals, enjoy the silence, feel the wind, smell the air...
I always loved to sing, this is really a reason why I like to visit the service, it´s great to be able to sing loud with the organ acompanying. Sang in some choirs from childhood on. But hate to stay on a stage, beeing forced to it I quit, also playing german flute. I used to sing loud a lot living at my parents house, I was there alone a lot as both were fulltime working and additional did things on the afternoons. But in a small flat I don´t feel very comfortable to do so, same with playing instruments as my german flute. Miss it a lot!
I like to try out some vegan recepies, but I wouldn´t go so far to say cooking or baking is a special interest as I just love good food and as a single I have to make it myself 😅Often I don´t realize in time that I am hungry, forget to cook and then I have to eat something quick. I guess You all know what I mean. So nothing to complicated and I like to eat the same often.
I used to read a lot, mostly fiction, but since I am in big emotional stress (grieving after my dads dead more then two years ago combined with simultaneous ocurring other big stress like an emergency surgery, other sudden deaths, moving, losing job, lawsuits, ...🥴😵‍💫just too much to handle for me, and I guess the diagnosed "depression" is in fact an autistic burnout) I can´t concentrate on a book like I used to and I watch a lot of serials instead.
Oh, I listen to a lot of podcasts and mostly play casual games parallel to concentrate better on listening. Mostly about history or some true crime podcasts if they are more focused on the psychology instead of bloody details.
Also I like to play old-style adventure-games on computer like "the book of unwritten tales" (it has grown to a triology, so if You loved to play monkey island or Ednas breakout You have to try it!).
And I loved my job in social work with homeless people. I guess I like to spent time with them as that they are more "true", "real", come to the point, don´t care about boring social games mostly. And as I hate injustice I love to fight for their rights. A big amount of homeless people has mental illnesses but as classic psychiatric system has a specific idea of what is the only way of treating them and if they don´t agree just lets them down they end homeless. I think as I have faced this a bit with the late diagnose of ADHD 18 years ago and the constant feeling of beeing missdiagnosed before I found out about the autism now I understand that people say that´s not helpful for them. I am very interested in finding out together with them what could be a good thing for them and then try to make this possible. Often it is a frustrating fight against system/burocracy, but in a city like Berlin there are some alternative places and people trying out new ways, so it is inspiring. During pandemic I worked at a experimental-program where homeless people were given accomodation without beeing registered somewhere first (so also foreigners could take part in) and just had to sign to follow some basic rules like deposit their alcohol/weapons/drugs at the entrance, consume outside and no violance. Dogs and cats were allowed, it was weelchairfriendly, a DREAM came true for us wanting this for years! The left Berlin city government paid it, it was single in Germany, and it was a big success! We were able to get more permanent housing, resignement in social system as health insurance, getting a passport again, regular social welfare, jobs or other needs for the people then in "normal" projects before! I really loved to be able to took part on this! I also later then worked on a vaccination-centre and additional volunteered on a medical ambulance for homeless to get practise as I took the oppurtunity to join a free offered course for emergency medical tecnicians by the organisation that run the vaccination centre (Johanniter). So for me the pandemic was quite a busy time. Medicine in general is a very interesting field, too.
Okay, could add more, but I think I should stop now😂.

And last it is with homeless people like with autistic people of cause, "if You met one..." ;-) But mostly they are "rough but pure", like that a lot. I am not always very good with that "professionell distance", and sometimes I just give a shit on it. There are people I really like (yes, more then others, I am a human, try to treat all fair and equal, but sometimes I like some more)and often I knew I could have ended up the same if not a small bit happened differently at my life.

Thank you! I enjoy cross-stitching. It's been a while though. My grandmother tried to show me how to croquet and I'm left handed. I wasn't able to learn then. Yes, books are great! :) I looked at a bunch at the thrift store today.

I don't sell anything that anyone on my channel would probably like. But maybe in the future.

Thanks Jenny! I couldn't send anything longer. Singing and writing music is my favorite but I didn't realize only 10 seconds would send over email. 🩵

Thank you. It was nice to see your photography. I love that too. I feel like cell phones have come a really long way also. I don't use my Nikon as much as I used to. I think I've become lazy and prefer to whip out my phone.
