- Locked away in a semi-secret former army quartermaster building surrounded in a crumbling old fort, the Detroit Historical Society's Collections Resource Center is a car-person's dream. It features priceless automobiles from The Motor City's rich history, all preserved in constantly-filtered clear plastic bubbles - many formerly owned by automotive celebrities like Cadillac's Henry Leyland, Ford/Chrysler's Lee Iacocca, and so many more. I luckily had a chance to visit the unbelievable collection; here's what I saw. Read the full story on The Autopian.

There';s something delightfully retro-futuristic feeling about seeing all those midcentury prototype vehicles in clear bubbles preserved like that
You lucky dog!
I wish busses had that aerodynamic/ art deco look today.
soo cool :D
Is the collection at Fort Wayne? It's a shame that it's not open to the public.
I'm going to Wixom, MI next week for ZEISS Calypso training, will add this museum to places to visit on Friday.
I wonder, how long does it take to cocoon a car in a bubble? How much work to get it out?
They just unzip at one end, so probably only about a minute. (As long as you've got one or two extra people lifting the loose bubble away from the car, so it doesn't get caught.)
Too bad it won't get any views on this channel 😆
